Page 10 Remote Control Remote Control Operation The remote contr ol is the secondary input device for navigating the system’ s interface. Page 11 PRODUCT OVER VIEW MOUSE AND VIR TUAL KEYP AD Mouse Operation with this DVR The mouse is the primary input device for navigating system menus. NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all system functions described in this manual are achieved thr ough mouse input.
Page 12 Installing Cameras Mounting Cameras and Running Cable Select the position for the camera and secure the camera stand. Scr ew the camera onto the stand. Adjust camera to the proper view angle. Make sure the lens is upright r elative to the subject.
Page 13 System Start Up Power On/Off T o power the system On/Off, connect the power cable to the DC 12V port on the rear panel. Flip the toggle switch on in the back of the DVR. At startup, the system performs a basic system check and runs an initial loading sequence.
Page 14 Password Setup Setting Up Passwords & User Permissions When you first startup your DVR, you are automatically logged in as the ADMIN. By default, passwords ar e disabled on the system. Y ou will not need a password to log in or access menus.

Access the GUI display screen from the MAIN MENU , click SYSTEM, then CLICK GUI DISPLA Y . GUI Display T o set-up the display select SYSTEM from the MAIN Menu; then select GUI Display .
Page 17 Language, Date and Time Setting Up Language/Date/Time The SYSTEM Setup Menu contains the following sub-menus: Language, Date/Time, Password, Display , and Video/Audio. Language T o change the system language: from the LANGUAGE drop down menu select the language amongst 26 differ ent languages.
Page 18 BASIC OPERA TION RECORDING Recording RECORD Mode Configure Recor ding Options: Y ou have three r ecor ding modes: Schedule, Manual and Stop. By default, the DVR is set to recor d by schedule. T o set the recording options, right click fr om the mouse and click on RECORD MODE.
Page 19 BASIC OPERA TION RECORDING Region Cover REGION COVER lets you block a specific portion of a channel you do not want recor ded or shown on the display screen. This can be useful if you need to conceal a sensitive area being captured by the camera.
Page 20 BASIC OPERA TION PLA YBACK playback SEARCH Mode Record Sear ch View recorded video on the system thr ough the SEARCH Menu. Video can be played from the attached hard drive or fr om an attached backup device. Device must be attached prior to search being made.
Page 21 BASIC OPERA TION PLA YBACK Backup NOTE: The system is compatible with most major brands of USB flash drives, with capacities from 256 MB to 4 GB. T o backup recorded data: 1. Connect a blank USB flash drive to the Bottom USB port on the back of the DVR.
Page 22 Email Tip Depending upon your settings, the system can generate a lot of email alerts. For that reason, we r ecommend setting up a dedicated email address specifically for the Security System alert notices. Also to better manage your alerts, you will want the alert emails to go to a differ ent account than the one sending them.
Page 23 ADV ANCED OPERA TION ALARM Video Blind Video Blind is a feature that detects when the camera is covered or is being obstructed by light with the inability to capture live camera viewing. There ar e 6 sensitivity settings from Lowest to Highest.
Page 24 ADV ANCED OPERA TION SYSTEM System Info and System Update System Information: View system information, including the firmware version, MAC address, and serial number of the system. T o access this menu, from the MAIN MENU click ADV ANCED then click VERSION.
Page 25 Pan tilt zoom...PTZ Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) Setup: NOTE: Consult the instruction manual of your PTZ camera for complete information about your camera, including protocol, baud rate and parity settings before beginning setup. Enter these settings in the DVR.
Page 26 ADV ANCED OPERA TIONS PTZ SETUP Pan Tilt Zoom...PTZ Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) Setup Continued: PTZ functions include: PTZ directional contr ol, zoom, focus, iris, operation setup, preset cr eation, set tour (patrol) sequences between pr eset views, and scan (pattern) between 2 locations.
Page 27 Network Setup for Remote Access Use the NETWORK SETUP menu to configure your network and DNS settings for remote access. If you ar e only going to access the DVR locally from a computer attached to the same r outer as the DVR, you only need to configure settings using either the DHCP or ST A TIC IP .
Page 28 T o configure Static IP settings in the DVR: 1. Select ST A TIC IP from the TYPE drop down box in the NETWORK SETUP Menu. 2. Enter your IP Address, Subnet mask, and Gateway info you obtained from your computer thr ough the previous step in the respective fields using the Virtual Keyboard.
Page 29 DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name Service) A DDNS account allows you to set up a web site address that points back to your Local Network so you can access the DVR over the Internet using a static or dynamic IP address. One problem with a dynamic address is your internet service provider (ISP) changes this address fr om time to time.
Page 30 Next configure DDNS settings in the DVR From the Network Setup menu, enter Primary or Secondary DNS from the W AN settings of your r outer in the DNS field 1. Click DDNS SETTINGS. 2. Under DDNS, select ON. 3. Under SERVICE, select DYNDNS if you obtained your domain name from DynDNS.

Page 34 Live Viewing T ab: By default, Remote Surveillance opens in Live Viewing mode (split-screen). T o use Live Viewing: 1. Click LIVE at the top of the main screen. 2. Click the display mode icons to view the main screen in single-channel, quad, or split-scr een configurations.
Page 35 Playback T ab Use the Replay menu to search and playback r ecorded video on your system. T o use the replay menu: 1. Click REPLA Y at the top of the main screen. The main screen will be gr ey . 2. Click REFRESH below the calendar to view the recor ded files for the current month.
Page 36 Search Use the calendar and drop-down menus to sear ch for recor ded video on your system. 1. Click < > to change the month on the calendar . Dates with recor ded video data will appear in bold. 2. Click the date. Recorded video files will populate the File List.
Page 37 Setup T ab Use the SETUP tab to configure the settings of your system fr om a remote location. NOTE: If the Main Menu is open on the system, you will not be able to make changes to the system from the r emote location. T o open remote setup: Click SETUP at the top of the main screen.
Page 38 Remote Setup - Host Info Screen HOST INFO This interface allows you to view system information such as HDD status, remain r ecord time, firmwar e version and MAC Address. All the information is for viewing only and cannot be changed remotely .
