8 Basi c tech niqu es for bet ter i mages Y ou can create various imag es by adju sting the exposure and t he ISO sensitivity . Exposure is the amoun t of ligh t that the ca mera w ill receive when you re lease the shutter .
9 Basic t echniqu es for bet ter ima ges Adjusting the ISO sensitivity ISO is unit of m easurem ent (sens iti vity), estimat ing ho w much light an image pickup devi ce (equi v alent to photo f ilms) recei ve s. Eve n when the exposur e is th e same, i mages dif fer depending on the ISO sensitivity .
10 Basi c tech niqu es for bet ter i mages A digita l image is ma de up of a col lection of sm all dots called pixels. If it contai ns a large number of pi xels, the pict ure becom es large, it takes up mor e memor y , and the im age is displayed in fine detail.

When the zoom is set f ully to the W side, you can select an aperture, F2 .8, F4, or F8 . When the zoom is set fully to the T side, you can select an aper ture, F5.
32 Selec ting the desir ed cam era fu nction • For details on the exposure, see page 8. • The compensation value can be set in 1/3EV increments. • If a subject is being shot in extremely bright or dar k conditions, or the fl ash is used, the exposure adjustment may not be eff ective.

34 Selec ting the desir ed cam era fu nction • AF stands for Au to Focus. • Distance setting information in the focus preset is approximate. If you point the lens up or do wn, the error increases . • When you are s hooting movies, [Multi AF] i s recomme nded as the AF works even with a certain amount of vibration.
35 Advanced operat ions Using th e Album When shoo ting image s during display ed on the screen , those minimi zed copies of t he origin al im ages can be sa ved in t he Alb um (page 7 2). Ev en if images are de leted from the intern al memory or th e “Memory Stic k Duo”, you can stil l vie w the minimiz ed images stored in the Alb um.

41 Advanced operat ions Paint ing on s till imag es Y ou can paint or put stamps on still ima ges and save them separa tely . Use the paint pen (supplie d) for this oper ation . • Y ou cannot pa int or put stamps on Mul ti Burst ima ges, movies, or ima ges in the Album.

If you a ttempt to copy image files using a battery pack with littl e remaining cha rge, the battery pack may run out, causing copying to fail or possibly corrupting t he data.
