V iewing the Displa y Scr een This list identifies the symbols you’ ll see on your displa y screen. shows your current signal strength. The more lines you have, the strong er your signal. means your phone cannot find a signal. indicates the call is on hold.
indicates the handset is communicating with a Bluetooth device. indicates your access to a secure site. shows the level of y our batter y charge. The more bars you see, the more po wer you have left. (The icon is animated while the batter y is charging.
T ur ning Y our Phone ON and OFF T ur ning Y our Phone On Press . Once your phone is on, it displa ys “Looking for ser vice... ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode.
Using the Bat tery Installing the Bat tery 1. Insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone and gentl y press it down. 2. Place the batter y cover , and then slide it upward until you hear it snap into place. 3. Slide the batter y cover release lev er as indicated in the diagram shown below .
K eeping track of your battery’ s charge is important. If your batter y level becomes too low , your phone automaticall y tur ns off and you will lose all the information you w ere just working on.
Using the Holst er At taching the phone to the holst er 1. With the fr ont of the phone facing the holster , insert the bottom of the phone into the holster .
Removing the phone fr om the holster 1. With y our forefing er , push against the holster’ s top plate while gripping the phone at the sides. 2. The phone can now be easily r emoved from the holster .
Na vig ating Thr ough Phone Menus The navigation key on your phone allows you to scr oll through menus quickl y and easily . The scroll bar at the right of the menu keeps track of y our position in the menu at all times. T o navigate through a menu, simply press the navigation key up or down.
Displa ying Y our Phone Number Select > Settings > Phone Info > My Phone# . (Y our phone number and other information about your phone will be display ed.) T ip: Y ou can also display your phone number through the Contacts menu. Select > Contacts > My Name Card .
T o place a call with the phone closed: 1. Make sure your phone is on and the Side K ey Guard featur e is disabled. (See “Setting Side Key Guard” on page 50.) 2. Press and hold Side Call key ( ) on the right side of the phone. 3. Follow the system prompts and sa y the name of your registered v oice dial ta g (see the note below).
Hard Pause to insert a hard pause. (See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With P auses” on page 24.) 2-Sec. Pause to insert a 2-second pause. (See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With P auses” on page 24.) Hyphen to insert a hyphen manually wher e you like.
The following options ar e also displayed by pressing Options (right softke y). Note: If you set the Open menu of the Open/Close Flip feature to Answer Call , and if you open the phone when you receive a call, the options below are not available. Answer to answ er the call.
Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not answ ered, the missed call log is display ed on your screen. T o call the missed call entry from the notification scr een: Press Call (left softkey). T ip: If you have two or more notifications, the Missed Alerts list will appear .
In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays menu options by pressing Options (right softke y). Flash to answ er an incoming call while putting the cur rent call in Call W aiting. Mute or Unmute to mute or reactivate y our phone’ s microp hone.
End-of-Call Options T o display the following options, pr ess Options (right softke y) within 10 seconds after disconnecting a call. Call Again to dial the phone number . Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode. Send Message to send a te xt messa ge.
4. Enter a name for the ne w entr y using the keypad and press . – or – Search f or an existing contact name and pr ess to save the new number . 5. Press Save (left softkey) > Done (left softke y). Finding a Phone Number Y ou can search Contacts entries f or phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers.

Prepend to predefine the first five- or six-digit pref ix you wish to use for ab breviated dialing, so that you can dial a number by entering only the last three to ten digits of the number . This featur e becomes available when you enable Ab breviated Dialing featur e.
Ent er ing T ext Selecting a Charact er Input Mode Y our phone provides conv enient ways to enter w ords, letter s, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter te xt (for example, when adding a Contacts entry or when sending te xt messa ges).
Enter ing Char acters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T e xt Input lets you enter te xt in your phone by pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 W ord mode when entering te xt, see “Selecting a Character Input Mode” on page 27.
2. Select an option and press . Next WordPrediction to automaticall y display the wor d that may f ollow the cur rent te xt input. Word Completion to sho w the completed words that match the keys you’ ve entered without entering the whole word.

Set ting Up Key Pr ess Echo With this f eature, you can hear a v oice say the numbers when you press the keypad. This feature is av aila ble when you ar e in standby mode. 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > Others > Key Press Echo . 2. Select On or Off .
3. Select a setting and press . T ip: Y ou can select Once or Repeat Alert if you select Push 2 T alk Calls, P2T Missed, V oicemail or Messaging. Repeat Alert sounds an alert every two minutes for twenty minutes. (For Push 2 T alk calls, an alert sounds continuously .
Displa y Set tings Changing the Phone ’ s Menu Style Y our phone allows you to c hoose how the main menu appear s on your displa y screen. 1. Select > Options (r ight softkey) > Change View . 2. Select Grid View or List View . Grid View to view each main menu item as an animated single-screen icon.
P ow er Sav e Mode This featur e helps conser ve your batter y power by setting the Main LCD and Sub LCD backlights to “ Dim Only , ” the Main LCD sleep mode to “ after 30 sec. ” , and the Sub LCD sleep mode to “ after 5 sec. ” 1. Select > Settings > Display > Power Save Mode .
Changing the Display f or Incoming Calls 1. Select > Settings > Display > Incoming Calls . 2. Select an option ( Preset , My Content , -Get New , or Off ) and press .
Changing the Font Siz e 1. Select > Settings > Display > Others > Font Size . 2. Select View or Input . View to select Main LCD (and then, Messaging or Browser ) or Sub LCD (and then Names/Phone#s ). Input to select Phone#s , Messaging or Others .
Location Set tings Y our phone is equipped with a Location featur e for use in connection with location-based services that may be available in the future. Note: The Location feature is currently not available. The Location featur e allows the network to detect your position.
Messaging Set tings Set ting Message Notification Display Y ou can set your phone to displa y an icon and message notification or just display an icon notification when y ou receive a te xt messa ge, picture messag e or voicemail. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Notification .
Set ting Y our Callback Number With this f eature, you can send a callback n umber with your text message. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > T ext > Send Callback# . 2. Press , and then select an option and press . None to send no callback number .
Air plane Mode When your phone is in Airplane mode, it cannot send or receiv e any calls (e xcept for 111 dialing) or access online inf or mation. Y ou may still use the phone ’ s other features, such as v oice memo, calculator , calendar , etc., while you are in Airplane mode.
Phone Setup Options My F av our ites Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut to a fav our ite or often-used function. Pressing Favourites (left softkey) will launch your user-defined shortcut. T o assign your shortcut: 1. Press Favourites (left softkey).
Default Input to select T9 word , Alphabet , or Retain Mode fo r the initial entr y mode. Set Retain Mode to retain the previous entr y mode (see page 30). Auto-Space to set the auto-space on or off after T9 words you enter . T9 Settings to customise the T9 settings (see page 28).
T o activat e the Close Flip feat ure: 1. From step 2 on the previous pag e, select Close . (Y ou will see a message on the display .) 2. Press OK (left softkey) to continue. 3. Select an option and press . End to end the call. Continue(Mute) to continue the call.
Set ting Po wer On t o Aler t Po wer On to Alert helps prevent unintentional or accidental power-on of y our phone ’ s alarm settings while your phone is turned of f. This feature applies onl y to Event Alerts, Call Alar m, and Alarm Clock. (The default setting is Off .
Set ting Navigation K ey Shor tcuts Y ou can use the navigation keys as shor tcuts to access specific menu items directl y from standb y mode. With this f eature, you can reassign the default shortcuts to the menu items y ou choose. T o set the navigation k ey shor tcut: 1.
5. Secur ity A ccessing the Secur ity Menu Y ou must enter your loc k code to view the Security menu. 1. Select > Settings > Security . 2. Enter your lock code. T ip: If you never changed the lock code number and you can’t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of your phone number .
Calling in Lock Mode Y ou can place calls to 111, Customer Ser vice, and to your special numbers even if your phone is locked. (See “ Locking Y our Phone ” on page 51.) T o call an emer gency number , special number , or Customer Service, enter the phone number and press .
Using Special Numbers Y ou can save thr ee special numbers on your phone. Y ou can make or receive calls to or fr om special number s even when your phone is in Lock Phone status. T o add or edit a special number: 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Security Menu ” on page 51), select Others > Special #s .
Reset ting the Bro wser 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Security Menu ” on page 51), select Erase/Reset > Reset Browser . 2. Press OK (left softkey) to continue. 3. If you are certain you w ould like to reset, select Ye s .
Lost or St olen Phones T o repor t your phone missing, call T elecom Customer Ser vices on 0800 651 000. The y will be able to put a bar on your phone to disable it from being used. Y ou will be asked to load a passwor d that will need to be repeated if you f ind or recover your phone.
6. Managing Call Hist ory V iewing Hist ory Yo u ’ ll find the Call History feature v er y helpful. It is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entr ies) for calls y ou placed, accepted, or missed. Call Histor y makes redialing a number fast and easy .
Prepend to add numbers to the beginning of the phone number . (See “ Prepending a Phone Number F rom Call Histor y ” on page 58.) Copy to Personal to copy the phone number to the Push 2 T alk Personal List (appears only when Push 2 T alk mode is set to Enable and the number does not match an y stored entr y in your P er sonal List).
4. Select New Name or From Ph. Book to enter a name. New Name to create a new Contacts entry for the number . From Ph. Book to save the number to an e xisting entr y . (This step is not necessar y on the ver y first entr y in your Contacts.) 5.
7 . Using Contacts Displa ying the Contacts List From standby mode, select Contacts (right softkey). A dding a New Contacts Entry Y our phone can store up to 500 Contacts entries. Contacts can store up to a total of 700 phone numbers and each entry ’ s name can contain 32 characters.
T o erase a gr oup member: 1. Select > Contacts > Group . 2. Select the group entry you want to erase members from and press . 3. Select the member you want to er ase and press Options (right softkey) > Erase > This or All . 4. Select Ye s .
Finding Speed Dial Numbers Select > Contacts > Speed Dial #s . See “ Using Speed Dialing ” on page 25 for how to use speed dialing. Finding Gr oup Entries T o find entries designat ed as part of a gr oup: 1. Select > Contacts > Group .
Print to print the Contacts entr y ’ s data. T ip: Y ou can view the next or previous entry by pressing the navigation key right or left. A dding a Phone Number t o a Contacts Entry 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the Contacts entry you wish to add a phone number to and press .
Assigning Speed Dial Numbers With this f eature you can dial Contacts Directory entries with one key press for locations 2-9. (For details on how to make calls using speed dial numbers, see “ Using Speed Dialing ” on page 25.) T o assign a speed dial number: 1.
Assigning an Imag e t o a Contacts Entry Y ou can assign an image to a Contacts entr y . The image is display ed when the entr y calls you. T o assign an image for an entry: 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the entry for which y ou want to assign the image and press .
Secr et Contacts Entr ies Y ou can hide an entr y ’ s phone number(s) by making them secret, which r equires your lock code to edit the entry . The entr y name is still displayed, but the entry ’ s information is replaced by “ <Secret> ” .
8. P ersonal Or g aniser Using Y our Phone ’ s Calendar Use the Calendar to remind you of ev ents or impor tant calls you need to make. Y ou can sc hedule up to 200 schedules, 15 Call Alarms and 40 T o Do Items. Displaying Y our Calendar Select > Calendar .
Adding a Sc hedule to the Calendar 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the da y to which you want to add a schedule. 2. Press Options (right softke y) > Add Schedule .
Adding a Call Alar m t o the Calendar 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the da y to which you want to add a call alarm and press Options (right softke y). 2. Press the navigation key left or right to select Add Call Alarm . 3. Enter the phone number directl y or press Options (r ight softkey) for the follo wing options: From Ph.
Adding T o Do Items Y our phone can store and manage 40 T o Do items. 1. From the Calendar displa y , pr ess Options (right softke y). 2. Press the navigation key left or right to select Add T o Do .
Event Aler ts There are sev eral ways your phone alerts you of sc heduled events (Schedules and Call Alarms). By playing the assigned ringer type. By blinking the LED .
Editing an Event on the Calendar T o edit a scheduled event on the calendar , select the W eekly vie w . T o move an ev ent: 1. Highlight the event you w ould like to move and press Options (right softke y) > Move . 2. Use the navigation key to move the event to the date and time you w ould like to and press .
Event List Options While you are displa ying the day ’ s events list, press Options (right softkey) to access the following options: Add Schedule to add a schedule to the calendar . Add Call Alarm to add a call alarm to the calendar . Add T o Do to add a T o Do item to the calendar .
4. Select Ye s to erase the event(s). T ip: T o erase completed events, from the monthly view , press Options (right softkey), and then select T o Do List and follow steps 2 - 4 above. Note: The Erase function will not delete events that you have designated as “secret.
Using Y our Phone ’ s T ools Using the Alar m Clock T o set the alarm cloc k: 1. Select > T ools > Alarm Clock . Note: T o set the alarm clock in a no-service area, press OK (left softkey) in the “Set Current T ime/Date” screen. 2. Select a number and press .
Using the Stop W atch T o start the stop w atch: Select > T ools > Stop W atch . Press Start (left softkey) to start the stop watch. Press Stop (left softkey) to stop the stop watch. Press Resume (left softkey) to start the stop watch again.
4. Press Save (left softkey) to save the countdown settings. 5. Press Settings (right softkey) to set the Ringer Length , Snooze Interval , or Snooze T imes . 6. Press Done (left softkey) to save. T ip: Press the left softkey ( On or Off ) to toggle the countdown alarm on and off.

Do wnloading Thr ough the W eb Wirelessly Y our phone allows you to download imag es (screen savers), ringers, games, etc., from a W eb site. T o download a file fr om the My Content menu: 1. Select > My Content > Options (right softke y). 2. Select Get New .
T o select the settings f or the downloaded data: 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select Games or Applications . 3. Highlight the data for whic h you want to select settings and press Options (right softke y). 4. Select Settings . 5. Select an option from the follo wing and press .
Erasing the Do wnloaded Data T o erase the downloaded data: 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select a folder and pr ess . 3. Highlight a file and press Options (right softkey). 4. Select Erase . 5. Select Ye s to erase the data in the folder you select.
9. V oice Services Using V oice-Activ at ed Dialing Y ou can use a voice dial tag to automatically dial a phone number in your Contacts. Y our phone can store up to 30 voice dial tags. Note: Please set the V oice Prompt feature (see page 35) to On before using the V oice-Activated Dialing so that you can hear the voice instruction from the phone.
V oice Dial T ag Options 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select a Contacts entry for which y ou would like to review the voice dial tag and press . 2. Press Options (right softke y) > Set V oiceT ag . 3. Select an option and press . Play to play the selected v oice dial ta g.
Managing V oice/Call Memos Y ou can use your phone ’ s voice services to record meetings or lectures, or brief memos to remind you of important events, phone numbers, or grocer y list items.
Reviewing V oice/Call Memos 1. From the V oice/Call Memo menu display , select List . 2. Select a memo from the list and press . Press Options (right softke y) > Play > All to play all voice memos continuously . Press Options (right softke y) > Play > Multiple , and select your desired memos, and pr ess > Play (left softkey).
V oice/Call Memo Options There are sev eral user options available f or managing voice/call memos. T o display the voice/call memo options: 1. From the V oice/Call Memo menu display , select List . 2. Highlight a memo and press Options (right softkey).
Set ting the Recording Guar d With this f eature, you can recor d voice memos without interr uption from incoming calls. 1. From the V oice/Call Memo menu display , press Settings (right softkey) > Recording Guard . 2. Select On or Off . While recording v oice memos, your phone will display “ Phone Off.
Set ting Up Screen Call This featur e ena bles you to scr een incoming calls b y using a recorded announcement, either one that is pr e-recorded or one that you hav e recorded.
4. Press to stop recording. 5. After the 1st recording, pr ess again to star t the 2nd recording. 6. Press to stop recording. Recording a Cust omised Announcement 1. From the V oice/Call Memo menu display , select Screen Call > Announcement . 2. Highlight Custom and press Edit (right softke y) > Record .
1 0. Push 2 T alk Push 2 T alk allows you to enjoy quick, two-wa y , “ walkie-talkie- style ” communication with your friends, famil y , and co-workers. Y ou can make 1-to-1 or 1-to-many calls (up to 5 others on the same call) to any other Push 2 T alk user , an ywhere on the Networ k.
Making and Receiving a Push 2 T alk Call Displaying the Push 2 T alk List From standby mode, press to access the Push 2 T alk List. T ip: The first time you access the list, the Push 2 T alk Help message will appear . Press Y es (left softkey) and Next (left softkey) to read a brief introduction of Push 2 T alk.
3. Highlight the Contacts entr y you want to call, and press and hold to place the call and get the f loor . (Y ou will see P2T calling... and Connecting... followed by “ Y ou have floor . ” Yo u can now begin speaking.) – or – Highlight the Contacts entr y you want to call and press and release to place the call.
T o make a Push 2 T alk call to a group member , select your desired group, highlight y our desired group member , and press and hold . If one of the group members takes the f loor , y ou will see the member ’ s name and Push 2 T alk number on the display .
Missed Call Notification for Push 2 T alk Calls When an incoming Push 2 T alk Call is not answered, the Missed Call Notification is display ed on your screen. T o call the last missed Push 2 T alk Call: Simply press and hold while the Missed Call Notification is display ed.
Note: Y ou can change the volume and the speaker setting while a Push 2 T alk call is activated. V olume: Adjust the voice volume by using or by pressing the navigation key up or down (except when you are pressing and holding ). Speaker: Switch the speaker on or off by pressing .
A dding and Editing Push 2 T alk Contacts Entry Copying an Entry t o your P ersonal List or Contacts Y ou can copy an entr y to your Personal or Personal Group List, or Contacts from several diff erent sources. 1. Press to access the Push 2 T alk List.
3. Enter the first letter or the fir st fe w letters of the name. The display shows the list beginning with the letter(s) you entered. 4. Scroll through the list and press to select your desired entr y . Adding a New Contacts Entry t o Y our P ersonal List Y ou can store the total of 200 entries in the Personal List.
6. Scroll to select the Contacts entries you want to add and press or Pick (right softke y) to include the entries. 7. Press Done (left softkey) when you are finished selecting Contacts entries, then press Update (left softkey) to update your P er sonal Group List with the new group entry .
Er asing Push 2 T alk List Entr ies Erasing an Entry in Y our P ersonal List or Personal Gr oup List T o erase a Contacts entry or a gr oup entry: 1. From the Push 2 T alk List, press Go to (left softkey) > Personal List or Personal Grps. 2. Highlight the entr y you want to erase and pr ess Options (r ight softkey) > Erase .
Updating P ersonal List T o update your P ersonal list manually thr ough Push 2 T alk server: Select > Settings > Push 2 T alk > List Update . Managing Push 2 T alk Set tings Set ting Speed Dialing for Push 2 T alk Entr ies 1. Select > Contacts > Speed Dial #s .
