13 CHECK THA T THE BURNER V AL VE IS OFF V alve is shipped in the OFF position, but you should check to be sure that it is turned OFF . Check by pushing down and turning clockwise. If it does not turn, it is off. Proceed to the next step. If it does turn continue turning it clockwise until it stops, then it is off.
14 GAS INSTRUC TIONS CHECK F OR GAS LEAKS (1) (5) (2) (3) (4) DANGER Do not use an open fl ame to check for gas leaks. Be sure there are no sparks or open fl ames in the area while you check for leaks. Sparks or open fl ames will result in a fi re or explosion which can cause serious bodily injury or death and damage to property .
15 GAS INSTRUC TIONS Check: 1) Bulkhead fi tting-to-Regulator connection. W ARNING: If there is a leak at connections (1), turn OFF the gas. DO NOT OPERA TE THE FIREPLACE. Contact the Customer Service Representative in your area using the contact information on our web site.

MANU AL LIGHTING DANGER Failure to remove rain shields while igniting the fi replace’ s burners, or not waiting 5 minutes to allow the gas to clear if the fi replace does not light, may result in an explosive fl ame-up which can cause serious bodily injury or death.
18 TROUBLESHOO TING PROBLEM CHECK CURE Burner burns with a dark orange fl ame, in conjunction with heavy soot- ing. Inspect Spider / Insect Screen for pos- sible obstructions. (Blockage of holes.) Clean Spider / Insect Screen. (See Section “Annual Maintenance”) Burner does not light, or fl ame is low in HIGH position.
19 MAINTENANCE WEBER ® SPIDER / INSEC T SCREEN Y our Weber ® gas fi replace, as well as any outdoor gas appliance, is a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section (1) of the burner tube. This blocks the normal gas fl ow , and can cause the gas to fl ow back out of the air shutter .
20 MAINTENANCE MAIN BURNER FLAME P A TTERN The Weber ® gas fi replace burner has been factory set for the correct air and gas mixture. A correct fl ame pattern is: • A yellow to light-orange fl .
