The A VR 125 has been custom-designed to provide all the excitement and detail of movie soundtracks and every nuance of musical selections .
4 SAFETY INFORMATION SAFETY INFORMATION Important Safety Information V erify Line Voltage Before Use Y our A VR 125 has been designed for use with 120- volt AC current. Connection to a line voltage other than that for which it is intended can create a safety and fire hazard and may damage the unit.
FRONT-PANEL CONTROLS 5 1 Main Power Switch: Press this button to apply power to the AVR 125. When the switch is pressed in, the unit is placed in a Standby mode , as indicated by the amber LED 3 surrounding the System Po wer Control 2 . This button MUST be pressed in to operate the unit.
6 FRONT-PANEL CONTROLS FRONT-PANEL CONTROLS In Manual tuning mode , tap the button lightly and note that the tuner will step up one frequency increment per button press . When the button is held for a few sec- onds you will note that the unit will quickly advance through the frequency band.

OPERATION 23 OPERATION Surround Mode Selection One of the most important features of the AVR 125 is its ability to reproduce a full multichannel surround sound field from digital sources , analog matrix sur- round-encoded programs and standard stereo pro- grams .
24 OPERATION OPERATION Digital Status Indicators When a digital source is playing , the A VR 125 senses the type of bitstream data that is present. Using this information, the correct surround mode will automati- cally be selected.
OPERATION 25 OPERATION PCM Audio Playback PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is the noncompressed digital audio system used for compact discs and laser discs . The digital circuits in the AVR 125 are capable of high-quality digital-to-analog decoding , and they may be connected directly to the digital audio output of your CD or LD player .
