When the Pocket PC screen be gins to fade, release the Calendar and iT ask buttons f irst, and then remove the stylus from the Reset b utton. Note : If you simultaneously push and hold the Reset, Calendar , and iT ask buttons for more than two seconds, the battery disconnects.

User ’s Guide 4–2 Lear ning the Basics Naviga tion B ar and C omman d B ar The Na vigation Bar is located at the top of the screen. It displays the Start button, acti ve notif ications (such as new e-mail, W i-Fi connection status, speaker status) and current time.

Use the pop-up menu to cut, copy , rename, and delete an item, also send an e-mail or send a f ile to another de vice. T o access a pop-up menu, tap and hold the stylus on the item on which you want to perform the action.

User ’s Guide 7–1 7 Using Sec urit y F ea ture s The widespread use of Pocket PCs has signif icantly increased employee producti vity . Howe ver , non-secured or inadequately secured Pocket PCs are creating network security issues for the corporate workplace when the y connect to a secure network.
User’s G uide 7–2 Using Sec urity F eatures Set ting Up Sec urit y Y ou should only need to set up security one time. Y ou can make changes to any of your security settings at a later time without going through the setup procedure again. Refer to “Manage Security Settings” later in this chapter for more information.
Using Sec urity F eatures User ’s Guide 7–3 ❏ Str ong alphanumeric password— enter a minimum of eight characters including at least one uppercase letter , one lo wercase letter , and one numbe.
User’s G uide 7–4 Using Sec urity F eatures 7. From the F ail-Safe Settings screen: ❏ Select the number of attempts you ha ve to answer your hint question correctly . ❏ Select what the de vice should do if you fail to answer your hint question correctly after the associated number of attempts.

Note : After the de vice has completed the reset process, you are asked for your f ingerprint, PIN, and/or password before you can begin using it ag ain.

If you hav e completely for gotten the answer to your hint question and will not remember it with further attempts, then you must tap the Reset Device b utton. Using Sec urity F eatures User ’s Guide 7–9 ■ In either case, a blue lock icon appears in the T askbar at the bottom of the T oday screen during decryption. When the icon disappears, decryption is complete. T ypically the Pocket PC responds more slo wly during the encryption/decryption process.

Using Sec urity F eatures User ’s Guide 7–13 Using t h e Fing erprin t Read er (not a v ail a b le on all m odels) It is recommended that you complete the f ingerprint reader training on your iP A Q Pocket PC prior to setting security settings to use a f ingerprint.
