12 Positioning your projector English P ositioning y our pr ojector Choosing a location Y our pr ojector is designed to be installed in one of four possible installation locations. Y our r oom lay out or personal pref erence will di ctate which installation location y ou select.
13 Positioning your projector English Obtaining a pr efer r ed pr ojected imag e siz e The distance fr om the projector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the pr ojected image size. This projector is equipped with a mo vable lens.

15 Positioning your projector English Shifting the projection lens The lens shift contr ol pro vides flexibility for installi ng y our projector . It allo ws the projector to be positioned off t he center of the screen. The lens shift is expressed as a per centage of the pr ojected image height or width.
16 Connecting to video equipment English Connecting to video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to any type of video equipment, such as a D VD or Blu-ray pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , video game consol e or digital camera.
17 Connecting to video equipment English Connecting component-video de vices Be sure to match the corr esponding colors betw een the cables and the terminals. The BNC type component video jacks are pr ovided for connection to video output devices. The audio connections are pro vided for informational purposes only .
18 Connecting to video equipment English Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connected to a projector . Usually a k ey combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/ LCD k ey turns the external displa y on/o ff.
19 Connecting to video equipment English Connecting multiple sour ces thr ough HDBaseT HDBaseT is a connectivity standar d that combines HD digital video , audio, Ethern et, powe r ov er cable, and various control signals. These signals ar e transmitted wi th one CA T5e (o r abo ve) cable up to 100 m eters in length.
20 Using the projector English Using the pr ojector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not already in, plug the supplied po wer cable into the A C inlet on the rear of the projector . 3. Plug the pow er cable into a wall po wer outlet and turn the wall switch on.
21 Using the projector English Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be conn ected to multiple equipment at the same time. When the projector is f irst turned on, it will attempt to reconnect with the input source wh ich was in use when the pr ojector was last shut down.
22 Using the projector English Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. The OSD scr eenshots below ar e for re ference onl y , and ma y differ from the actu al design.
23 Using the projector English Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The pr ojector has to be installed in a safe place to prev ent theft. Otherwise , pur chase a lock, such as the K ensingto n lock, to secure the pr ojector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the projector .
24 Using the projector English If y ou forget the pass wor d If the passwor d function is activa ted, you will be asked to enter the six-d igit passwor d every time you turn on the pr ojector . If you enter the wr ong passwor d, the passwo rd err or message is displa yed lasting for thr ee seconds, and the Input Password page f o llows.
25 Using the projector English Changing the passw ord 1. In the System Setup: Advanced > Security Settings menu, pr ess / to highlight Change Pa ss wor d and press ENTER . The Change P asswor d page is displa yed. 2. Enter the old passwor d . • If the passw ord is corr ect, the message " Input New P asswor d " is displa yed.
26 Using the projector English Adjusting the pr ojected ima ge Adjusting the pr ojection angle There ar e four adjuster feet on the bott om of the projector . These can be used if necessary to change the projection angle. Scr ew the feet in or out as appr opriate to aim and lev el the pr ojection angle .
27 Using the projector English Corr ecting pictur e distor tion K eystoning occurs when the projector is not perpen dicular to the screen and is wher e the projected picture dis plays vi sible as a trapezoid shape lik e either of the follo wing: • T wo parallel sides (l eft and right, or top and bottom) but is noticeably wider on eit her side .
28 Using the projector English Using the pr eset and user modes Selecting a pr eset mode The pr ojector is preset with sev eral pre-defined pictur e modes so that you can choose one to suit y our operating envir onment and input so ur ce picture type.
29 Using the projector English Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There ar e two user -definable modes if the curr ent avai lable pic tur e modes are not suitable for your need . Y ou can use one of the picture mode s (except the selected User mode) as a starting point and customize the settings.
30 Using the projector English Fine-tuning the pictur e quality No matter what picture mode y ou ha v e selected, you are able to f ine-tune those settings to fit every presentation purpose. Those adjustments will be sa ved to the pr eset mode you are at when y ou exit the OSD menu.
31 Using the projector English Advanced pictur e quality contr ols There ar e more advanced functi ons in the Picture > Advanced... menu to be adjusted to y our pref erence.
32 Using the projector English Setting a pref erred color temperatur e T o set a prefer red color temperature: 1. Highlight Col or T emperature and select Cool , Normal , Wa r m or Lamp Nativ e b y pressing / on the projector or r emote control. 2. Press to highlight Color T emperature Fine T uning and press ENTER .
33 Using the projector English The 3D Color Mana gement prov ides six sets (RG BCMY) of colors to be adjusted to fav orite colors. When you select each color , you can independentl y a djust its color ran ge and saturation according to your pr eference.
34 Using the projector English Selecting the aspect ratio The "aspect ratio" is the r atio of the image width to the image height. The de fa ult for this pr ojector is 16:10 while digital TV is usually in 16:9 ratio , and mos t analog TV signals and D VDs are in 4: 3 ratio.
35 Using the projector English Setting a wall color In the situation wher e you ar e projecting onto a colo red surface such as a pain ted wall which ma y not be white, the W all Color featur e can help corr ect the pr o jected pictur e’ s color to prev en t possible color differ ence between the sour ce and projected pictures .
36 Using the projector English Adjusting the sound The sound adjustments made (such as functions show n below) will ha ve an effect on the pr ojector speak er(s). Be sure you ha ve made a corr ect connection to the projector audio input. See "Connecting to video equipment" on page 16 for ho w the audio input is connected.

42 Using the projector English Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend that yo u activate High Altitude when your envir onment is higher than 15 00 meters (around 4920 feet) above sea le vel, or whenev er the proj ector will be used for extended periods of time (>10 hours) without shutdown.

Press PO WER / OFF ( ) again. • The Po wer indicator light flashes orange and the fans run for about two mi nutes to cool the lamp .
