Read and follow al l instru ctions in this man ual before attempt ing to operat e your lawn mower.
4 • Mow only in daylight or good artificial light. • Stop the blade when cross ing gravel drives, walks or roads. • If the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the engine and check im mediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
5 • Never attempt to make a wheel or c utting height adjustment while the engine is running. • Grass catcher components are subject to wear, damage and deterioration, which could expose moving parts or allow objec ts to be thrown.

8 • The ro pe guide is attached to the righ t side o f upper handle. Loo sen the wing nu t which s ecures the rope guid e. See Figu re 4. • With spark plug wire disco nnecte d and grounded, hold the blad e control handle ag ainst the upp er handle, and pull the star ter rope out of the en gine.
9 • Secure fr ont of bag to fron t frame by working the five plas tic chann els on bottom , sides and top of bag over fram e. See Figu re 7 inset. • Hold the bag and frame so the bag hangs fr om the frame (is no t bunched ar ound the fram e). • Slide th e handle on the gr ass catche r frame down into the slo t in the hardto p cover .
10 Conve rting T o Side Discharge If your unit is equip ped with a side di scharg e chute, yo u can co nvert to a side di scharge mo wer as follo ws: • Lift the r ear discha rge door a nd instal l the mulch ing baffle . See Figure 11. • On the side of th e mower, lift the mulching plu g.
11 Blade Control Handle WARNING: This control mechanism is a safety dev ice. Never attempt to b ypass its operations. The blade contr ol handle is located on the upp er handle of the mower.Th e blade c ontrol handle must be depress ed in order to op erate the uni t.

14 SECTION 7: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER Lubrication (Refer to Lu brication Cha rt in Figure 17.) WARNING: Always stop engine and disconnect spark plug wi re before cleaning, lubricating or doing any kind of work on lawn mower.
15 • Before reassembli ng the bla de and the blad e adapter to th e unit, lubric ate the engine crankshaft and the inn er surfa ce of the bl ade adapter with ligh t oil (or en gine oi l). Also l ubrica te the bolt h oles , bolts and inner surface of the nuts .
