3 1 Getting Started 1.1 Charging the Battery It is recommended that the NP-40 Lithiu m Battery be fully char ged before use. First, c onnect the ex ternal battery charger to the AC power source (w all outlet or pow er strip). Next, plug the ba t tery into the externa l charger as illustrated below.
4 1.2 Loading the Battery Please use only the batt ery prov i ded or recommended by the manufacturer or dea ler. Note: Incorrectly in serting the batteries could re s ult in non-repairabl e damage.
5 2. Insert the battery a c cording to the illustration. The electrode is inside of the camcord er. * DO NOT use NiM H AA batteries. 3. Close the battery cover.
6 1.3 Inserting SD Card 1. Open the Insert an S D card and make sure facing the touching face dow n wa rd. Note: Please be careful to in sert the SD c ard(s) a s illustrated abo v e so tha t damage to the SD card( s ) and c amc order does no t occur.

8 1.5 Buttons & Functions Description Button Function Power button Press the pow er button t o turn the Digital Ca mcorder ON/OFF. Opening and closing t he LCD panel will also powe r ON / OFF as well. Menu button Press the button to display the main menu.
9 Description Button Function Zoom toggle This Digital Ca mc order has 4X Digital zoom (in Video mode of HD1080p re solution only has 2X digital zoom). Move the Zoo m toggle to the right ( ) to zoom in, or move to the left ( ) to zoom out. Shutter button Press the button to capture a photo.

1 1 1.7 Initial Settings Before Use 1.7.1 Sett ing Date and T ime 1. The initial pow er up of this ca m corder should display the Date and Time setup menu as show n below. 2. Touch the desired field on the LC D panel or press LEFT/RIGHT on the 4-W ay Direction button t o navigate through the date an d time field.
12 1.8 Using the Touch Screen 1.8.1 Sing le Touch Single touch to act ivate hotkeys o n LCD screen. Example, in Video/ P hoto Mode: 1. Touch the icon to enter t he Setu p menu. 2. Touch the icon to z oom in and touc h t he icon to zoom out. 3. Touch the icon to set the camcor der in playback mode.

14 2 Modes 2.1 Video Mode 1. By default, this ca mc order w ill power up to Video mode . If the camcorder is not in Video m ode, press the until this m ode is selected . 2. Press the button to start or stop video recording. 3. The Digital Ca m corder w i ll store the movie clip automatically on the SD card when the recording s topped.
