1 Chapter 1 Introduction This Chapter provides details of the Network Camera's features, compo nents and capabilities. Overview The Network Camera has an Integrated Microcomputer and a high quali.
• Viewing/Recording Utility. A user-friendly Windows utility is provided for viewing live video. For periods when you are absent, or f or scheduled rec ording, this a pplication als o allows you to record video to a n ASF file on y our PC.
Physical Details - Network Camera Front - Network Camera Lens No physical adjustment is required or possible for the len s, but you sh ould ensure that th e len s cover remain clean. The image quality is de graded if the lens c over is dirty or smudge d.

2 Chapter 2 Basic Setup This Chapter provides details of installin g and configuring th e Netwo rk Camera. System Requirements • To use the wi red LAN interfa ce, a standard 10/100BaseT hub or switch and network cabl e is required. • To use the Wir eless interface, ot her Wireless de vices must be co m pliant with the IEEE802.
4. Check the LEDs • The Power LED will turn on briefly, then start blinking. It will blink dur ing startup, which takes 15 to 20 seconds. After startup is completed, the Power LED shoul d remain ON. • The Network LED shoul d be ON. For more infor mation, refer to Physical Details - Network Camera in Chapter 1.
2. The next screen, shown below, will list all the Network Cameras on your LAN. Figure 3: Camera List Screen • Select the desired Camera from the list on the left. The current settings for the selected Ca mera will be displayed in the tabl e on the right.
4. This screen allows you to enter a suitable Description , and set th e correct Time Zone , Date , and Time . Make any desi red changes, then click Next to continue. Figure 5: Camera Settings 5. On the following IP Address Settings screen, shown below, choose Fixed IP Address or Dynamic IP Address .
6. If you chose Fixed IP Address , the following TCP/IP Settings screen will be displayed. Figure 7: TCP/ IP Settings • Enter an unused IP Address from within the address range use d on your L AN. • The Subnet Mask and Default Gateway fi elds must m atch the values used by PCs on your LAN.
10 8. Click OK to confirm that you want to save the new settings. If you want to cancel your changes, click Cancel . Figure 9: Confirm Screen 9. After clicking OK , you will see the screen below.
3 Chapter 3 Viewing Live Video This Chapter provides basic informa tion about viewing live vid eo. Overview After finishin g setu p vi a the Win do ws -ba sed Wizard, all LAN users can view li ve vide o using Internet Ex pl ore r on Windows. This Chapter has details of viewing live video using Internet Explorer.

If the Adm inistrator has restricted access to known users, y o u will then be prompted for a username and password. Enter the nam e and password assi gned to you by t he Network Cam era administrator.
Connecting to a Camera via the Internet You can NOT connect to a camera v ia the Inte rne t unless the camera Administrator has configur ed both the camera and the Internet Gate w ay/Router used by the camer a. See Making Video available from the Internet in Chapter 4 - Advanced Viewing Setup for details of the required configuration.
6. If the Adm inistrator has restricted access to known users, y o u will then be prompted for a username and password. Enter the nam e and password assi gned to you by t he Network Cam era administrator. 7. The first time you connect to the camera, you will be prompted to install an ActiveX component (OCX or CAB file), as in the example below.
15 General Options These options are always available, re gardless of the type of camera you are c onnected to. Camera Patrol. Move through the Preset pos itions in the sequence defined by the Camera Adm inistrator. Camera Auto Pan. Click this to have the camera moved fro m left to right automatically.
4 Chapter 4 Advanced Viewing Setup This Chapter provides informatio n about the optiona l settings and features for viewing video via the Network Camera.
3. Make the re quired adjustm ents, as explained below, and save your changes. MPEG-4 Settings Resolution Select the de sired video resolution fo rmat. The defaul t resolution is set to 320*240. Video Quality Control • Constant Bit Rate: Select the d e sired b it rate.
Controlling User Access to the Video Stream By default, anyone can connect to the Network Camera and view live Video at any time. If desired, you can limit access to sc heduled time s, and als o restrict access to known users. To Control User Access to Live Video: 1.
Making Video available from the Internet If your LAN i s connected to the Internet, typical ly by a Broadband Gateway/Router a nd Broadband m odem, you can make the Network Camera available via th e Internet. You will need to configure your Router or Gatew a y to allow connections from the Inte rnet to the camera.
Network Camera Setup The Network Cam era confi g urati o n d oes N OT ha ve be c h ange d, unless: • You wish to change the port n umber from the de fault value (1024). • You wish to us e the DDNS (Dynamic DNS ) feature of the Netwo rk Camera. HTTP Port Configuration Normally, HTTP (Web) connections use por t 80.
2. Enter and save th e correct DDNS settings on th e DDNS screen of the Network Cam e ra. Figure 20: DDNS Screen 3. Operation is then automatic: • The Network Camera will automatically contact the DDNS serv er whenever it detects that the Intern et IP address has changed, and i nform the DDNS server of the new IP a ddress.
Viewing Live Video with the Viewing/Recording Utility If using the Windows Viewing/Recording Utility, the details of the Network Camera must be entered on the Camera Setu p screen. Motion Detection Alerts The Motion Detection feature can generate an Alert when motion is detected. The Network Camera will compare consecutive frames to det ect changes caused by the movement of large objects. But the motion detector can also be triggered by: • Sudden cha nges in the level of available li ght • Movement of the camera itself.
24 5. Select the E-Mail screen to have alert s sent by E-m ail: • Enable and enter at least one (1) E-m ail address • Select or enter the desired options for Video Attachment , Show " From" as and Subject fields. • Enter details of the SMTP Server used to send the E-mail.
5 Chapter 5 Web-based Management This Chapter provides Setup details of th e Network Camera ’s Web-based Interface. This Chapter is for the Camera Administrator only. Introduction The Network Camera can be configured usin g you r Web Browser. The Network Camera must have an IP address which is compatible with your PC.
Welcome Screen When you connect, the following screen will be displayed. Figure 23: Welcome Screen The menu options available from this screen are: • View Video - View live Vi de o using your Web Browser. See Chapter 3 - V iewing Live Video for details.
Administration Menu Clicking o n Administration on the menu provides access to all th e settings for the Network Camera. The Administration menu contains t he following opt ions: Setup • System • .
System Screen After clicking Administration on the main menu, or selecting System on the Administration menu, you will see a screen like the example below. Figure 24: System Screen Data - System Screen System Settings Device ID This displays the name for th e Network Camera.
Time Zone Choose the Time Zone for your location fro m the drop-down list. If your location is currently using Daylight Saving , en able the Adjust for daylight saving ch eckbox. You must UNCHECK this checkbox when Daylig ht Saving finishes . Network Time Protocol Enable or di sable the Tim e Server feature a s required.
Data - Network Screen Net w ork Obtain an IP Address Automatically If selected, the Network Camera will obtain its IP a ddress and related information from a DHCP Server. Only select this option if your LAN has a DHCP Server. Use the following IP Address If selected, you must assign t he following data to the Net work Camera.
Wireless Screen (Wireless Model Only) This screen is displayed when the Wireless menu option is clicked. Figure 26: Wireless Screen Data - Wireless Screen Wireless Network WSC PIN Code It displays the WSC PIN co de number for the camera. Network Type This determines the type of wireless communication used by the Network Camera.
Security Security System Select the desir ed option, and then enter the set tings for the sel ected method: • Disabled - No security is used. Anyone using the correct S SID can conne ct to your networ k. • WEP - The 802.11b standard . Data is en crypted before transmission, but the en cryptio n system is not very strong.
DDNS Screen Many Internet connections use a "Dy namic IP address", where the Internet IP address is allocated wh e never the Internet connecti on is established. This means that other Internet users don't know th e IP address, so can't establish a connection .
Data - DDNS Screen DDNS Enable DDNS Enable or di sable the DDNS function, as requi red. Only enable this feature if y ou have registered for the DDNS Service with a DDNS Server provid er.
Video & Audio Screen This screen is displayed when the Video & Audio option is clicked. Figure 28: Video & Audio Screen 35.
Data - Video & Audion Screen MPEG-4 Settings Resolution Select the de sired video resolution fo rmat. The defaul t resolution is set to 320*240. Video Quality Control • Constant Bit Rate: Select the d e sired b it rate. The default is set to 1.2 Mbps.
Video Access Screen This screen is displayed when the Video Access option on the Video & Audio menu i s clicked. Figure 29: Video Access Screen 37.
Data - Video Access Screen User Acc ess Enable Security Checking • If disabled - No login re quired, users do not have to provi de a username and pa ssword when they connect to the camera to view vide o. • If enabled - Require login, users will be prompted for a username and password when they connect to the camera to view video.
User Database Screen This screen is displayed when the User D atabase op tion on the Video & Audio menu is cl icked. Figure 30: User Database Screen Data - User Database Screen Existing Users User List This displays all users you have entered into the User database.

Trigger Event Motion Detection If enabled, movement in a motio n d etection window can be used to trigg er even ts. Pan/Tilt Configuration This option is only availab le if your cam era is fitted with a Pan/Tilt control. If available, select the desired option to resolve conflict between the Pan/Tilt and Motion Detection features.
Maintenance Screen . Figure 38: Maintenance Screen Data - Maintenance Screen Administrator Login Administrator ID Enter the name for the Adm i nistrator here . Spaces, punctuation, and s pecial characters must NOT be used in the name. Administrator Password The password for the Administrator.
Backup & Restor e Backup Configuration File Click Backup button to save the current config uratio n information to a text file. Restore Configuration File Click Restore button to reinitialize the ca mera to load the new updated software. Do this after loading the upgrade file.

Wireless (Wireless Model Only ) WSC PIN Dode It displays the current WSC PIN code. Network Type This shows the Network Type currently in use (Ad-hoc or Infr astru cture). SSID This d isplays the wireless SSID. Channel This shows th e wireless ch annel currently used.

6 Chapter 6 Windows Monitor/Playback/IP Recorder Utility This Chapter d escribes how to view an d record the live video st ream generate d by the Network Ca mera, using the supplied Windows utility. Overview The recommended m ethod to view video is to use the supplied Wi ndows Viewing/Recording utility.
System Tray Icon When started, the program will create an icon in the Wi ndows system tray on the taskbar, as sh own below. Figure 42: System Tray Icon You can right click the icon and it will prov ides a menu which allows you to v iew program details, v iew the main screen, or ter mina te the program.
Camera Setup To define a camera and ass ociate it with a Channel Number . 1. Click the Setup button on the main screen. You will see a screen like th e example below. Figure 44: Camera Setup Screen 2. Select the desired C hannel number in the left ( No.
Camera Data - LAN Local ID This is the name you gave t o this camera. This field must be entered. Camera Name This is the default name for the Ne twork Camera, and cannot be changed. IP Address The current IP address of the Network Camera. Port Number This will normally display "80".
Adding Cameras on the Internet If the Network Camera you wish to ad d is no t on your LAN, but is available v ia the Internet, click th e Internet button. You will see a screen like the example below. Figure 45: Add Camera from Internet To associate a camera with t he current Channel : 1.
Stream Type Select the desir ed video stream type. There mi ght be either MPEG 4 or Motion-JP G streami ng type. Setup Camera Pages Click this button to connect the Web-based interface of the Camera Enable Trigger Event Check this if you want th e Camera to have the feature enabled.
Move Control . Use this to move the camera to the desired position. There may a short delay after clicking the desired icon. You sh ould wait a couple of seconds rather than click again. Channel Indicator. This indicates the c urrent channel (camera).
Recording Video You can rec ord Video while watching, or sched ule recordings to occur when you are a bsent. Recordin gs are stored in a stan dard Microsoft ASF file format , and can be played using Microsoft M edia Player. Before doing a ny recording, you s hould review the reco rding settings to ensure they are suitable for your PC.
Preferences This screen is displayed after clicking the Preferences tab on the Set up screen. If necessary, change these settings to suit your environm ent. Disk Allocation for Each Camer a Re c ording Total Disk Space This displays the total size of the disk selected for storing recordings. Available Disk Space This displays the available space of the disk selected for storing rec ordings. Enable Disk space limitation Enable this if you wish to limi t the disk space u sed by video recordings.
