1. USER PRECAUTIONS Avoid installing t h e unit near heaters, as wel l as locations exposed t o direct sunlight a s t his ma y discolor or de fo rm the unit's exterior. 2 . CASSETTE TAPES Your ta pe player automatically detects the type o f ta p e you ar e using, without having t o switch a tape selector in accordance wi th the type of tape.
3. NOMENCLATURE [BA-800] < Fro nt Vie w > Power Switch Press this switch to t urn power O N. To turn power OF F, press this switch again. Power Indicator (Green) Lights whe n th e power is switched ON, and goe s ou t when switched OFF. Play Button Press this button when playing back a tape.

4. CONNECTIONS 4.1. BA-800 Connection Examples [Note] : B e sur e to pl ug th e power co rd into the 1 20V AC wall outlet. I f th e power voltage differs, the equipment may not wo rk properly or fires or electrical shocks ma y result.

4.4. Speaker Connections [BA-806] Low-impedance speakers (4 to 16 OUTPUT Whe n connecting t wo or more speakers, make sure that t he total speaker im pedance is g r ea t e r th an 4 .. ( I f t w o 8 speakers are connected in parallel, t he total impedance is 4 ) .

5 . OPERATION [BA-800, BA-806 an d BA-823] Check f or proper connection of th e power cord, speaker cables, et c. Set each volume control to minimum p osition. Se t the tone control to center position. (BA-806/BA-823) Set each of the following switches t o desired position: AGC switch: Refer to p.
(3 ) Tape Ejection and Loading Pr ess the eject button to eject the tape. Whe n inserting a new tape, set t he Dolby N R switch t o ON o r O FF depending o n whether or not the tape ha s been recorded using th e Dolby NR. [Note] : ( 1 ) Tape c an be e je c te d only when the power i s O N.
(6) Microphone Announcements [BA-806 an d BA-823] Connect a microphone t o t he microphone input terminal located on the rear panel. Set the power switch to ON, and confirm th at the power ind icat or lights.
5.2. Track Sequence Selection [BA-800, BA-806 an d BA-823] Whe n both cassette player units ( TA P E 1 and 2) are used, the tapes ca n be played back in order of s id e A-A-B-B or A-B-A-B, which is selectable by means of th e track sequence selection switch.
6 . EXPANSION Connection of the BA- 800 (BA-806 or BA-823) to the BA-800 increases the number of usable cassette player units fr o m t w o to f ou r , whi ch r epeat plays in tur n. 6.1. Connections (1) Expansion using on e B A -800 Se t bo th link sw i t ches to ON .

6.2. Operation of an Expanded System Fo llo w th e procedures below to operate the BA-806 expanded by using two BA-800 units. (The operation is quite similar t o that wh ic h is r eq uir ed wh e n using t wo BA - 800 units to expand the BA-800, BA-806 or BA-823.
[Note]: ( 1 ) If t he pla y button of other connected player is pressed during playback, its tape starts to run a nd ta pe travel ind ica tor li ght s. I n this event, the hi ghest p rio rity is given to the BA-806, followed by the BA-800 connected directly to the BA-806, and the remaining BA-800 unit.
6.3. T im er Connection When Expanded Ev en when the system is expanded, a timer can be used to co ntrol ON/ OF F operation of ta pe pl ayback. In th is event, p l ay begins with th e component th e timer is connected to . [Note] : Connect al l the timer stop input terminals to each ot her.
7 . FAULT INDICATION [BA-800, BA-806 a nd BA-823] If a cassette player unit ( TAPE 1 or 2) mal fun ctions, the corresponding tap e travel indica tor flashes. Tape travel indi cator TAPE 1 TAPE 2 Flashes when TAPE 1 deck mal f unctions. Flashes w hen T A P E 2 deck m alfunctions.
9. CASSETTE PLAYER U N I T (CU-800) REPLACEMENT Revolving parts o f a unit mechanism a re impaired wi t h extended use , downgrading the sound quality. T he CU - 800's life is approximately 2,000 hours, which can b e made 4,000 hours (5 00 days f o r 8 hours pe r da y ) by using tw o units alternately.
11. TROUBLESHOOTING Although some failures can be traced to legitimate mechanical faults, some are in fact the results o f improper maintenance, tape defects or lack o f experience i n operating the player. I f you think that there i s a failure, refer first to the following checklist.
