5 Chapter 1 Getting to Know the BIPAC 5100S This chapter describes the key feat ures and applications of BIPAC 5100S. 1.1 Introducing the BIP AC 5100S The BIP AC 5100S integrates high-speed 10/ 100Mbps auto-negotiating LAN interface and a high-speed ADSL port into a single package.
6 Using the standard TCP/IP protocol, the BI P AC 5100S and other UPnP enabled devices can dynamically join a network, obtain an IP address and convey its capabilities to other devices on the network.

24 Chapter 4 LAN Setup This chapter describes how to configure LAN settings. 4.1 LAN Overview A Local Area Network (LAN) is a shared communi cation system to which many computers are attached. A LAN is a computer network limit ed to the immediate area, usually the same building or floor of a building.

29 Chapter 5 WAN Setup This chapter describes how to configure WAN settings. 5.1 W AN Overview A W AN (Wide Area Network) is an outside connec tion to another network or the Internet. See the Wizard Setup chapter for more in formation on the fields in the WA N screens.

31 5.5.1 PPP Half Bridge When the PPP Half Bridge is enabled the BIP AC 5100S becomes invisible. The DHCP server will duplicate the W AN IP address from the ISP to the local client PC. Only one PC is able to access the Internet using half bridge mode.

47 Chapter 8 Time and Date Setup Use this screen to configure the BIPAC 5100S’s time and date settings. This chapter is not available on all models. 8.1 Configuring Time Zone T o change your BIP AC 5100S’s time and date, c lick T ime Zone. The scre en appears as shown.
