14 Power Supply GETTING STARTED Battery After making sure that the power is off, re move the battery compartmen t cover on the back of the machine. If the batteries are already in the machine, remove them.

16 Insertin g a Tape Casset te GETTING STARTED Tape cassettes of 0.13", 0.23", 0.35", 0.47" or 0.70" (3.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12 mm or 18mm) width can be used in your P-t ouch labeler. Use on ly Brother tape casse ttes with the mark.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 17 z GETTING STARTED Turning Power On/Off Insert the tape cassette int o the tape compartment, with the e nd of the tape facing the machine's tap e exit slot, and press firmly until you hear a click. Close the tape compartment cover.
18 Feeding Tape GETTING STARTED Feed function The Feed function feeds 0.98" (25mm) of blank tape. Hold down the Shift key and press the Preview key.

20 Entering and Editing Text EDITING A LABEL Entering T ext from the Key board • The keyboard of your P- touch labeler can be used in the same way as a standard computer keyboard. Adding a New Line • To end the current li ne of text and start a new line, press the Enter key.

EDITING A LABEL 22 Entering Symbols In addition to the symbols available on the keyboard, there are variou s symbols (including internationa l and extended ASCI I characters) available with the symbol function. To enter a symbol, use the Symbol function (see belo w).

EDITING A LABEL 24 Entering Acc ented Characters The P-touch labeler can display and print a se t of accented characters such as other language specific characters. Enter the character you wish to change to an accente d character. Press t he Accent key.

After all text fields are entered, the print menu i s displayed when the OK or Enter key is pressed. Select "Print" using the or key and then pr ess the OK or Enter key to print the label.

41 Label Preview 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 z LABEL PRINTING LABEL PRINTING Using the Preview function you can check the layout of the l abel before printing. Press the Preview key. An image of the label is displayed on the scr een. The length of the label is shown in the lower -right corner of the screen.
LABEL PRINTING 42 Printing a La bel Printing a Sing le Copy Make sure that the appropriate tape cassette is inserted an d ready for printi ng. Press t he Print key. "Printing...Copies" is displayed while the labels are being printed. Printing Multipl e Copie s Using this function you can print up to 9 cop ies of the same label.

LABEL PRINTING 44 Printing a La bel Mirror Printing Using the mirror printi ng function you can create la bels with the text printed in rever se so that they can be read fr om the opposite side when attached to glass or other transparent material. Make sure that the appropriate tape cassette is inserted an d ready for printi ng.

In particular, the “Chain” options grea tly reduce the amount of wasted tape by using smaller margins and eliminating blank sections cut between labels.
LABEL PRINTING 46 Adjusting the Label Le ngth You can adjust the length of the printed label in levels of -5 to +5. Press the Setup key to display the setup menu, select "Adjust Length" using th e or key, and then press the OK or Enter key. Select "Adjust Len gth" by using the or key, and then set the value by using the or key.

51 Storing a Label into Memory 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 z USING THE FILE MEMORY USING THE FILE MEMORY You can store up to 9 of your most frequently used labels in the file memory. Each label is stored as a file, allowing you to quickly and easily recall your label when needed again.

MAINTAINING YOUR P-TOUCH LABELER 54 Maintenance Clean ing the Tape Cut ter Tape adhesive can build up on the cutter blade after repeated use, taking the edge off the blade which may result in the tape jamming in the cutter. • About once every year, w ipe the cutter blade using a cotton swa b moistened with Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).
