6 COOKTOP USE Cooktop C ontrols The control knobs can be set to anywhere betw een HI and LO. Push in a nd turn to setting . On some models, the surface cook ing area locator shows which element is turned on . Use the following chart as a guide when settin g heat levels .
7 Lift-up C ooktop (o n some mod els) The lift- up cooktop provides e asy acces s for cl eaning be neath. Do not drop the cooktop. Da mage could occur to the fi nish and the cooktop frame. For more information, see t he “ General Cleani ng ” sect ion.
8 OVEN USE Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is u sed the first few times, or when it is heavi ly soiled . IMPORT AN T : The health of some birds is extremely sensi tive to the f umes given off. Expo sur e to t he fume s may r esult in death to certain birds.
9 Bakewa re The bakeware mat erial affects cooking r esults. Follow manufact urer ’ s recommendations and use the b akeware size recommended in the recipe. Use the following ch art as a guide. Meat Ther mo met er On models without a temperature probe, use a meat thermometer to determine donenes s of meat, poultry and fis h.
10 Broil ing Broiling uses dir ect radiant heat to cook food. Changing the temperature when broili ng allows more precise control. The lower the tempera ture, the slower the cooking. Thi cker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish and pou ltry may cook better at low er broiling temperatures.
