6 US Guide to parts and controls This manual mainly explain s operations us ing the buttons on the unit, but the same operations can also be performed using the buttons on the remote having the same or similar names.

10 US – Display A Lights up when the MP3 file contains ID3 tag information. B “TRK” lights up when a file na me is displayed. “ ” lights up when a folder name is displayed. C Indicates the type of disc or fi le that the system recognized. D Displays the current status and information (page 2 8).
11 US Getting Started Hooking up the system A Speakers The speaker connectors are color-coded with their respective speaker terminals on the unit. Front speakers (LBT-ZX99i only) Connect the speaker cords to the SPEAKER FRONT (SPEAKER A) terminals. (LBT-ZX66i only) Connect the speaker cords to the SPEAKER terminals.
12 US Tip Connect the speaker cord s to the terminals on the front speakers . Surround spea kers (LBT-ZX99i only ) Connect the speaker cords to the SPEAKER SURROUND (SPEAKER B) terminals and to the terminals on the speakers as shown in the tip above. Notes • Be sure to use only th e supplied speakers.
13 US Getting Started F PC IN L/R jacks Use an audio cord (not supplied) to connect the audio output of the computer to these jacks. You can then ou tput audio through this system. G GAME INPUT jacks GAME INPUT VI DEO jack Use a video cable (not supplied) to connect the video output of the optiona l video game player to this jack.

16 US Setting the clock 1 Press "/1 to turn on the system. 2 Press TIMER MENU. The hour indication flashes in the display. If “PLAY SET?” fla shes in the display, press V or v repeatedly to select “CLOCK SET?”, then press ENTER (or on the remote).
17 US Basic Oper ations Playing a CD/MP3 disc 1 Press FUNCTION (or FUNCTION +/– on the remote) repeatedly to select “CD”. 2 Press Z OPEN/CLOSE. 3 Load a disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray. To load additional di scs, press DISC SKIP to rotate the disc tray.

You cannot select “REP” and “ALL DISCS SHUF” at the same time. 4) A track or fi le is played back repeatedly until you stop play back. 5) Only when there is a disc in disc tray. 19 US Basic Oper ations Tips • When s witchin g to “CD” function from “TUNER” function by pressing NX , a longer time may be required to access the disc.
20 US To set CD power on Repeat the procedure above and “CD POWER ON” appears in the display. Notes • When “CD POWER OFF” is selected, disc access time i s increased. • You cannot change the CD power manage setting in Power Saving Mo de (page 27).
21 US Basic Oper ations • To use an iPod, refer to the o perating instructions of y our iPod. • Sony cannot accept responsibility in the event that data recorded to iPod is lost or damage when using an iP od with this unit. • Some iPod operations may not be performe d using buttons on the unit or remote.
22 US Using optional components 1 Connect an optional components: 2 Turn VOLUME +/– counterclockwise (or press VOLUME – on the remot e) to turn down the volume. 3 To listen to a co nnected optional components, press FUNCTION (or FUNCTION +/– on the remot e) repeatedly to select “PHONO”, “PC” or “GAM E”.
23 US Basic Oper ations You can enha nce the MP3 file sound quality during playback. 1 Press AMP MENU repeatedly to select “MP3 BOOSTER”. The last selected MP3 booster setting appears in the display. 2 Press B or b repeatedly to select the setting you want.
24 US To change the sound movement Turn the JOG to change the sound movement from one speaker to another speaker during MANUAL WAVE, MANUAL FADER and MANUAL BAL. To change the speed of sound movement Turn the JOG to cha nge the speed of the sound movement during AUTO WAVE, AUTO FADER and AUT O BAL.
25 US Basic Oper ations Selecting the speaker setting (LBT-ZX99i only) You can select the speake rs which you want the sound to be output. 1 Press X-ROUND ON/OFF repeatedly to select “X-ROUND OFF”. The X-ROUND button l ights off. 2 Press SPEAKERS.
26 US Mixing video game sound with other sound source — Game Mixing You can mix the sound from the component connected to the GAME INPUT jacks with another function such as CD, radio, computer, iPod or turntable connected to this system. 1 Select the source sound you want.
27 US Basic Oper ations 1 Press AMP MENU repeatedly to select “SPECTRUM”. The last selected spectrum appear s in the display. 2 Press B or b repeatedly to select the setting you want.
28 US Viewing information in the display You can check the playing time and remaining time of the current file or current disc. When a CD-TEXT disc or a disc with MP3 files is loaded, you can check the information stored on the disc, such as the titles.
29 US Other Operations Creating your own program —P r o g r a m P l a y You can make a program of u p to 25 steps in the order you want them to be played back. 1 Press FUNCTION (or FUNCTION +/– on the remote) repeatedly until “CD” appears in the display.
30 US Other operations Tips • The program you ma de r emains in the system’s memory even after it has been played back. Pres s NX (or N on the remote) to play back the same program ag ain.
31 US Other Operations 5 Repeat steps 1 to 4 to store other stations. You can preset up to 20 FM and 10 AM stations. 6 To call up a preset radio station, press TUNING MODE repeatedly until “PRESET” lig hts up in the display. Then, press T UNING +/– (or +/– on the remote) repeate dly to select the preset numb er you want.
32 US Singing along You can sing along with any audio source that play back on this system. 1 Turn MIC LEVEL to MIN to reduce the microphone volum e. 2 Connec t an option al microphone to MIC 1 or MIC 2 jack. Connect another optional microphone if you want to sing in duet.
33 US Other Operations 4 Set the time to start playback. Press V or v repeatedly to set the hour, then press EN TER (or on the remote). The minute indicatio n flashes in the display. Use the procedure above to set the minute. “OFF” appears and the hour indication flashes in the display.
34 US Troubleshooting Should you encounter a problem with your system, do the following: 1 Make sure the power cord and speaker cords are connected correctly and firmly. 2 Find your problem in the troubleshooting checklist below and take the indicated corrective action.
35 US Additional Inf ormation There is sever e hum or noise. • A TV or VCR is placed too close to the unit. Move the unit aw ay from the TV or VCR. • Move the unit away from the source of noise. • Connect the unit to a different wall outlet. • Install a noise filter (commercially available) to the power cord.
36 US Playback doe s not start fro m the first track. • The system is in Program Play or Shuffle Play mode. Press PLAY M ODE repeatedly until “ALL DISCS”, “1 DISC” or “ ” lights up in the display.
