7 Playing a VIDEO CD Y ou can play back a VIDEO CD, using the supplied A C po wer adaptor . Y ou can also use rechargeable batteries and alkaline batteries. (See “Connecting a po wer source” on pages 27 – 29.) T o pr oduce color pictures normally , you need to set the color system properly according to the connected TV .
8 Notes The playback picture may be distorted when: – playing back a P AL system VIDEO CD on an NTSC system TV with the NTSC/P AL switch of this player set to NTSC. – playing back an NTSC system VIDEO CD on a P AL system TV with the NTSC/P AL switch of this player set to P AL.

10 Playing an audio CD Y ou can also use rechargeable batteries, alkaline batteries and a car battery . (See “Connecting a power source” on pages 27 - 29.) Note When playing back an audio CD using the AC power adaptor , it takes a while until the sound is heard.

12 B Playing VIDEO CDs in V arious Modes Playing VIDEO CDs using the wireless remote contr ol Use the supplied wireless remote control to play VIDEO CDs. Y ou can also play , stop playback, search forward or backw ard using the buttons on the main unit.

Y ou can select either the left or the right channel and hear the sound of the selected channel.

16 Playing VIDEO CDs repeatedly (Repeat Play) Y ou can play a whole VIDEO CD or a single track repeatedly . T o repeat all the tracks on a VIDEO CD 1 Set the PBC mode to “PBC OFF”. (See “Playing VIDEO CDs with PBC functions” on page 15). 2 While playing a VIDEO CD, press REPEA T/ENTER repeatedly until “REP ALL” appears on the TV screen.
17 Connecting to other video equipment You can record a VIDEO CD on a video tape. Refer to the instruction manual supplied with other equipment for details. Before making connections, turn off each equipment. Note Before you play a disc, turn down the volume of the connected equipment so as not to damage the speakers.
18 Locating a specific track by observing the TV screen (Sear ch) While playing a VIDEO CD, you can quickly locate any track or a specific point in a track by observing the TV screen.
19 2 Press the number buttons to select the video index number you want. The selected video index number or the scene number appears on the TV screen. T o select a number 10 or more , press ≥ 10 first, then the cor responding number buttons.
20 Locating a specific point directly T o locate a specific point by observing nine scenes in the current track at one time (T rack Digest Search) Y ou can locate a specific point directly by observing nine scenes in the current track at one time. 1 While playing a VIDEO CD, press PLA Y MODE until “DIGEST” appears on the TV screen.
21 B Playing audio CDs in various modes Playing tracks repeatedly (Repeat Play) Y ou can play tracks repeatedly in normal, single, PGM or shuffle play modes.
22 Playing tracks in random order (Shuf fle Play) Y ou can play the tracks in an audio CD in random order . The following oper ations can be done with the buttons on the main unit or the supplied wireless remote control. During play , press PLA Y MODE repeatedly until “SHUF” appears.
23 T o select an item n umber 10 or more using the wireless remote control, press ≥ 10 first, then the corresponding number buttons. Examples: For 12: ≥ 10, then 1 and 2 For 24: ≥ 10, then 2 and 4 3 Repeat step 2 to program the remaining tracks.
24 Flashes when the volume is turned up beyond a certain level. T o lock the buttons (HOLD) Y ou can lock the controls on your VIDEO CD player to prev ent accidental button presses. Slide HOLD in the direction of the arrow . When you press any b utton, “Hold” appears in the display and you cannot operate the player .
25 Connecting a stereo system Y ou can listen to CDs through a stereo system and record CDs on a cassette tape. For details, see the instruction manual that comes with the connected device. Be sure to turn off all connected de vices before making connections.
26 Using your VIDEO CD player in a car (audio only) Y ou can listen to a CD in a car by connecting your CD player to the car cassette deck. Y ou cannot use the car mount plate for this VIDEO CD player . When you use your VIDEO CD player in a car , install it securely in a location that does not interfere with your driving.
27 Y ou can use the following po wer sources: • Recharg eable batteries • A C power ada ptor (see “Playing a VIDEO CD” on page 7) • LR6 (size AA) alkaline batteries (battery case) For the battery life and char ging time of the rechargeable batteries, see “Specif ica tions.
28 Using the rechargeable batteries T o remove the rechargeable batteries Remove the batteries as illustra ted below . When to charge the rechargeable batteries Y ou can check the remaining power of the batteries in the display . Battery power is full.
29 Using dr y batteries Use only the following dry batter y type for your VIDEO CD player: • LR6 (size AA) alkaline batteries Note Be sure to remove the A C po wer adaptor when using the dry batteries. 1 Open the battery compartment lid. 2 Insert two LR6 (size AA) batteries by matching 3 to the diagram in the battery compartment.
30 Precautions On safety • Should any solid objects or liquid f all into the VIDEO CD player , unplug it and ha ve it checked by qualified per sonnel before operating it any further . • Do not put any for eign objects in the DC IN 4.5 V (external po wer input) jack.
