ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires two persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. N ote: The und ersi de o f th e tr eadm ill walk ing belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
2. Attach the Latch Housing (89) to the Left Upright (90) with two Latch Bolts (77). Do not overtighten the Latch B olts. 2 90 89 3. Have a second person hold the Handrails (114) near the Right and Left Uprights (90, 95).

THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
10 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
1 1 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER N ote: To prevent damage to the walking platform, always wear clean shoes when using the treadmill. Plug in the power cord (see page 9). Next, locate the reset /off circuit breaker on the treadmill frame near the power cord.
12 Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Inclin e increase and de- c rease buttons. Each time a button is pressed, the incline will change by 0.5%. Note: After the buttons are pressed, it may take a moment for the treadmill to reach the se- lected incline setting.
13 Measure your heart rate if desired. You can measure your heart rate using either the handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sensor. Note: If you hold the handgrip pulse sen- s or and wear the chest pulse sensor at the same time, the console will not display your heart rate accurately.
14 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect a preset program. To select a preset pro- gram, press the Program Select button repeatedly until one of the ten indicators on the left side of the con- sole lights.
15 The program will continue in this way until the speed setting for the last segme nt is shown in the C urrent Segment column and the last segment ends.
H OW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect one of the custom programs. To select a custom pro- gram, press the Program Select b utt on repeatedly until one of the two Custom Program indicators lights.

18 H OW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a heart rate program. Note: You must wear the optional chest pulse sen- sor (see page 25) to use a heart rate program. Put on the optional chest pulse sensor. See the instructions included with the optional chest pulse sensor.

20 HOW TO CONNECT THE TREADMILL TO YOUR CD PLAYER, VCR, OR COMPUTER To use iFIT.com CDs , the treadmill must be con- n ected to your portable CD player, portable stereo, h ome stereo, or computer with CD player. See pages 20 and 21 for connecting instructions.
21 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO N ote: If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the LINE OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of the audio cable into the jack on the front of the treadmill near the power cord.
22 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VCR N ote: If your VCR has an unused AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the AUDIO OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. If you have a TV with a built-in VCR, see instruction B. If your VCR is connected to your home stereo, see HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO on page 21.
23 If the speed or incline settings are too high or too low, you can manually override the settings by p ressing the Speed or Incline buttons on the con- sole. However, when the next “chirp” is heard, t he speed and/or incline will change to the next settings of the CD or video program.
24 HOW TO USE A PROGRAM DIRECTLY FROM OUR WEB SITE Our Web site at www.iFIT.com allows you to access iFIT.com programs directly from the internet. To use a program from our Web site, the treadmill must be con- nected to your computer. See HOW TO CONNECT YOUR COMPUTER on page 21.
25 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een used and the total number of miles that the walk- ing belt has moved. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as the unit of mea- surement for speed and distance.
26 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE B efore folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be permanently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
27 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the treadmill down until the frame is past the latch pin. Slowly release the latch knob.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on S OLUTION: a .
29 PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on S OLUTION: a . Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 9. b . If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor- mance may decrease and the walking belt may be permanently damaged.

EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity.
