Clothi ng Actual w eather condi tions shou ld help you decide how to d ress. Howev er , it is important that the op erator alway s wear the app ropriate protective clothing and app arel, including an approved helmet, eye protection, boots, gloves, long sleeve d shirt a nd pa nts.
Car ryi ng Lo ad s An y load ca rrie d on th e veh icle wi ll affec t the sta bility an d co ntro l of the veh i- cle. For this reas on, do not exceed the lo ad limits of the vehicle's m anufacturer . Always mak e sure the load i s secured a nd canno t interfere with your proper c on- trol.
Observe the rule... “ w hat you take in, carry out ” . Do no t litter . D o not start campfires unless you have permi ssion to do so. .. and then only . .. away from dry areas. The hazards you may crea te on the trail may cause injury to others or yoursel f, even at a later date.
U ph i ll D r iv in g Due to configurati on, this v ehicle has exce llent cl imbing abili ty , so much so that tipover is pos sible before traction is l ost. For exa mple, its co mmon to en counter terrain situations where the to p of the hill has eroded to a po int that the hill peak rises very sharply .
T o m aintain proper control it is s trongly advised tha t you keep yo ur hands on the handleba r and w ithin easy reach of al l controls. The same hol ds true fo r your feet. T o m inimize the possibility of any leg or foot inju r y , keep your feet on the footrests at all times.
V00A0VL Water wil l affect the braki ng abili ty of your vehicle . M ake su re you dry the brakes by applyi ng them several ti mes after the vehicl e leave s the water . Mud or marsh lands ma y be encou ntered near wa ter . Be prepa red for sudd en “ holes ” o r changes in depth.
When riding in sand dunes it is advisable to equip the vehicle with an antenna type safety fl ag. This will help make y our location m ore visible t o others over the next sand dune .
Uphill Keep your bo dy weight forw ard towards th e top of the hill. Ke ep your feet on the footpegs and shift i nto low gear then acc elerate and when necessary , change gear quickly as you climb. Do not over-speed since this may c ause the front of the vehicle to lift fr om the grou nd and fall back on yo u.
Downhill Keep your body weigh t rearwards. Apply the brake gradua lly to prevent skid ding. Do not “ coast ” dow n the slope using solely engine compression or in neutral gear .
Side Hilling This is one of the m ost ri sky types of riding since it may drastically change the balance of the veh icle. It should be avoided where ver possible. If it is ne cessary to do so howev er , it is important that you AL WA YS keep y our body wei ght on the upside of the slope .
Changing t he wheel and /or tire siz e may a ffect the sta bility of the ve hicle. Incor - rect tire pressure m ay lead to blow outs or cause a tire to move around on its rim and become lost or damaged. W heels or tires which are damaged shoul d always be replaced.
HANG T AG This vehicle comes w ith a hang tag and labels containing importa nt safety infor - mation. Any person who ride s thi s vehicle shou ld read and un derstand this information before riding.

Ba ttery This veh icle is equippe d with a dry type battery that requires no mainte- nance. Refe r t o MAI NTENANCE secti on to re - move or install the battery .
BREAK-I N PE RIOD Engi ne A break-in perio d of 10 operating hours is required before running the vehicle at sustained full throttle. CAUT ION: Never mix oil wit h fuel. This vehicle has a 4-str oke engine. Oil mu s t be a dde d to oi l tan k o nly . During this period, max imum throttle should not e xceed 3/4.
OP ER A TING I NST R UC T I ON S Ge ne ra l This vehicle has five-forward gears. T o allow engine starting, the transmis- sion m ust be on NEUTR AL or squeeze the clutch lever to start in any gear . Press start button an d hold until en- gine starts. Rele ase start button immediatel y when engine has started. WA R N I N G Do not apply th rottle while st art- in g. After a few second s, move the lever to half position. NO TE: Overus ing choke may flood en- gine and make it hard to start.
T o upshi ft to a hig her g ear , put the end of yo ur boot under gears hift lever a nd lift u p the ped al on e full stroke. T o down shift, lean the tip of the gea rshift peda l and d epress pe dal one full stroke. V02D05Y WA R N I N G Always release the th rottle when shifting g ears.
