15 Positioning your projector English Installation for a 4:3 ratio screen The illustrations and table belo w are pr ovided for those users who alr eady hav e 4:3 aspect ratio screens or intend to purc hase 4:3 aspect ratio screens to view 16:9 ratio pr ojected images.
16 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting w ith v ideo equipment Y ou can connect the project or to any type of v ideo equipment, such as a V CR, DVD playe r , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , v ideo game console or dig ital camera.
17 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting HDMI devices Y ou should use an HDMI cable when making co nnection between the pr ojector and HDMI devices. Y ou should also connect the separate audio cable to a suitable audio amplifier . Connecting R GBHV dev ices U se a RGBHV video cable with 5 BNC male connectors for conn ection.
18 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting S-V ideo or v ideo dev ices Y ou need only connect S-V ideo or c omposite V ideo cable fr om the same dev ice, never both at the same time. Y ou should also connect the separate audi o cable to a suitable audio am plifier .
19 Using the projector English U sing the projector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not alread y in, plug the supplied power cable int o the AC in let on the rear of the pr ojector and turn on the power switch.
20 Using the projector English U sing th e menus The projector is equipped with multilingual On-Scree n Display (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the ov er view of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, please set the OSD men u to your familiar l anguage first.
21 Using the projector English Securing the projector U sing a secur it y cable lock The project or has to be installed in a safe place to pr event st ealing. If not, pur chase a lock, lik e K ensington loc k, to secure the projector . Y ou can locate a Ke nsington lock slot on the rear side of the proj ector .
22 Using the projector English Entering the password r ecall procedure 1. Pr ess and hold PRESET MODE on the projector or PRESET on the remote c ontrol for 3 seconds. The pr ojector wil l display a c oded number on the screen. 2. W rite down the number and turn off your pr ojector .
23 Using the projector English Ad j u s t i n g t he pr o j e c t e d i ma ge A djusting the projection angle There are f our adjuster feet on the bottom of the pr ojector . These can be used if necessary to change the projection angle. Screw the feet in or out as appropriate to aim and level the projection angle.
24 Using the projector English U sing the preset and user modes Selecting a preset mode The projector is pr eset w ith several pre-defined picture modes so that you can choose one to suit y our operating envir onment and input sourc e picture ty pe. T o se lect a picture mode that suits y our need: • U sing the remote control 1.
25 Using the projector English Setting the U ser 1/User 2/U ser 3 mode There are thr ee user-definable modes if the current availa ble pictur e modes are not suitable for your need. Y ou can use one of the picture modes (ex cept the selected U s er mode) a s a starting point and cust omize the settings .
26 Using the projector English Fine-tuning the picture quality No matter what picture mode you ha ve selected, you are ab le to fine-tune those settings to fit every presentation purpose. Those adjustments will be sav ed to the preset mode you ar e at when you exit the OSD menu.

Highlight Co lor T emperature and select User 1 , Use r 2 , or U ser 3 by pressing / on the projector or r emote control . 2. 29 Using the projector English Ad justing Bril liant Color This feature utilizes a new color -pr ocessing algorithm and system level enhancemen ts to enable higher brightness while pro viding truer , more vibrant colors in pictur e. When set t o " Off ", Brilliant Color is disabled.
30 Using the projector English Selectin g the as pect ratio The "aspect ratio" is the ratio of the image w idth to the image height. Digital TV is usually in 16:9 ratio, which is the default for this projector , and most analog TV sig nals and DVDs are in 4:3 ratio .
31 Using the projector English 5. Rea l : This setting displays the image in a one-t o-one pixel mapping without al teration or resize in the centre of the projection. This is mo st suitable for use with PC and R GBHD sourc e inputs. The black portions are inactive areas and the white portions are acti ve areas.
32 Using the projector English Displaying more than one image sour ce sim ultaneously Y our projector is capable of displ aying pictures simult aneously fr om two input sourc es, which can be used t o enhance y our presentation in an inte resting way .
33 Using the projector English Cr eating your o wn star tup screen In addition to selecting the projector pre set star tup sc reen from among BenQ log o or Blue screen, yo u can make your own startup screen that is a picture projected fr om your compute r or v ideo source.
34 Using the projector English Tu r n i n g t h e p o w e r o f f T o tur n the projector o ff, press POWER ( ) on the projector or remote control and a warning message appears. Press POWE R again. • The P ower indicat or ligh t flashes orange and the fans run for about two min utes to c ool the lamp .

The only thing y ou have to do on a regular basis is keep the lens clean and clean or r eplace the air filt er . N ever r emove an y part s of the projecto r exc ept the lamp or the air filter .
42 Additional information English T o clean the filter 1. Shut do wn the projector if turned on and wait until the fans stop running. 2. Release the bottom edge of the filter co ver (right side of projector) b y gently pulling the tabs on the lower ends of the panel (as illustr ated).
43 Additional information English Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour Whe n the projector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp usage is automatically calculated b y the built-in timer .
