MM70xG2-UM-03 1-1 1 Chapter I NSTALLATION O VERVIEW The MM701G2 and MM70 2G2 are versatile, high-speed mo dems that connect an Ethernet LAN to one or more service providers using G .shdsl transmission tech nology . The connections prov ide inst ant and high-speed broadband access to the Internet or to other types of Wide Area Networks (W ANs).

T o en able SNMP access to the modem, SNMP community str ings need to be configured.

Cli ck Save to write the configur ation to flash memo ry and do not power of f the modem while th e save is in progress. The following dialog ( Figure 5-13 ) is displayed when the save is complete.

MM70xG2-UM-03 6-1 6 Chapter C ONFIGURING DSL P ARAMETERS The DSL p arameters set up the G .shdsl communicati on between the modem and a DSLAM or between two modems used in a point-to-point app li cation. T ypically , the DSL paramete rs for the modem are preset to immediately synchronize with th e service provider (DSLAM application).

Access to the command line interface is accomplished by eit her direct conne ction to the modem c onsole port or through a telnet session (over a network).
