7 2.1. 2 Key Functi ons at You r Fingert ips 2.2 Installing Your Mobile Phone 2.2. 1 Install ing the US IM/SIM Card There are two steps to install t he USIM/SIM card: 1. Remove the battery cov er. 2. Insert the USIM/ SIM card . • Press and hold to power on your mobile phone.
8 2.2. 2 Install ing the Bat tery 1. Angle the edge labeled a (with the contacts) int o the bottom end of the battery slot. 2. Push down the edge labelled b until the battery clicks firmly into pl ace. 2.2.3 Charging the Battery Before charging the b attery, ensure that it has been properly in serted into your p hone.
9 Status Indicator The color of the status indicat or tells the battery status of your mobile phone. 2.2. 4 Importa nt Inform ation About the Batte ry • If the battery has not been used for a long period of time, y ou may not be able to power on you r mobile phone immediately after you beg in charging the ba ttery.
10 • Use the AC adapter to plug your phon e into an external power so urce whenever possible. • Switch off Bluetooth when you are n ot using it. Only make your p hone visible to other Bluetooth devices when y ou need to es tablish a Bluetoo th connection.
11 2.4 Using the To uchscreen 2.4.1 Touchscreen A ctions • Touch : Use the touc h of your finger to select an item, c onfirm a selecti on, or start an application. • Touch and hold : Touch an item with you r finger and continue to pres s down until your mobile phone responds.
12 If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be prompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it. 2.6 Home Screen Touch and hold one of the shortcuts unt il the mobile phone vibrates, you can drag it to your desired loc ation or move it to the trash.

14 2.6.2 Notifications Panel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notifications panel als o informs you of alarms and settings, for example, you w ill be notified when Call forwarding is activated.
15 Closing the Notification Panel Touch and hold the bottom of the panel. Then flick up to close it. 2.6.3 Viewing Other Parts of the Hom e Screen On the Home screen, touch > Home settings > Advanced settings > Screen number to set the screen number.

19 Do not block the microphone at the bo ttom of your phone if you want your voice heard. 3.1. 1 Making a Call with the Pho ne Appli cation 1. On the Home screen, touch > Phone to display the dialer. If you are alre ady working w ith Contacts or Call lo g , touch the Phone tab.
20 Drag the to the right to answer the call. 3.2.2 Ending a Call During a call, touch End to hang up. 3.2.3 Rejecting an Inco ming Call Drag the to the left to reject the call.
21 3.3 Other Oper ations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Conferenc e Call If you receive a new call while yo u are already on a c all, you can connec t the second call to the call you are on. This feature is known as conference calling. You can also set up a conference call with multiple callers.

24 4.7 Communicating with Your Contacts From the Contacts or Favorites tab, you can quickly call or se nd a text (SMS) or multimedia message (MMS) to a contact’s default phone numb er. You can also open details to view a list of all the ways you can communic ate with that contact.

26 5 Using the Onscreen Keyboard 5.1 Displaying the Keyboard Panel To enter text, use the onsc reen keyboard. So me applications open the keyb oard automatically. In others, touch a text field to open the ke yboard. Touch the space where you want to w rite text to display the keyboard.

32 6.2.7 Changing Em ail Account Settings You can change a number of settings for an account, includ ing how often you check for emails, how you are notified of a new mail, and details about the servers the account uses to send and receive mails. Your account’s inco ming and outgoing settings depe nd on the kind of email service you are using.

Touch at the top of the screen to switch data servic es on. 7.2 WLAN WLAN gives you wireles s access to broadband I nternet access. To us e WLAN on your mobile phone, you need to have an access to wireles s access points (hotspots).
34 7.3 Sharing You r Phone’s Data Connection You can shar e your mobile p hone's data c onnection with a single comput er via a USB cable: USB tethering. You can share your mobile phone's data con nection with devices at the same time, by turn ing your phone into a portable WLAN hotspot.

60 12.5 Setting Text-to-Speech Use the Text-to-Sp eech settings to con figure the Android text-t o-speech synt hesizer, for applications that can take advantage of this feature. 12.5.1 Installing Voice Data 1. On the Settings screen, touch Voice input & output > Text-to-speech settings > Install voice data .
