4 GETTING STARTED USING THIS MANUAL This manual is set up in six main sections: • Getting Started. This section describes your hardware and how to physically set it up. • Uniden Guardian™ Software Operations Overview. This section lists basic operations in an abbreviated format.
5 WHAT’S INCLUDED You should have the following items: G4 or G7 Monitor and Cradle GC45 Camera (2) Stand (2) AC Adapter (3) Antenna (2) Not Shown: Mounting screws, Ethernet cable, 2 extension cords, and microSD Card. If any items are missing or damaged, contact our Customer Care Line immediately.

7 WHAT THE LIGHTS MEAN Power status On (Red) The camera is on. Off The camera is off. Link status Flashing The camera is in pairing mode. On (Green) The camera is connected to the monitor.
8 Although the cameras can be exposed directly to the rain, it is recommended that, if they are used outdoors, they be mounted under some type of cover like a patio overhang or eave.
9 ATTACH THE CAMERA 1. For each camera, attach the camera bracket to the mounting screw. You can attach the stand to the top or the bottom of the camera as needed. Tighten it a few turns, then turn the camera to face the direction you want. 2. Tighten the camera brace up against the camera to secure it into place.

11 UNIDEN GUARDIAN SOFTWARE OPERATION OVERVIEW Your monitor’s Uniden Guardian software operates through a series of screens that let you choose groups of operations.
12 WHAT THE ICONS MEAN Select how you want the Live screen to display camera input: • Scan between cameras (5 seconds) • Quad view (all paired cameras display) • Full view (1 camera displays on full screen) Adjust the volume level.
13 Appears in LIVE view. Indicates system is not connected to the internet. Appears in LIVE view. Indicates the intranet connection is established. Displays the camera number and signal strength through the status lines to the left of the number.
14 CHANGING HOW THE LIVE SCREEN DISPLAYS The Live screen displays in 2 views - Quad View or Full View. Quad View divides the screen’s image area into 4 quadrants and displays camera video in each quadrant. If less than 4 cameras are on, only those cameras’ video will display on the Live screen.
15 USING YOUR SYSTEM RECORDING LIVE VIDEO 1. On the Live screen, tap for the camera to begin recording. 2. Tap it again to stop recording. You can record from all cameras at the same time.
16 DELETING RECORDED FILES You can delete a single recorded file or a folder containing all recorded files for a specific day. 1. On the Recor d List screen (see previous Record List screen), tap the day with recorded files you want to delete. The list of recorded files displays.
17 TROUBLESHOOTING CAMERA PAIRING Consult the following table for camera pairing troubleshooting suggestions: the camera’s signal status icon shows no bars • making sure the camera is plugged in and the red LED is on.
18 UNIDEN GUARDIAN SCREEN DESCRIPTIONS OVERVIEW This section describes the Uniden Guardian screens in detail. It provides a path to the screen being viewed.
19 Network Setup Internet Setup Select the type of internet connection to be used. (DHCP is most common.) Security Code Set a security code for remote access.
20 CAMERA SETUP SCREEN PAIRING Your cameras are paired to the monitor at the factory to channels 1 and 2. When you add a new camera to your system, you have to “introduce” the camera and monitor to each other so they can communicate .
21 CAMERA ON When you add a camera to your system, pair up the camera with the monitor and the system will automatically turn it on. An X indicates a camera that is turned off; a check mark indicates the camera is turned on.
22 BRIGHTNESS F rom the pop-up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : Tap the camera whose brightness level you want to change. The default brightness is 0, and the range is from -2 through 2.
23 1. Each camera’s motion detection sensitivity can be set independently. You can set the motion detection level to Off, Low, or High. Tap on the camera to cycle through these choices. 2. Tap to return to the main Motio n Dete ction screen. The Motion Detection default setting for the cameras included in this system is to Low.
24 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Tap Enabl e to activate Email Alert or Disab le to deactivate it. 2. Tap on the SMTP Server field. A gmail notice displays with the port information; tap OK.
25 5. Repeat Step 3 for the Email To field. Only one incoming email account will be accepted by the Uniden Guardian system. The incoming email account can be different from the outgoing email account. 6. Tap OK to save the settings, then tap < to return to the previous screen.
26 1. Tap the camera number you want to record (1 - 4). You can select up to all 4 cameras to record. 2. Set the recording start time. Tap the hour and number boxes separately and use the UP and DOWN arrows to scroll through the times. 3. Tap the AM/PM block to toggle between them.
27 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : INTERNET SETUP 1. Tap Internet Setup icon to display the Inter net Se tup screen. 2. Tap on your selection and fill in the fields requested.
28 2. If you have not entered a security code, you can enter it here. If you have previously entered a security code, your current security code displays. The default security code is set to 123456. We recommend that you change this code to something you will remember.
29 You must enter a security code to monitor your video from a PC or other device. 5. Tap OK on the system reboot prompt. The Netwo rk Set up screen displays. 6. Turn your Uniden Guardian monitor off then back on for the security code change to take effect.
30 ALARM SETUP SCREEN From the Alarm Setup screen, you can: • Set the length of time the alarm sounds. • Select a melody for the alarm. PERIOD SCREEN This selection allows you to select the length of time the alarm will sound for the alarm clock. 1.
31 2. Tap the duration you want the siren to last (2, 10, or 30 seconds) or tap None to turn sirens off. 3. Tap to return to the previous screen. MELODY This selection allows you to select a melody for the siren. 1. Tap Melody. The Chang e Sire n Melo dy screen displays.
32 SYSTEM SETUP SCREEN POWER SAVING When you turn on Power Saving mode, the monitor goes into sleep mode (LCD turns off) after it is idle for 2 minutes. Press the POWER button once to reactivate the monitor (Default = Disable). If a motion detection event or scheduled recording begins, the LCD turns back on.
33 SCREEN AUTO LOCK When you turn on Auto Lock mode, the monitor will automatically enter screen lock mode after it has been idle for 2 minutes. Auto Lock disables the touchscreen and removes the icons from the display.
34 TIME The Time screen lets you set up clock alarms, set the system time, and set your local time zone. F rom the pop-up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: The follo wing screen displays: CLOCK ALARM This feature operates as an independent alarm clock.
35 4. Tap on the minute block. The UP/DOWN arrows move to the minute block. Set the minute. 5. Tap on AM/PM to toggle between the two. 6. Tap SAVE when you are finished. TIME SETTING This screen contains fields to set the Month, Day, Year, Hour, Minute, and AM/PM.
36 system will know that your request refers to the time zone the monitor is in. [Default = (GMT-6:00) Central Time (USA & Canada)] 1. Tap to display the Time Zone screen. 2. Scroll through the time zone lists to find your time zone. Tap on that time zone when you find it.

FORMAT Formatting the microSD card erases all data. If there are files you need to keep, transfer those files from the microSD card to your computer.
38 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Remove the microSD card. 2. Insert it into your computer. Use the adapter if needed. 3. Go to www.unidenvideo.com or www.
39 F rom the pop up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Select a language to change to that language. The Resto re Def ault S ettings screen displays. 2. Tap OK to continue with the language reset.
40 REMOTE ACCESS OVERVIEW Uniden Guardian lets you view live video from your Windows® PC, an iPhone®, iPad®, or Android TM smartphone or tablet. Free apps are available through the Apple App Store or the Android Market.
41 2. Connect the other end into your primary router (typically, the router from your service provider). 3. Place cradle maximum distance away from your router. 4. Insert the monitor into the cradle. A screen asks if you want to connect to the internet or to only charge the monitor.
42 1. Go to http://www.unidenvideo.com. Click Regis ter . The Selec t Regi on and Langua ge screen displays. 2. Fill out this page and click Submi t . The Legal Agreement displays. 3. Read and agree to the Legal Agreement. The Accou nt Set up screen displays 4.
43 11. Provide a Devic e Nick name (1). 12. Select your retailer from thelist (2). ENTER THE DID CODE After selecting your Uniden Guardian system, you must enter the DID code. This DID code can be found on the back of your monitor. It is the characters underneath the barcode.
44 1. Enter your own unique security code. 2. Click START . The security code you enter on the Uniden Video Portal and the Apps must match the security code you entered on the device. Anytime you change the security code on the device, you must make the corresponding change on the Portal or Apps.
45 USING THE UNIDEN GUARDIAN 2 APP ANDROID TM ESTABLISHING YOUR SYSTEM ON THE APP You can use a Google® Android TM smart phone or tablet with your Uniden Guardian System to remotely connect to and view live camera video. Follow these steps to download, add, and use the app.
46 5. Tap on the globe to view live video from that system. APP OPERATION When you open the APP on your Android phone, the image displayed on the main screen is the last camera image, captured automatically, from your previously established session. Main screen T ap to add an additional Uniden Guardian system.
47 • : Edit System. Tap this icon to change settings and enable email alerts and event notifications. • : Delete System. Tap this icon to delete the Uniden Guardian system. • : View Recorded Files. Tap this icon to display a list of recorded file (see page 47).
48 3. Tap VIEW RECORDED FILES . A list of recorded files (Event List) displays.You also have the following options available: ● Across the bottom of screen is a camera selection field with a drop-down menu; you can select which camera’s Event List you want to view.
49 Snapshot icon. T ap to take a picture. P ictures are saved to your phone. R ecord icon. T ap to begin recording. A red circle displays in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The app records for 2 minutes, and stores the recorded le on the monitor’ s microSD card.
50 DOWNLOAD 1. From your iPhone® or iPad®, go to the Apple App Store and search for Unide n Guar dian 2 . Download and install this App to your device. 2. Launch the app; tap PRESS TO ADD CAMERAS to add your system information to the app. Enter a name for your system in the Syste m Name field.
51 APP OPERATION When you open the APP on your iPhone or iPad, several icons display on the bottom task bar. Main screen T ap to add an additional Uniden Guardian system. T ap to enter Syste m Setup page. T ap to refresh the system. T ap to enter the APP Infor mation page.
52 TO ENABLE EVENT NOTIFICATION You can set your smartphone or device to notify you when there is a new recorded file. 1. Tap Setti ngs on your device. 2. Tap Notif icatio ns . A list of apps displays. 3. Tap Unide n Guar dian 2 . 4. The Uniden Guardian 2 setting screen displays.
53 P ause icon. T ap to pause playback. T ap again to resume playback. R eturn icon. T ap to return to the previous screen. TO DELETE FILES 1. Tap the DELETE ALL or DELETE ONE button on the bottom of the list of files. 2. If you tap DELETE ALL , a confirmation message display.

55 MAINTAINING YOUR SYSTEM UPGRADING YOUR UNIDEN GUARDIAN FIRMWARE Check your system firmware version on the Netwo rk Inf ormati on screen. Go to www.unidenvideo.
56 COPYING FILES FROM THE MICROSD CARD TO THE COMPUTER 1. Remove the microSD card from the monitor. 2. Insert it into your computer’s microSD card slot. Use an adapter if necessary. 3. Navigate to the microSD card and locate your files. 4. Copy them to the computer.
57 SOLVING PROBLEMS If you have any trouble with your system, try these simple steps. If you are still having a problem with your camera, check the manual that came with your camera. If you still have a question, call our Customer Care Line; see “Customer Care” on page 2.
58 The camera won’t pair with the monitor. • making sure the camera is plugged in and the red LED is on. • pressing and releasing the pairing button quickly. Do not press and hold the pairing button. When I power up my monitor and cameras for the first time, they seem to be on but there is no picture on the screen.
