4 Safety Pr ecautions The precautions noted within this guide are intended to instruct you in the saf e and correct use of the products and to pre vent injuries or damage to yourself , other persons and proper ty . Please read and ensure that y ou understand them before proceeding to other sections of the guide.
5 Read This First About the Manuals This user guide describes how to connect the printer to a computer and pr int images. CP-100 or CP-10 User Guide Provides printer handling notes, safety precautions, printer preparation, names of parts and other information necessary for operating the printer.
6 Printing Flow Diagram F ollow the steps outlined below to prepare the printer and install the necessar y softw are to enable printing. Prepare the printer . Inser t paper cassette and ink cassette . See CP-100 or CP-10 user guide. Install the necessary software .
7 About the Connection Cable T o connect the printer to your computer , you m ust use a USB cable. A USB cable is pro vided with the “Computer Connection Kit CCK-CP200”, but y ou can also purchase a USB cable separ ately as indicated below . 8 Installing the Softwar e from the Solution Disk Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk contains softw are required for printing from your computer . Installing 1 Close any pr ograms that are running. 2 Place the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk in the CD-ROM drive.
9 3 Click [Software Installation]. 4 Read the product license a greement. If you agree to all of its conditions, clic k the [Y es] button. Y ou m ust agree to the product license agreement bef ore you can install the software . 5 V erify the installation destination, and then c lick the [Ne xt] button.
10 This section describes how to uninstall applications, using ZoomBro wser EX as an e xample. 1 Click the [Start] button and select [Pr ograms] ([All Programs] f or Windows XP), [Canon Utilities], [ZoomBrowser EX], and [ZoomBro wser EX Uninstall]. Uninstallation begins and ZoomBrowser EX is remo ved.
11 Installing the Printer Driver Installing This section describes how to install the printer dr iv er on your computer . Installation star ts automatically the first time y ou connect the pr inter to your computer’ s USB por t. Important • Be sure to follow the procedures given in this section when installing the printer driver.
12 Windows 98 1 Close any pr ograms that are running. 2 T urn the printer on. ( ➡ p.32) 3 Connect the printer to y our computer , using the USB cable. ( ➡ p.33) After a moment, the Add New Hardw are Wizard dialog appears . 4 Click the [Ne xt] button.
13 7 Select “Specify a location”. Click the [Bro wse] button to select the [CP_DR VENGLISHWIN9XCP100] folder on the CD-ROM and clic k the [OK] button. Then click the [Ne xt] button. F or the CP 10, select the [CP_DR VENGLISHWIN9XCP10] folder . Do not select “CD-ROM drive”.
14 8 Click the [Ne xt] button. The USB driver f or the printer is installed. 9 When the follo wing message appears, click the [Finish] b utton. Now y ou can continue and install the printer dr iver . 10 When the follo wing message appears, click the [Ne xt] button.
15 11 Select “Sear ch for the best driver f or your de vice (Recommended). ” and then clic k the [Next] button. 12 Because the folder specified in step 7 alread y appears here, simply c lick the [Ne xt] button. Do not select “CD-ROM drive”. 13 Click the [Ne xt] button.
16 14 Adjust any necessary settings, and then click the [Finish] b utton. The printer dr iver is installed. 15 When the follo wing message appears, click the [Finish] b utton.

19 8 Select “A utomatic searc h for a better driver (Recommended)” and then clic k the [Next] b utton. 9 In the list of printer drivers, select [Canon CP-100] so that [CP_DR VENGLISHWIN9XCP100CNY100.INF] appears in [Location], then clic k the [OK] button.
20 10 Adjust any necessary settings, and then click the [Finish] b utton. The printer dr iver is installed. 11 When the follo wing message appears, click the [Finish] b utton.

27 If you ha ve prob lems with the printer dr iver installation (f or example , the printer dr iver’ s installation program stops during the installation), the USB driver ma y not be installed correctly . 1 When the Add Ne w Hardware Wizard dialog appear s, c lick the [Cancel] button to cancel the installation.
28 5 Click the [De vice Manager] tab. 6 Following the e xamples shown below , select [Canon CP-100] or [Canon CP-10] under [Universal Serial Bus contr ollers] or [Other devices], and then clic k the [Remove] button. Example 1: Use the following screen examples as a reference and make sure you select the correct device for deletion.
29 Example 2: 7 When the confirmation message appears, clic k the [OK] button. 8 Click the [OK] b utton to close the System Pr oper ties dialog. 9 Close the Control P anel window . 10 Disconnect the USB cable fr om your computer . 11 Restart your computer .

32 T urning On the Printer ■ With CP-100 1 Connect the compact power adapter to the printer , and then connect the A C cable to the compact power adapter and a po wer outlet. 2 Press the ON/OFF button until the printer’ s indicator lights orange. The printer is on when the pr inter’ s indicator light changes from orange to green.
33 Connecting the Printer to Y our Computer ■ Notes about connection • Using the USB cable, be sure to connect the printer directly to your computer.
34 1 Connect one end of the USB cable to the DIGIT AL terminal on the printer , and the other end to a USB por t on your computer . • There is no need to turn off the pr inter when connecting it to your computer .
35 Printing This section describes how to use PhotoRecord to print images registered in ZoomBrowser EX. ZoomBrowser EX and PhotoRecord are applications included on the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk.
36 Star ting ZoomBr owser EX 1 Double-c lick the [ZoomBr owser EX] icon on the desktop. Or , click the [Start] button and select [Programs] ([All Pr ograms] for WIndows XP), [Canon Utilities], [ZoomBrowser EX], and [ZoomBro wser EX] to star t the program.
37 2 Click [La yout Print]. 3 Click [1 Select Ima ges] and click an ima g e y ou want to print. When you select [Index Print], use the following procedure to print. 1. Click [1 Select Images] and click an image you want to print. 2. Click [2 Select Captions f or Pr inting] and select captions.
38 4 Click [2 Select Captions f or Printing] and select captions. 5 Click [3 Open La yout Print]. PhotoRecord opens, then the PhotoRecord Print Modes window and the PhotoRecord la yout window appear . Selecting this check mark enables you to add comments, a file name or date to printouts.
39 Selecting a Print Mode This section describes how to select a print mode in PhotoRecord, and then print on standard sheet or full-size label sheet. For inf or mation on how to print on an 8-label sheet, see Pr inting Duplicate Images on an 8-Label Sheet ( ➡ p .
40 3 Select the paper size, and then c lick the [Finish] b utton. Close the PhotoRecord Print Modes window . The print mode settings are now re fl ected in the album page windo w . T o open the PhotoRecord Print Modes window again, click (print modes) in the PhotoRecord la yout window .
41 3 Select “Bor dered” or “Bor derless”, and then click the [Finish] button. If you select “ Bordered ” , the image is automatically resized to fi t within the print. T o print bordered images, be sure to select “ Bordered ” . Close the PhotoRecord Print Modes window .
42 2 Click the [Pr operties] button. At this point, do not change the printer . 3 Click the [Print Settings] tab, and then set the print orientation and the number of copies. F or details, click the [?] b utton or [Help] button to see the online help .

44 6 Adjust other settings, and then clic k the [Print] button. Printing star ts. If you stop printing while printing is in progress, paper is ejected to the paper handling slot and an error message may be displayed. This is not a malfunction, but a mechanism for protecting the print head.
45 Printing Duplicate Images on an 8-Label Sheet PhotoRecord allows y ou to print duplicate images. This makes it possib le to print multiple copies of the same image on an 8-label sheet. 1 In the PhotoRecord Print Modes windo w , select “CP-100 multiple printing”, and then clic k the [Finish] button.
46 2 Right-clic k the image you want to print, and then select [Make Copies]. 3 For [Number of copies], enter 7 and clic k the [OK] button. The images are laid out in replicate, with their positions adjusted f or the eight labels on the 8-label sheet.
47 Printing Dif ferent Images on an 8-Label Sheet Y ou can also pr int a combination of diff erent images on an 8-label sheet. 1 In the PhotoRecord Print Modes windo w , select “CP-100 multiple printing”, and then clic k the [Finish] button. With the CP-10, select “ Photo pr inter multiple printing ” , and then click the [Finish] button.
48 Printing Par t of an Image (T rimming) Y ou can select and then pr int a por tion of an image (tr imming). This is useful when you only w ant to print par t of an image, or if the par t you are most interested in is not at the center of the image. 1 Right-clic k the image you want to print, and then select [Clip/ Correct Photo].
49 2 Select the area y ou want to print, and then c lick the (CLOSE) button. The Photo Control P anel dialog closes and the selected area appears in the album page windo w . 3 Click the (PRINT) button to start printing. This determines the area to print.
50 Printing with Image Quality Correction PhotoRecord has a function that suppor ts Exif 2.2 (referred to as Exif Print), allowing y ou to automatically optimize print quality and print clearer , better- looking images. 1 Click the ima ge you want to print, and select [Clip/Correct Photo].
51 2 Select [Exif Print] or [PHO T O OPTIMIZER PRO] and and then c lick the (Close) button. After you select [Exif Print] or [PHO T O OPTIMIZER PRO], the corrected image is displa yed.
52 Other Printing Functions By selecting [Ar twork/Lay out album] in the PhotoRecord Print Mode window , you can add te xt or decorative embellishments to an image when printing it. Also , you can combine the diff erent functions and create your own original name card.
53 Appendices About the Print Ar ea and Pixels Print Area The shaded area ( ) in the f ollowing diagrams indicates the maxim um printable area. Note that because the print area is larger than the actual paper size, a border is trimmed from the image when it is pr inted.
