Step-by-step procedu res for using the sof tware are provided in each of th e network installation chapters.
2-6 Network Softwa re Selecti ng a Printe r The first step when using Printer Admin Services is to select a printer . Depending up on your networ k type, click ei ther TCP/I P or NetW are to display a lis t of printers on the network . If the printer has not yet been confi gur ed, th e default printer name will appear in the lis t.

The printer name appears in the P rinter Nam e field and the Setting s , Configuratio n , and Reports butto ns are now active. The program is ready to config ure th e printer connectivity settin gs, view the printer configur atio n information, and print reports.
2-8 Network Softwa re Configur ing Printer Connecti vity Setti ngs Click Settings on the ma in win dow to display the printer connectivit y settings tabs. The Network t ab is used to modi fy printer network sett ings su ch as Network T ype, Frame T ype, and Connection T ype.

Like Printer Admin Services, Internet Services enables yo u to access and modify p rinter connectivity se ttin gs and print reports.

2-18 Network Software Network Printer Drivers Network printer drivers and PP Ds for the printer are included on the Xe rox Document Centre ColorSeries 50 Network S oftware CD-ROM. The printer drivers and PPDs are installed on the user workstatio ns to enable print ing from the network.

1-2 Network Printer Features Printer Models and Features The printer is available either as a digital copier/printer (ST) o r as a stand- alone printer (LP). The dif ferent m odels are easily iden tifiable as the ST model is equipped with a documen t scanner while the LP model is not.

1-4 Network Printer Features Network Installation Overview The installation of the pr inter on a network is accomplished using a combinatio n o f the Control Panel, n ative network utilit ies, one of the Xerox network s oftware program s, and a Xerox printer driv er .
Netwo rk Conn ectiv ity 1-5 Network Connectivity Network connectio n ports are located on the printer controller on the low er rear of the printer . The printer is equipped wi th standard AUI and RJ-45 Ethernet connections and a parallel port to support external prin t server connection s.
1-6 Network Printer Features RJ-45 Co nne c ti on The print er has one RJ-4 5 T ype 3 connector s upporting an unshielded t wisted pair cable. AUI Co nn e c ti on The print er has one AUI connection .
Netwo rk Conn ectiv ity 1-7 T oke n Ri ng Con nec tion The pr inter can be equipp ed wit h an optiona l T ok en Ring c onnec tio n. Paralle l Port Co nnectio n The printer is equipped with one parallel port to suppo r t uni-directio nal printing via an external print server.
1-8 Network Printer Features Printer Control Panel Some of the prin ter network connectivity settings may be accessed and modified using th e Control P anel button s and the to uch screen. Use the following procedur e to access the printer network connectivity settings at the Control Panel.

Refer to the Novell d ocumentation, if needed. 2 Make certain that your printer is properly connected to the network with the appropr iat e cabl i ng.

If you enable DHCP , be sure to save the new Co nfiguration Report that wi ll print approximat ely 5 minutes after you power of f and power on the copier/ printer (in St ep 12 below), since the IP Address may h av e changed.

Step 2. Custom ize Printer Connec tivity Settings 6-11 5 If the IP Address Reso lution is Stat ic , make sure that the IP Address , Host Nam e , Subnet Ma sk , and Gateway Address ar e set to the correct values. If the IP Add ress Resolution is DHCP , these fields will be read- only .

The Document C entre ColorSeries 50 LP/ST Adobe P os tScrip t printer drivers are multiple- environment drivers d esigned to enable printing from a wo rkstation on a network to a Document C entre ColorSeries 50.
