4 Operating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instruc - tions” . • If the appliance is delivered in the winter months when ther e are minus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temperature for 24 hours before using for the first time.

8 Cleaning the machine prior to first use In order to remove any residues fr om the drum and water container which may have been left during manufacturing, perform the first wash cycle without any washing in the machine. Programme: COLOURED COTTONS 60 °C, option EXTRA QUICK, add approx.
9 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/Loading the washing 1. T o open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on, the indicator on the door shows whether the door can be opened: 2. Unfold washing and load it loosely into the ma- chine.
10 Adding detergent / conditioner Important: Only use deter gents/conditioners that are suita ble for use in household washing machines. Add deterg ent/conditioner in accordance with the deter gent/conditioner manuf acturer’ s instructions. Observe instructions on the packaging.
11 Switching on the appli- ance/Setting a pr ogramme Select the programme u sing the programme knob. 3 When you select a programme, you switch the appliance on at the same time. – The programme pr ogress display shows the pr o- gramme steps that the selected pr ogramme will carry out.
12 Selecting the pr ogramme options If desired, press the pr ogramme option bu tton(s). The corresponding indicator light s up. 3 If ” Err ” flashes in the multi-di splay , the pro- gramme option selected cannot be combined with the wash pr ogramme set.
13 Pr ogramme pr ogress • The programme pr ogress display shows the pr o- gramme step that is curr ently being carried out. • The multi-display shows the estimated time re- maining (in hours and minutes) until the end of the programme.
14 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise dir ect ion as far as it will go.
15 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use fur niture cleaning pr oducts or aggressive cleaning agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the c ontrol pa nel and housing with a damp cloth. Detergent drawer The deter gent drawer should be cleaned regularl y .
16 What to do if... Remedying small faults yourself If during use of the appliance one of the following er- ror codes is shown in the multi-display: – E10 (Pro blems with the water inflow), – E20 (Pro blems with the water outflow), – E40 (door open), please consult the following table.
17 E20 appears. End indicator flashes 2x. (Problems with w ater out- flow) Kink in drain hose. Straighten the hose. Maximum pumping height of 1 m ex- ceeded. Please contact the Customer Car e De- partment. Drain pump is blocked. Switch off the a ppliance.

19 Carrying out an emergen- cy drain 1 Wa r n i n g ! Prior to carrying out an emergency drain, switch off the washing machine and r e- move the power plug fr om the power point. Wa r n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emer gency drain hose may be hot.
20 Drain pump The drain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only neces- sary to open the pump cover if ther e is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is block ed. Befor e loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for eign bodies present in t he pock- ets or in between the items to be washed.
21 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be recyc led. The plastic com- ponents are identi fied by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packaging materials in the appr opriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

23 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concer ning installation • Befor e using for the first time, check the appliance for damage sustained while it was being transport- ed. Do not under any circumstance s connect an appliance that is damaged to the mains.
24 Removing the transit pack- aging Important! Be sure to r emove all the components of the transit packaging prior to using the appliance for the first time. Keep the transit packaging in a safe place, in case it is needed at a later date when the appliance is to be moved (e.
25 Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must no t be oper- ated in a room whe re ther e is a danger of fr ost. There is a risk of frost damage or adverse ef fect on the per- fomance of the machine. Frost damage is not cov- ered under the warranty .
26 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install t his appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liability should these safety measur es not be observed.
27 Permanent Connection In the case of a permanent c onnection it is neces- sary that you install a do uble pole switch between the appliance and the electricit y supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch con- tacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the curr ent electrical regula tions.
28 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressure hose is supplied with the ap- pliance. If a longer inlet hose is requir ed, only hoses from the manufacturer ar e to be used.
29 W ater Drainage The appliance drain hose should hook into a stand- pipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plastic “U-Pi ece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see diagram) thus ensuring there is an air break be- tween the drain hose and standpipe.
