STB Admin Guide v Preface VBrick's EthernetTV -STB Set T op Bo x is a lead ing-edg e digital set top box that pro vides a low-cost standalone deco der for high-qualit y MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 video assets. It's an ideal MPEG decoder for cost-sensiti v e installations that require large-scale deployment.

There are three ways to open a Command Promp t interface on the STB .
Installation STB Admin Guide 3 Using pman pman is an text-based co nfiguration prog ram that r uns from the Unix shell on the set top box. Its functionality mirrors the web-b ased configuration tool and you can use pman to set or edit all STB configuration parameters.

STB Admin Guide 37 Chapter 5 Serial P or t P assthrough Ov er view Using serial por t passthrough, STBs can provide full duplex, end-to-end transparent passthrough of u ser data from an STB to a VBric k, or to other netw orked devices . The STB has one serial por t that ca n be used for passthrough.

As described below , the buttons on the remote control only w ork if the STB is configured for MCS or Local mode .
