1 Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Introduction The TF 6000 PVRt digital receiver is fully compliant with the international Digital V ideo Broadcasting (DVB) standar d, and can receive digital br oadcastings. For its operation, you need an antenna, which must be installed appropriately .
2 Introduction vices, a selection of television and radio services have already been programmed for you. So all br oadcasting services that have gone on air are available to you. Y ou can find the latest transponder information from various br oadcasters on tele- text.

NOTE When the digital receiver is of f but plugged to a wall outlet, we say that it is in standby mode; on the other hand, when it is on, it is in operation mode.

2.4 Connecting the digital receiver 13 Connecting to the terrestrial antenna Connect the antenna cable to the ANT 1 IN socket on the digital receiver , and then connect the RF LOOP 1 OUT socket and the ANT 2 IN socket with a loop cable.
14 Setup Connecting to the video recorder by SCAR T connector Plug one end of the SCAR T cable into the VCR socket on the digital receiver . Then, plug the other end of the SCAR T ca- ble into the inp.
15 Chapter 3 Preference Settings 3.1 Language settings Y ou can designate languages for menu, audio track and subti- tle track. T o designate the language for menu, audio track or subtitle track, select the System Setting > Language Setting menu.
16 Preference Settings language. Once you select a language, the menu will be im- mediately displayed in the selected language. Subtitle language Set the 1st Subtitle Language and 2nd Subtitle Language op- tions to your desired languages.
3.2 V ideo and audio settings 17 T o configure the video and au- dio settings, select the System Setting > A/V Output Setting menu. 3.2.1 T elevsion standard The digital receiver supports two types of television standar d. One is P AL standard, and the other is NTSC standard.

If the option is set to Standard , the digital receiver will pass the video from the video r ecorder to your television when the video recor der starts playback.

The left figure shows a normal picture displayed in the normal scr een. T o watch wide-screen pr ograms in the shape like the center fig- ure, set the 16:9 Display F ormat option to Letter Bo x .
3.3 Local time setting 21 T o set the local time, select the System Setting > Time Setting menu. Y ou can set the local time either yourself manually or using Greenwich Mean T ime (GMT) automatically; however , it is recommended to use the Gr eenwich mean time.

3.4 Parental control 23 grams by specifying a basis classification. T o specify a basis classifica- tion, select the System Set- ting > P arental Control menu. At this time, you have to en- ter Personal Identification Num- ber (PIN). The default personal identification number is ‘0000’.
24 Preference Settings If anyone try to watch a program that is out of the basis clas- sification, the person has to enter the personal identification number . T o change the number , select the Change PIN Code menu; then an input box appears. Y ou have to enter your de- sired number twice for confirmation.
3.6 T o use the time shift feature 25 3.6 T o use the time shift feature Y ou can use the time shift feature with this digital receiver . T ime shift just means that the most recent hour of the tele- vision service you are watching is saved on the har d disk of the digital receiver .
26 Service Search Chapter 4 Service Search Y ou have to perform service search after connecting the digital receiver . 4.1 Searching broadcasting services T o perform service search, se- lect the Installation > Ser vice Search menu.
4.2 Resetting to factory settings 27 Y ou should set the Search Mode option to A uto at the first ser- vice search after connecting the digital r eceiver . The digital r e- ceiver will search all available services with automatic sear ch mode. T ransponder numbers range from 6 to 12 at VHF and 28 to 69 at UHF .

Pressing button recalls the service you have watched just before. Y ou can switch to your desried servce by entering its service number with the numeric buttons.
5.1 W atching television 29 means pay service. Y ou cannot watch pay services with this receiver . T o select your desired service, put the highlight bar on its en- try with the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ P + or ¤ £ ¡ ¢ P − button and press the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ OK button.
30 Daily Usage T o select a favorite service of a group, press the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ V + button; then the highlight bar of the favorite list becomes movable. Once you select a desired entry with the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ OK button, the selected service will be shown.
5.1 W atching television 31 In addition, you might see the following symbols: • Subtitle symbol if subtitles ar e provided on the cur- rent pr ogram. • T eletext symbol if teletext is provided on the curr ent program. • Lock symbol if the current service is locked.
32 Daily Usage tracks are pr ovided. If it is, press button, then available subtitle tracks will be listed. Select your desired subtitle lan- guage in the list, and it will be displayed. 5.1.5 V iewing teletext Some programs ar e provided together with such profitable information as weather reports, news or stock quotations by means of teletext.
5.3 W atching multifeed services 33 T o see detailed information of a desired program entry , put the highlight bar on your choice with the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ P + or ¤ £ ¡ ¢ P − button and press button. T o switch over to another service, press the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ V − or ¤ £ ¡ ¢ V + button.
34 Daily Usage 5.4 W atching by time shift When you are watching a pr ogram, you can reverse and watch it again as if it is a recor ding. This function is called time shift. When you are watching a pr ogram using the time shift func- tion, it is in fact being recor ded temporarily .
5.5 W atching by picture in picture 35 5.5 W atching by picture in picture Y ou can watch two services at the same time, one of which is shown in a subpicture. This function is called Picture-in- Picture (PiP). How to use the picture-in-pictur e function is as follows: 1.
36 Listing Services Chapter 6 Listing Services Editing favorite list Y ou can make your own favorite service list. T o edit your favorite list, select the Organizing F av or ties menu; then an ed- itable favorite list appears. There ar e a group list on the left column, a favorite list on the center column and a service list on the right column.
37 2. Then the highlight bar of the service list becomes mov- able. Put the hightlight bar on a desired service entry and press the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ OK button. 3. Then the selected service entry is added in the favorite list. Y ou can select more entries to add.
38 Listing Services tries will be listed in the service list. T o recall the television service list after adding radio services, press button again. W ith your favorite service list, you can select your favorite ser- vices more handily . Refer to § 5.
39 Chapter 7 Recording and Playing W ith one tuner of the digital receiver , you can record a service and at the same time watch another service if the two services are pr ovided thorugh a same transponder .
40 Recording and Playing 7.1 Recording a program Circle Once a recor ding is started, a recording symbol like the next figure will be displayed on the right top of the screen for a few seconds.
7.1 Recording a program 41 rent r ecording will be stopped the moment the current pr o- gram ends; likewise, once the After ne xt progr am option is se- lected, the current recor ding will be stopped the moment the next program ends. Selecting the Record pause command pauses r ecording.
42 Recording and Playing T o make a timer recording, se- lect the Timer Setting menu; then a timer list appears. T o add a new timer entry , press the button, and then a timer edit box appears. Y ou have to set the Record option to On to record a pr ogram.
7.1 Recording a program 43 Set the Date option to a date, on which your porgram will be recor ded. The date format is day/month/year–day of the week . Set the Star t Time option to a time, at which your program will be recor ded. Y ou can enter it with the numeric buttons.
44 Recording and Playing For instructions on setting up IceTV please visit http://www. icetv.com.au/topfield . How to set a timer r ecording by the program guide is as follows. 1. Select the service you want to recor d. 2. Press the ¤ £ ¡ ¢ GUIDE button to display its electronic pr ogram guide.
7.2 File list 45 7.2 File list In recor ding a program, it is stored as a file in the built-in hard disk of the digital receiver . Y ou can choose and play back a recor ding file you want in the recording file list. In addition to the recor ding file list, there are MP3 file list and T opfield Application Program (T AP) file list.
46 Recording and Playing T o move a file to another folder T o move a file to another folder , put the highlight bar on a file entry you want and press button. Then a folder list ap- pears. Once you choose a folder in the list, the file gets moved to that folder .
7.3 Playing back a recording 47 T o lock a recording file T o lock a file, perform the following steps: 1. Put the highlight bar on a file entry you want. 2. Press button to display an option list. 3. T o lock the file, set the Lock option to Loc ked .
48 Recording and Playing Circle Once a playback is started, a playback symbol like the next figure will be displayed on the right top of the screen for a few seconds.
7.3 Playing back a recording 49 The digital receiver can play back not only forwar d but also backward in fast motion. T o play back backward in fast mo- tion, press button. Whenever pressing button, play- back speed changes in 3 steps: 1, 2 and 3 times speed.
50 Recording and Playing 2. T o add a bookmark, press button at a position you want. 3. T o jump to a following bookmark, press button. 4. T o delete a bookmark, jump to the bookmark you want and press button. When there is no pr eset bookmark, pressing button makes a jump forward 30 seconds.
7.4 Editing a recording 51 7.4 Editing a recording 7.4.1 T o erase a block from a recording Y ou can cut out a block such as commercial film from a r ecord- ing file by performing the following steps: 1. Start playback of a recor ding file you want.
52 Recording and Playing 7. Select the Sav e command, then the block is stored. The stored file will named after its sour ce file with a suffix of ‘CUT’ and a number In addition, you can copy a recording file in whole or in part when playing back it.
7.6 Formatting hard disk 53 2. Put the highlight bar on a file entry you want to play . If you want to play several files, select them with button. 3. Press ¤ £ ¡ ¢ OK button to start play . 4. T o see the detailed information about a MP3 file being played, press to display an information box.

66 Accessing to The Digital Receiver NOTE The maximum number of the user connection is only one. This means that you cannot access the web server while someone else is occupying it. 9.4 Accessing to the FTP server Y ou need a FTP client program to access the digital receiver ’s FTP server .

70 Firmware Update and Data T ransfer From a computer via RS232 port It is possible to transfer a new firmware to the digital r eceiver from your computer connecting them with a RS232 cable. Y ou need TFD-Down , the firmware transfer utility for this, which is available at the T opfield web site, http://www.
10.2 T ransferring the receiver data 71 T o update firmware with this method, perform the following steps: 1. Plug a RS232 cable into the RS-232 port on the digital receiver and the other ’s. 2. T urn both of them on. 3. Select the Installation > T ransfer Fir mware > T ransfer Firmware to Other IRD menu.
