L TPE-UM-3159-02 1-1 1 Chapter O VERVIEW The EMU-830 provides management for HDSL and G .SHDS L circuits using either of the following methods: • One or more shelves of HDSL or G .SHDSL circuits can be managed by co nnecting a management terminal (o r PC with terminal emulation software) to the EMU-830 of one shelf.

L TPE-UM-3159-02 2-1 2 Chapter I NSTALLATION This section describes the proc edu res for insta lling the EMU-830. EMU J UMPER S ETTINGS EMU-830s are jumper configura ble for an RS-232 or RS- 485 SL IP p ort interface. EM Us have an RS-232 factory setting.

The Uplo ad menu provides the mechanism to upload image files to local or remote line units or to local or remote EMUs for system management.

Th ere are two possible shelf alarms, both of which can be classified as Minor , Majo r , Critical, or Disabled: • Power Supply Failure (POWER A or POWER B).

In the SNMP Parameters menu ( Figure 3-6 on page 3-1 1 ), configure the Read-only and Read-W rite Community S tr ing p arameters in accordance with T able 3-6 .

SNMP uses the community string for set and get requests. Trap 1 Validation Select the trap status by toggling between Valid (the default) or Invalid .

This men u is used to specify a terminal setting that displays the best horiz ontal and vertical lines on your monitor .
