11 BEFORE USING THE HOTPLATES FOR THE FIRST T IME Turn the c ontrol kno b to a medi um/high sett ing and a llow the h otplate to he at, unc overed by a sauc epan for 3- 5 minutes. Th is hardens the protec tive c oating on t he hotplat es and m akes it mor e resis tant to norma l use.
12 DEEP FAT FRYING SPECIAL FR YING NOTE: For safety purp oses when deep fat fr ying, fi ll the pan one third f ull of o il, DO NOT cover the p an with a lid and DO NOT leave th e pan unatt ended.

19 AFTER CLEANING To maintain the appear ance of the hotplates occas ionally ap ply a litt le salt fr ee veg etable oi l or commerci al restor ative agen t. To apply v egetable oil, f irst heat the hotp late on a medium s etting for 30 s econds then turn O FF.
