2 UNP ACKING Carefully unpack the unit . If it is damaged, please return it to your nearest T esco store for replacement . Remember to take your purchase r eceipt with you. Retain the User Handbook. If y ou pass the unit on to a third par ty make sur e you pass on the handbook.

4 BA T TERY AND CHARGING POWER SUPPL Y The play er is power ed by an internal r echargeable battery . Battery cautions The battery is not replaceable. D o not att empt to open the player to replace the batt ery. As the unit contains a batt er y , do not throw it int o water , the general rubbish or in a re.
5 How does the play er work? A library of music les is created on a personal computer . These les are generally copied to the computer from music CDs (ripped). Y ou can then select music within the librar y that you want to listen to on your personal MP3 pla yer .
6 Collect together the CDs that you want t o include in your library and rip (copy) them into the Windo ws Media Player (WMP) library . Open W indows Media Player 11.
7 BUILDING A MUSIC LIBRARY ON Y OUR COMPUTER Load the CD you want to rip int o • the computer drive . The CD will play and the ripping proc ess will begin. R ipping pr ogrees is indicated as shown. Once the ripping process is • complete, you can remove the disc and rip another if required .
8 Copying music to y our player Switch on y our computer . • Open W indows Media Player 11. • Lift the cov er ov er the USB jack and • connect the USB cable (supplied). Connect the other end of the • cable to a convenien t USB por t on your computer .
9 The display above the sync list will show the available memor y in your player . When you have added all the • music you wan t to transfer , press the ‘Star t Sync’ button at the bottom of the sync list. Synchr onisation will start as W indows Media Player copies all the music les to your play er .
10 USING WINDOWS EXPL ORER TO TRANSFER MUSIC FILES Copying music to y our player using Windows Explorer For users familiar with computer le transfer , W indows Explorer can be used as an alternative to Windows Media Player 11 to transfer music les to your pla yer .
11 Disconnecting the player Locat e the ‘Safely Remove Hardware ’ icon on the taskbar at the • bottom right of the screen. Double click the icon. • In the box that opens , click Stop . • Another screen opens . Click OK. • When y ou see the ‘Safe T o Remove Har dware’ notice, y ou can • remov e the player .
12 OPERA TION SWITCHING THE PLA YER ON AND OFF Switching the play er on The display lights. After a shor t delay a welcome message ‘T echnika’ is shown on the display , then the main menu. Switching the play er o Press and • hold the button for 3 seconds .
13 PLA YING MUSIC Playing music: Select the ‘MUSIC’ mode from the main menu. • After a shor t delay the display will show the Music Sta tus screen with track n umber etc. Sample rate 1. Repeat mode 2. EQ setting 3. T rack elapsed time 4. Battery level 5.
14 Y our player includes 4 special functions that may be selected from the Advanced Menu when music is pla ying. These are - Repeat mode • Equaliser • T empo rate • F avourit es • Exit • T o open the Advanced Menu: Check that music is playing (not paused).
15 Equaliser: There ar e 6 equaliser mode options that will change the sound response of your pla yer . T o change the equaliser setting, selec t the Equaliser option from • the Advanced Menu . Press the • or button to scr oll through the available options .
16 Fa vourites pla ylist: When y ou hear a track you like, you can save it as a fav ourite in your playlist. When y ou ha ve a collection of favourites saved y ou can choose to play the complet e playlist of your fav ourites.
17 MAKING VOICE RECORDINGS Y our player includes a microphone and recording capability . Y ou can use the recor ding function to make a recor ding, then pla y it back. T o record a voice: Select the ‘RECORD’ mode from the main menu. • After a short delay , the display will show the Recording Status scr een.
18 PLA YING VOICE REC ORDINGS T o play a voice recording: Press the • or button t o choose the voic e recor ding you w ant to play fr om the list of those available.
19 FM RADIO Y our player includes an FM radio r eceiver . T o play the FM radio: Ensure that headphones are connected to the player as the • headphone wire is used as an FM radio aerial . Select the ‘R adio ’ mode from the Main menu. • After a short delay , the display will show the FM radio menu.

21 Deleting a preset station from y our favourites: Select the preset station you want t o delete. • When the station is playing and the preset number is displayed, • open the FM radio Adv anced Menu. Select the ‘D elete ’ option from the Menu.
22 MUSIC FILE AND FOLDER NA VIGA TION Y ou can navigate the folders stor ed on your pla yer . This enables y ou to change to another folder on your play er and selec t a dierent album (if your tracks are stored by album). A t ypical folder layout (tree) is shown on the right.
23 DELETING MUSIC FILES T o delete the le that is playing , or all les in the folder playing: Press the • /, button to pause playback. Press the • button to open the F older menu. Scroll to the ‘D elete le’ or ‘D elete All’ option (Delete All will delete • all les in the album/folder).
24 SET TINGS MENU There are a number of congurable settings within your player that can be set up through the Settings Menu. T o open the S ettings menu: Select the ‘S ettings’ mode from the Main menu.
25 Po wer o: There ar e t wo P ower O options available - O Time - the unit will power o after a set delay if the player is • not playing or being operat ed. Sleep time - the unit will power o after a set delay after the • player has nished pla ying.
26 SET TINGS MENU Firmwar e version: This option will display the version of the rmware installed in your player . T his information ma y be helpful if you ha ve a r eason to c ontact a service agent concerning your play er .
27 TROUBLESHOO TING No power: The batt er y may be a t. Re-charge the battery and tr y again. No sound, but the track is pla ying: The volume ma y be turned down. Check that the music format of this tr ack is suppor ted . Unable to make a recording: There may not be enough power in the battery .
