Introduction 12 Remote contr ol effective range The remote control m ust be held at an angle within 30 degr ees perpendicular to the projector's IR r emote control sensor(s) to function corre ctly . The distance between the remote contr ol and the sensor(s) should not exceed 8 meters (~ 26 feet).

Operation 17 Operation Star ting up the pr ojector 1. Plug the power cord into the pr ojector and into a powe r outlet. T urn on the power outlet switch (where fitted). Check that the PO WER in dicator light on t he projector lights orange after power has been applied.
Operat ion 18 Adjusting the pr ojected image Adjusting the pr ojection angle The projector is equipp ed with 1 adjuster foot. It changes the image heigh t and pr ojection angle . T o adjust the projector , screw the adjuster f oot to fine- tune the horizontal angle.
Operation 19 Corr ecting k eystone K eystoning ref ers to the situation w here the projected imag e is noticeabl y wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the pr o j ector is not perpendicular to the screen. T o corr ect this, you will need to manually corr ect it following ONE of these steps.
Operat ion 20 Using the menus The projector is equipp ed with On-Scr een Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. The OSD screenshots below are f or refe rence on l y , and may differ fr om the actual design. Below is the ov erview of the OSD menu.
Operation 21 Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The projector has to be installed in a safe pl ace to prev ent theft. Otherwise , purchase a lock, such as the K e nsington lock, to secur e the pr ojector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the rear side of the pr ojector .
Operat ion 22 manual, and you absolutely do not r emember it, you can use the password r ecall procedur e . See "Entering the passw ord recall pr ocedure" on page 22 f or details. If you enter an incorr ect pa ssw o rd 5 times in succession, the projector will automatically shut down in a short time.

Operat ion 24 Magnifying and sear ching for details If you need to find th e details on the projected pictur e , magnify the pictur e. Use the direction ar row k eys for na vigating the picture. • Using the remote control 1. Press Digital Zoom+/- to display the Zoom bar .
Operation 25 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inac tive ar eas and the white por tions are activ e areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Auto : Scales an image proportionally to fit the projector's nativ e resolution in its horizontal or vert ical width.
Operat ion 26 Optimizing the image Using W all Color In the situation wher e you ar e pr ojecting on to a colored surface such as a painted w all which ma y not be white, the W all Color feature can help cor rect the pr ojected picture’ s colors to pre vent possible color difference betw een the sour ce and pr ojected pictures.

Operation 29 Please ref er to the illustration to the right for how the colors relate to each other . For example, if you select Red and set its range at 0, only pur e red in the projected picture will be selected. Incr easing its range will include red close to yellow and r ed close to magenta.

Operation 31 Hiding the image In order to dra w the audience's full attention to the pr esenter , you can use ECO BLANK on the projector or r emote control to hide the screen image. When this function is activated with an audio input connected, the audio can still be heard.
Operat ion 32 symptoms. How ever , this is not to state that th is proj ector can operate under an y and all harsh or extreme conditions. Adjusting the sound The sound adjustments made as below will ha ve an effect on the projector speak er(s). Be sure y ou hav e made a correct connect ion to the pr ojector audio input.
Operation 33 Using the teaching templates The pr ojector provides sev eral preset patterns for various teaching purposes . T o activate the pattern: 1. Open the OSD menu and go to the DISPLAY > Teaching Template and press / to select Blackboard or Whiteboa rd .

Operation 37 Note that the menu items ar e available when th e projector detects at least one valid signal. If there is no equipment connected to the pr ojector or no signal detected, limited menu items are accessible.

Operation 39 Function Description 3D This projector f eatures a 3D function which enables y ou to enjoy the 3D movies, videos, and sporting events in a more r eal istic wa y by presentin g the depth of the images. Y ou need to wear a pair of 3D glasses to vi ew the 3D images.

Operation 41 Function Description Presentation Timer Reminds the presenter to finis h the pres entation within a certain time frame. See "Setting the presentation timer" on page 29 for details. Language Sets the language for the On-Sc reen Displa y (OSD) menus.

Maintenance 45 Maintenance Car e of the projector Y our projector needs little maintenance. The on ly thing y ou need to do on a r egular basis is to keep th e lens and case clean. Ne ver rem ove a ny pa r ts o f t he p roj ec to r . Contact your dealer if other parts need rep l ac in g.
Maintenance 46 Lamp information Getting to know the lamp hour When the projector is in operation, the durati on (in hours) of lamp usage is automatically calculated by the built-in timer . T otal (equivalent) lamp hour = 2.5 x (hours used in Normal mode) + 1.
Maintenance 47 Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicat or lights up r ed or a message appears suggesting i t is time to replace the lamp , please cons ult your dealer or go to http://www .BenQ.com before installing a new lamp . An old lamp may cause a malfunction in the pr ojector and in so me instances the lamp ma y explode .
Maintenance 48 Replacing the lamp (FOR SER VICE PERSONNEL ONL Y) • T o r educe the risk of electrical shoc k, alwa ys turn the projector off and disconnect the po wer cord bef ore changing the lamp . • T o reduce the risk of sev e re burns, allow the pr ojector to cool for at least 45 minutes before r eplacing the lamp.
Maintenance 49 5. Disconnect the lamp connector from the projector as illustrated. 6. Loosen the screw that secur es the lamp. 7. Lift the handle so that it stands up. 8. Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector . • Pulling it too quickly ma y cause the lamp to break and scatter brok en glass in the projector .
