Focus Adjustment 45 Focus Adjustment Y ou can adjust the focus manuall y and use the peaking func tion to assist you or you can l et the camcor der focus for you by using autofocu s. W ith autofocus, you can set the autofocus sp eed. The c amcorder also featur es two more focusing functions, f ace detect ion and T ouch & T ra c k.

Focus A djustment 48 T o select the main subject If th ere is more than one per son in the p i ctur e, the c amcorder will automa tically s elect o ne person i t determi nes is the main s ubject. The main su b jec t is indicated by a white fac e detection fram e and the camcor der will optimize t he settings for that p erson.
Focus Adjustment 49 NOTES • T ouching some w her e with a color or patt er n unique to t he subject w ill make it ea sier to track. However , if ther e is an other subject in the vi cinity that shar es simila r charact eristics t o the select ed subject, the camcorder m ay st art trackin g the i ncorrect su bject.
Zooming 50 Zooming There ar e three ways you can zoom in and out: using the zoom le ver on the ca mcorder , using t he zoom buttons on the wireless controll e r or us ing the zoom controls on the touch scre e n. In addition to the 10x optical zoom , in m ode, you can turn on the digital zoom* (40x or 200x) with th e 7 [Digit al Zoom] s etting.

Exposure Adjustm ent 57 Exposure Adjustment At times, backlit subjects may appe ar too dark (underexposed) or subjects under very str ong lights may appear to o bright or glaring (overexp os ed) . In such ca s es, ad justing the exp osur e will co rrect this .

Using an Extern al Microphone 72 Using an Exte rnal Microphone When recording in v ery quiet surroundin gs, the bu ilt-in micropho ne may pic k up the s ound of the camco rder’ s inter nal ma chine ry . When recording outs ide, the bu ilt-in m icrophon e may pick up excessi ve noise fr om wind.
