STEP 1 – FILLING THE W A TER T ANK • Ensure the P ower On/Of f button is ‘Off’ and the Selector Control is set to the ‘•’ Standby position. • T urn the machine off at the pow er outlet and unplug the power cord. • Remov e the Filter H older if locked into the Brew H ead and move the S team W and to the side of the machine.
15 OPERATING YOUR BREVILLE 800 CLASS ESPRESSO MACHINE STEP 4 – PRIMING THE BREW HEAD • Before placing the F ilter Holder into position, it is recommended to run a short flow of water through the Br ew Head. • Ensure the Selector Contr ol is in the ‘Standby ’ position and plug the power cord into a 230/240V power outlet and switch on.
STEP 7 - BREWING THE COFFEE • The red ‘Heating ’ light cycles of f when the machine has reached the correct temperature for brewing. • Ensure the Drip T ray and Grid are in place. • Place one or two pre-warmed cups beneath the F ilter Holder outlet.
19 STEAM BUTTON/HO T W A TER BUTTON • The Steam button surr ound will automatically illuminate after the machine has first reached the correct temperature. • The machine will always automatically default to the Steam button when the appliance is first switched on.
21 The 800ES features a separate Hot W ater function that can be used for making tea, hot chocolate and other warm drinks. The hot water is dispensed from the S team W and. T o use the Hot W ater function, remove the F rothing Attachment from the Steam W and.
23 T AMPING THE COFFEE After measuring the ground coffee into the F ilter it must be tamped (pressed down) using the flat end of the measuring spoon. The ground cof fee should be tamped quite firmly . If the coffee is not tamped firmly enough, the water will flow through the water too quickly and the coffee will be under extracted.
CARE AND CLEANING 25 Cleaning CLEANING THE STEAM W AND AND FR O THING A T T ACHMENT • The Steam Wand and F rothing Attachment should always be cleaned after frothing milk. • Remov e the Fr othing Attachment and rinse in warm tap water . Ensure the two fine steam holes on either end of the F rothing Attachment are clear .
27 CARE AND CLEANING 26 CARE AND CLEANING CLEANING THE FIL TERS, FIL TER HOLDER AND BREWING HEAD • The stainless steel F ilters and Filter H older should be rinsed under water directly after use to remov e all coffee particles. Should the fine holes in the filters become blocked, the fine pin on the Cleaning T ool can be used to clear the holes.
