Positioning your project or 13 P ositioning your pr ojector Choosing a location Y our projector is desi gned to be in stalled i n one of four possible installation locations: Y our room lay out or personal preferenc e will dictate which installation location you select.
Positioning your project or 14 O btaining a preferr ed projected image size The distanc e from the pr ojector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factor s in the projected imag e size. For example, if you are using a 120-inch screen, the r ecommended projection dista nce is 2422 mm and the ve r tical offset is 91 mm.
Connection 15 Connection When connecting a signa l source to the projector , be sure to: 1. T urn all equipmen t off before making an y connectio ns. 2.
Connection 16 • Many notebooks do not turn on their external video ports when connected to a projector. Usually a key combo li ke FN + F3 or CRT/LCD key turns the external display on/off. Locate a function key labeled CRT/LCD or a function key with a mo nitor symbol on the notebook.
Operation 17 Operation Star ting up the projecto r 1. Plug the po wer cor d into the pr ojector and into a power outlet. T urn on th e power outlet s witch (where fitted) . Check that the PO WER indic ator light on the projector lights orange after pow er has been applied.
Operat ion 18 A djusting the projected image A djusting the pr ojection ang le The projector is equipp ed with 1 quick- release adjuster foot and 1 rear adjuster foot. Thes e adjusters change t he image height and proj ection an g le. T o adju st the project or: 1.
Operation 19 Correcting k e ystone K eystoning r efers to the situ ation where the project ed image is noticeably w ider at either th e top or bottom. It occurs when the projector is not p erpend icular to the screen. T o co rrect this, y ou will need to man ually corr ect it follo wing ONE of these steps.
Operat ion 20 Us i n g t h e m e n u s The pr ojector is equ ipped with On-Screen Disp lay (OSD) men us for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the overview of the OSD menu. The following example descr ibes how to set the OSD language. 1.
Operation 21 Securing the projecto r U sing a securit y cable lock The pr ojector has t o be installed in a s afe place t o preven t theft. Otherwise, purc hase a lock, such as the K ensin gton lock, to sec ure the proje ctor . Y ou can lo cate a Kensington lock slot on the rear side of the projector .
Operat ion 22 If y ou forget the passwor d If the password functio n is activated, you will be asked to ent er the six-digit password every time you turn on the projector . If you enter the wrong password, the password e rror message as pictured to the right displays lasting for 3 seconds, and the INPUT P ASSW ORD message follows.
Operation 23 Changing the password 1. Open the OSD menu and go to the SYSTEM SETU P: Advanced > Security Settings > Change Password menu. 2. Press MODE/ENTER . The message “INPUT CURRENT P ASSW ORD” appears. 3. Enter the old p assword. i. I f the password is correct, another message “INPUT NEW P A SSW ORD” displa ys.
Operat ion 24 S w itching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple devices at the same time. However , it can only display one full screen at a time.
Operation 25 Magnifyi ng and searching for details If y ou need to fin d the details on the projected pict ure, magnify the pi cture. U se the directio n arrow k eys for navigating the picture. • U si ng th e re mote con tro l 1. Press Digital Zoom +/- to display the Zoom bar .
Operat ion 26 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inactive areas and the white porti ons are active areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Auto : Scales an image pr oport ionally to fi t the projector's native resolution in its horizontal or v er tical width.
Operation 27 Optimizing the i mage Us i n g W a l l C o l o r In the situation where you ar e projecting onto a colored surface such as a painted wall which may not be whit e, the W all Color featur e can help correct the pr ojected pictur e’ s colors to prev ent possible color differenc e between the sour ce and pr ojected picture s.

Operation 29 3D Color Management In most installatio n situations, color mana gement will not be necessary , such as in classroom, meeting room, or lounge room situations where ligh ts remain on, or where building exte rnal w indo ws allow daylight int o the room.

Operat ion 32 Locking contr ol keys With the control keys on the projector locked, you can prevent your projector settings from being cha nged accidentally (by chi ldren, for example). When the Panel Key Lo ck is on, no contr ol keys on th e project or will operate ex cept POWER .

Operation 39 Displaying images through Q Pr esenter Downloading and installing Q Pr esenter Q Pr esenter is an application ru nning o n the host PC. It helps c onnect your c omputer t o an available netw ork projector and transfer the deskt op contents to the network projector via local network connection.

The Sp ecial Feature page provides some advanced fun ctions to manage the projected images. • T o display a full screen, click F ull Screen. • T o display a part ial screen, click Se lectable. A square appears on y our screen. Y ou can adju st its siz e and place it where y ou want to project.

Operat ion 42 Pr esentin g from a USB R eader This feature displays a slide show of images stored on a USB flash drive connected to the project or . It can eliminate the need for a compu ter sourc e. Supported image formats: • A square box will display on the filename for unidentified characters.

Maintenance 54 Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour Whe n the project or is in opera tion, the duration (in h ours) of lamp usage is automaticall y calculated by the built-in timer . See "Setting Lamp Mode as Economic" below for more information on Economic mode.
Maintenance 55 T iming of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to re place the lamp , please install a new lamp o r consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in th e project or and in some instan ces the lamp ma y explode.
Maintenance 56 R eplacing the lamp • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, always turn the proje ctor off and disconnect the power cord before changing the lamp. • T o reduce the risk of severe burns, allow the pr ojector to cool for at least 45 minutes before replacing the lamp.
