1. Before beginning any exercise program, con- sult your physician. This is especially impor- tant for persons over the age of 35 or per- sons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
4 20. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the key, unplug the power cord, and switch the reset/off cir- c uit breaker to the off position when the treadmill is not in use. (See the drawing on p age 5 for the location of the circuit breaker.
5 Thank you for selecting the revolutionary GOLDʼS GYM ® MAXX CROSSWALK 650 treadmill. The MAXX CROSSWALK 650 treadmill offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective.
1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its left side. Partially fold the Frame (58) so that the treadmill is more stable; do not fully fold the Frame yet. Identify the Right Upright (107), and hold it near the Base (108) at the angle shown.
3. Attach two Base Pads (82) to the Base (108) with two #8 x 1" Tek Screws (83) as shown. Insert an Extension Leg (89) into the Base (108) as shown.
7. Insert the Upright Wire (77) and the C onsol e Wire (6 6) into the Right Upright (10 7). Set the console assembly on the Uprights (84, 107). Be careful not to pinch the w ires.
9 9. With the help of a second person, carefully lower the Left and Right Uprights (84, 107) to the position shown. See the lower drawing. Position the Uprights (84, 107) so that the treadmill Frame (58) is centered between the Uprights. Firmly tighten the two 3/8" x 1" Bolts (106) and the two 3/8" x 2 3/4" Bolts (105).
10 1. Remove the key from the console and unplug the power cord. Remove the indicated #8 x 3/4" Screw (3) and the Access Doo r (76) f rom t he bac k of the Cons ole B ase (8 5). 2. Connect the wire on the receiver (A) to the indi- cated wire extending from the Console Base (85).
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.

13 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to c old temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not d o this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.
14 4. Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the I nclin e increase and decrease buttons or one of the incline buttons numbered 0 to 10. Each time y ou press the Incline increase or decrease button, the incline will change by 0.

16 HOW TO USE A CROSS TRAINER WORKOUT 1. Inser t the key into the c onsole. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 3. 2. Select one of the six cross trainer workouts.

W hen the first strength e xercise segment be- gins (only one indicator will flash in the Current Segment column), the walking belt will slow to a stop and the name of the first strength exercise will appear in the display for a few sec- onds.
18 HOW TO USE A DISTANCE WORKOUT 1. Inser t the key into the c onsole. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 3. 2. Select a distance workout. To select the 5K or the 10K workout, press the 5K Race button or the 10K Race button; “P 7” or “P 8” and a track will appear in the display.
19 HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1. Inser t the key into the c onsole. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 3. 2. Select a preset workout. To select a preset work- out, press one of the Fat Burn or Aerobic but- tons; “P 9,” “P10,” “P11,” or “P12” will appear in the display.
20 THE INF ORMAT ION MOD E The console features an information mode that keeps t rack of treadmill usage information. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as t he unit of measurement, to select an audio trainer set- ting, to adjust the volume and to turn on and turn off the demo mode.
21 THE OPTIONAL CHEST PULSE SENSOR An optional chest pulse sensor offers hands-free oper- a tion as it tracks your heart rate during your workouts. To purchase the optional chest pulse sensor, call t he telephone number on the front cover of this manual.
22 HOW TO USE THE UPPER BODY ARMS As you walk on the treadmill, you can hold the h andrails or use the upper body arms. To exercise your arms, shoulders, and back for a total body work- o ut, move the upper body arms forward and back as you walk on the treadmill.

25 TROUBLESHOOTING M ost treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
Raise the Uprights (84, 107) to the vertical position. Remove the three #8 x 3/4" Hood Screws (7) from the Hood (41), and carefully pivot the Hood off. Locate t he Reed Sw itch (63 ) and the Ma gnet (46) on the left s ide of the Pu lley (47 ). Turn th e Pulley un til the Magnet i s aligne d with the Re ed Switc h.
27 PROBLEM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on SOLUTION: a. If the walking belt is off-center, first remove the key a nd UNPLUG THE POWER CORD .

29 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
