2 Plugging in Y our XHub4 Follow the picture to connect your XHub4. Y ou don’t have to power off yo ur computer before connecting the hub. Note: T o ensure that all your USB devices operate properly , Adaptec recommends that yo u always connect your XHub4 to a power source.
3 Installing Device Driver s Follow the instructions provide d for your operating system: Windows XP and Windows 2000 If you are using W indows XP or W indows 2000, you do not need to install any device drivers. Y our XHub4 is ready for use when it’s pr operly connected and yo ur computer is powered on.
4 Plugging in Y our De vices Follow this picture to connec t your USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices to your XHub4. Y ou can use any USB port on the hub. Y ou can buy additional USB cables on the Adaptec W eb site, at www .adaptec.com/b uy-cables . See About USB 2.
5 Daisy-Chaining XHubs If you want to add mor e USB 2.0 ports to y our system, Adaptec XHub4 hubs can be daisy-chained (linked in series). Y ou can connect up to five XHub4 hubs. T o create a daisy-chain: 1 Connect the first XHub4 to your computer and to a power source.
6 T roubleshooting If you have problems using y our XHub4 or USB devices, work through this list of troubleshooting suggestions: ■ Ensure that all cables ar e properly and fully co nnected. ■ Ensure that the XHub4 is connected to a power sour ce, and that the power source is turned on.
