7 ◆ Operational range • Keep the remote co ntrol sensor out of direct sunlight or fluorescent lamp light. • Keep the remote control sensor at least 2 m a way from fluorescent lamps.
8 ◆ Setting up y our pr ojector Install the screen perpendicularly to the pr ojector . If the screen can not be installe d in such a way , adjust the projection an gle of the projector as show n below . • Install the screen and projector so that the project or’ s lens is placed at the horizontal position of the screen cent er .
9 ◆ Screen size and projecti on distance Refer to the follo wing diagram to determine the screen size. When the aspect ratio of the scre en is 4: 3, the positional relation between the projec ted image and the screen is as shown on t he right. Refer to the follow ing table for installation.

12 ◆ D VI-D connections Y ou can project high-quality images by c onnecting the D VI terminal of this projector to video equipment ha ving a D VI-D output t erminal. • For connection to the D VI terminal, us e a commercially a vailable D VI-D cable.
13 ◆ Connecting the pr ojector to a computer Preparatio n: • Make sure that the po wer of the projector and that of the computer are turned of f. • When connecting the projector to a desktop computer , disc onnect the RGB cable that is connected to the monitor .
14 ◆ Viewing video images Preparatio n: • T urn on the po wer of the connected video equipment. 1. Confir m the POWER indicator lights u p red. • If the projector was turned off before the lamp was cooled down suff iciently last ti me, the fan may start rota ting and the ST A NDBY/ON button may not work after the po wer cable is plugged.
15 T o stop projecting: 1. Pre ss the ST ANDBY/ON button on the projector or the ST ANDBY ( ) button on the remote control. • A conf irmation message is displayed. • T o cancel the procedure, wait a while or press the MEN U button. 2. Pre ss the ST ANDBY/ON button on the projector or the ST ANDBY ( ) button on the remote control again.
16 Setting the aspect ratio Y ou can change the aspect ratio of the input video signal (or the ratio of width to he ight of the image). Change the setting ac cording to the type of the input video signal. Bold frames are recommended modes. Changing the settings With the remote co ntrol: 1.

SIGNAL Menu • Horizontal strips may appear on the enlarged projected image; this is not a malfunction. • When you change the horizontal or vertical position to a lar ge extent, noise may appear . • The adjustable range of the v ertical posi tion v aries depending on the type of the input signal.
24 ◆ Adjusting brightness (C ONTRAST and BRIGHTNESS) Y ou can make adjustments for the brightness of the projected image using the menu (see page 21). 1. Displ a y the IMAGE menu. 2. Select CONTRAST or BRIGHTNESS by press ing the or button. 3. Adjust the selected item by pressing the or button.

Select SA TURA TION or HUE by pressing the or button. • SA TURA T ION is unav ailable when the D-SUB source is an RGB signal or D VI is sele cted as the input source.
26 This projector automatically and properly pr ojects video signa ls supplied from the computer . Ho we ver , some video signals may no t be projected, depending on the type of the computer . In such a ca se, press the A UTO POSITION b utton on the projector or the A UTO b utton on the remote control (see page 18).
27 ◆ Viewing ceiling mounted pr ojector images T o vie w images projected b y the ceiling mounted pr ojector fr om the fr ont: When the projector is installe d on the ceiling, the special ceiling mount bracke t, which is commercially a v ailable, is required .
28 This projector is equipped with a lamp to proje ct images. This lamp is a cons umable, so it may b urn out or its brightness may d ecrease during use. If this happens, replace the lamp with a new one as soon as possible. B e sure to replace the lamp with a ne w , commercially a v ailable lamp that is e xclusi ve to this projector .
29 ◆ Replacing the lamp 1. Carefull y turn th e projector upside-down (a). 2. Loo sen the screw (b) using a Phillips screwdriver (+), and remov e the lamp co ver (c) . 3. Loo sen the lamp screws (d) using a Phillips screwdriver (+). 4. Pull up the handle (e).

31 ◆ T roub leshooting Refer to the ch art belo w when this p rojec tor does not function proper ly . If the problem you are experiencing is not listed belo w or if the instructions do not help, stop using th e projector and contact your dealer . No image appear s on the screen.
32 Images are not dis play ed correc tly . “NO SIGN AL” is displayed. • T urn on the power of the connected de vice, or check whethe r there is something wrong with the connect ed device. • Check whether the external de vice outputs signals. (Check this especia lly when the e xternal de vice is a notebook computer .
33 Other s If the f ollo wing pr oble m occurs aft er the lamp is repl aced, chec k the follo wing fir st. Problem Solu tion The exhaust v ents emit warm air . • This air comes out after cooling the inside of the projector . It may fe el hot, but this is not a malfunction.
