English- 16 CONTROLS Controls This operator’s manual describes the Dixon Zero T urn Rider . The rider is fitted with a Briggs & S tratton, Kohler , Honda or Kawasa ki four stroke V -twin engine developing 20 - 26 horse power . T ransmission fr om the engine is made via two belt-driven hydraulic transaxles, one for each drive wheel.
English- 17 CONTROLS 1. Parking Brake The parkin g brake is found on the lef t of the machine. Pull the lever backward to activate the brake and forward to release it. 2. Motion Control Levers The machine’ s speed and directio n are continuously variable us ing the two steering controls.
English- 18 CONTROLS positions when standing still or do not fit in the slots for moving the contr ols outward, they can be adjusted. T racking If the mower is not tr acking straight, check the air pressure in both rear tires. Recommended air pressure is 15 psi.
English- 19 CONTROLS 5. Refueling Read the safety instructions before refue ling. The machine has one fuel t ank, just behind the seat. The tank volume is 5.4 gallon s (20.4 liters). Make sure the fuel cap is proper ly tightened and the cap gasket is not damaged.
English- 20 CONTROLS 6. By p ass linkage When pushing or pulling the mower , be sure to engage the IZT (Integrated Zer oturn T ransaxle) byp ass linkages. The IZT bypass linkages are locate d on the rear of the frame, below the rear engine gu ard. • Raise the deck into the highest cutting position.
English- 21 CONTROLS 8. Hour Meter The hour meter displays the tot al operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour intervals. The flash duration is on e hour before and o ne hour af ter the interval. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
English- 22 CONTROLS 1 1. Throttle Control The throttle control r egulates the engine speed and thereby the rate of rot ation of the blades, assuming the bla de switch is pulled out, see Engaging the Mowe r Deck. In order to increase or decrease the en gine speed, the control is moved forwa rd or backward respectively .
English- 23 CONTROLS 13. Cutting height pedal The cutting deck height is obt ained by pressing the foot p edal lif t arm forward and releasing the transport latch. Th en lower the deck to the preset height. T o raise the deck push forward on the foot ped al lift arm until the transport la tch locks.

English- 25 OPERATION Before S t arting • Read the sections Safety Instructions and Contro ls before starting the machine. • Perform the daily mainten ance before starting (se e Maintenance Schedule in the Maintenance sectio n). • Check that there is suf ficient fuel in the fuel tank.
English- 26 OPERATION 4. Disengage the mowe r blades by depressing the bla de switch. 5. Move the steering con trols outward to the locked (outer) neutral position.
English- 27 OPERATION 7. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled out to its extent s. 8. Open the fuel shut of f valve. 9. Press in and turn t he ignition key to the start position.
English- 28 OPERATION 10. When the engine st arts, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. 1 1. Slide the choke control gradually when the engine has star ted.
English- 29 OPERATION T o start an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too we ak to start the engine , it should be recharged. (See “ Battery” on page 37).
English- 30 OPERATION Running 1. Release the p arking brake by moving the lever forwar d. Y our mower is equipped with an operator presence sy stem. When th e engine is running, any at tempt by the opera tor to leave the seat without first setting the parking brake will shut of f the engine.

English- 32 OPERATION Mowing Tip s • Observe and flag rocks and other fixed objects to avoid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The average lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season an d over 3" (76 mm) durin g the hot months.
English- 33 OPERATION Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a minute in order to attain normal operating tempe rature before stopping it, if it has been worked hard. A void idling the engine for longe r periods, as there is a risk of the spark plugs fouling.

English- 35 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The following is a list of maintenance procedures th at must be performed on the ma chine. For those point s not described in this manual, visit an authorized se rvice workshop.
English- 36 MAINTENANCE 1) First change after 5-8 hours. Whe n operating with a heavy load or at high ambient temperatures, replace every 50 hours. 2) In dust y conditions, cleaning and replacement are requir ed more often. 3) For daily use, th e machine should be lubricated twice weekl y .
English- 37 MAINTENANCE Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenan ce free battery and does not need servicing. However , periodic charging of the b attery with an automotive type battery char ger will extend its life. • Keep battery and terminals clean.

English- 39 MAINTENANCE Checking the Safety System The machine is equipped with a safety system that pr events starting or driving under the following conditions. The engine can only be st arted when: 1. The mower de ck is disengaged. 2. The steering controls are in the outer , locked neutral position.
English- 40 MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Int ake Check that the engine’ s cooling air intake is free from leaves, g rass, and dirt. If the cooling air int ake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lea d to engine damage.
English- 41 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Air Filter - Briggs & St ratton Engine St andard air fi lter If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly , the air filter ma y be clo gged. If run with a dirty air filter , the sp ark plugs can become fouled disrupting ope ration.
English- 42 MAINTENANCE Replacing Heavy Duty Air Filter (Kohler) If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly and the dust load indicator has turned red the air filter may be clo gged. If run with a clogged air filter , disruption of operation can occur .
English- 43 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Air Filter (Honda) St andard air fi lter If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly , the air filter ma y be clo gged.
English- 44 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-moun ted fuel filter every 100 hours (once per seaso n) or more regularly if it is clogged. Replace the filter as follows: 1. Move the hose clamp s away from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
English- 45 MAINTENANCE Checking the Parking Brake Visuall y check that no damage is found on the lever , links, or switc h belonging to the parking brake. Perform a stand-still test and check that there is suf ficent braking action. T o adjust the parking brake, cont act the Husqvarna service workshop.
English- 46 MAINTENANCE Deck belt inst allation NOTE: For ease in installing the deck belt, refer to the routing decal on the fr ont edge of the deck. • Wrap the deck belt around the electric clutch that is located on the engine shaf t. • Push the rest of the b elt through the IZT(Integraded Zero turn T ransaxle) support and up ont o the deck.

English- 48 MAINTENANCE Checking the Blades In order to attain the best mowing effect, it is important that th e blades are well sharpen ed and not damaged . Bent or cra cked blades or blades with large nicks should be re placed. Damaged blades should be r eplaced when hitting obstacles th at result in a breakdown.
English- 49 MAINTENANCE Blade replacement : • Remove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise. • Install new o r re-sharpened blade with stamped "GRASS SIDE" facing towards ground/grass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck and cutte r housing.
English- 50 MAINTENANCE Adjusting the Mower Deck Check the tir e pressure bef ore adjustment of the mover deck, refer to p age 44. Faulty mower deck adjustment will cause uneven mowing result. Leveling 1. Position the mowe r on a level, preferably concrete, su rface.
English- 51 MAINTENANCE T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Anti-scalp rollers are properly adj usted when they are just slightly off of the ground when the deck is at the desired cutting height in the operating position. Anti-scalp rollers then keep the deck in the prop er position to help prevent scalping in most terrain conditions.
English- 52 MAINTENANCE Cleaning and W ashing Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mower de ck, will increase the machine’ s lifespan. Make it a habit to clean the machine direc tly after use (after it is cooled), before the dirt sticks.
English- 53 MAINTENANCE Parking brake T o adjust parking brake Jack up unit and support pr operly with jack stands. Allow cl earance to work at rear transaxles. Before ma king any adjustments: Set park brake. Measure the distance b etween the rod swivel pin and the brake a rm washer .
English- 54 LUBRICATION Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remove the ignition ke y to prevent unintentional movement s during lubrication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise st ated, use a high grade molybden um disulfide grease.
English- 55 LUBRICATION Lubricating the Cables If possible, grease both end s of the cables and move the controls to en d stop pos itions when lubricating. Refit the rubber covers on the cables af ter lubrication. Cables with sheaths will bind if they are not lubricated regularly .
English- 56 LUBRICATION 4. Deck outer spindle Lubricate using a gre ase gun, one zerk, each side 2-3 strokes . Use only good quality bearing grease. 5. Engine Oil Changing the Engine Oil The engine oil sh ould be changed for the first time afte r 5-8 hours of operation.
English- 57 LUBRICATION Checking the Oil Level Check the oil level in the engine when the machine is s tanding level and the engine is stopped. Remove the dip stick, wipe it clean, and then replace it. The dipstick should be screwe d into place. T ake the dipstick out again and re ad the oil level.
English- 58 LUBRICATION 6. Changi ng the Engi ne Oil Filter 1. Drain the engine oil in accordance with the work description under the heading Engine Oil/Change Engi ne Oil. 2. Remove the oil filter . If necessary , use a filter remover . 3. Wipe new , clean engine oil onto the seal for the new filter .
English- 59 LUBRICATION 7. Drain old oil filters of all free flowing oil prior to disposal. Place used oil in appropriat e containers and d ispose of it in accordance with la ws in your area. 8. Remove the top port plug (see illustration) from the left side and right side of the transaxles prior to filling with oil.
English- 60 LUBRICATION Purging Procedure s Due to the effects air has on ef ficiency in hydrostatic drive applications, it is critical that it is purged from the system. These purge procedure s should be implemented an y time a hydrostatic system has been opened to fac ilit ate maintenance or any additional oil has been added to the system.

English- 64 STORAGE St o ra g e Winter S torage At the end of the mowing season, the machine should be readied for storag e (or if it will not be in use for longer tha n 30 days). Fuel allowed to stand fo r long periods of time (30 days or more) can leave sticky residues that can plug the carburetor and disrupt engine function.
