12 En CONNECTION The sub woofer/s ystem contro l has 3 dig ital input jacks (opti cal digit al × 2, coax ial di gital × 1) an d 1 an alog input jack. Before conn ecting yo ur extern al componen ts, check th e outp ut jacks of the com ponents and be sure to use correct connect ion cable s.

14 En CONNECTION The system is equipped with the DOCK terminal, which allows you to connect the Yamaha iPod uni versal dock (such as YDS-10 or YDS-11, sold separat ely) where you can dock your iPod. 16 En BASIC OPERATION Once you h ave finished all cab le connections ( ☞ P . 11 to 15) and remo te control prep aration ( ☞ P. 7), fo llow the proce dure below to start basic play back operat ion. 1 Press STANDBY/ON . This system is turned on and the po wer indic ator lights up.

AIR SURROUND XTREME 19 En English BASIC OPERATION This functio n shifts t he optimum liste ning are a from side to si d e according to yo ur listening positio n for the best Virtual Surround effect. 1 Press POSITION to enter positi on mode. The current positio n appears in the fro nt panel disp lay.
AIR SURROUND XTREME 20 En You can selec t the optim um listenin g area from two modes. Press AREA . Each ti me you pre ss AREA , NORMAL and WIDE modes change alternat ely. NORMAL Select this to sharpen t he sound effe ct. “AREA NORMAL” appe ars in the front panel display when NORMAL mode i s selected.

Press STEREO to enter extended stereo mode. “EXTENDED” appe ars in the front pan el display . Each t ime you pres s STEREO , the func tion is tu rned on (EXTENDED) and off (STEREO) alternately.
22 En OTHER FUNCTIONS You can u se two tun ing mode s to tune i nto the d esired FM sta tion: Frequency tun ing mode You can searc h or specify the freq uency of the desire d FM station aut omatically or man ually. (See “Basic tun ing opera tion” o n page 23.
