26 Basic O perations Using th e mode dial Set the mod e dial to the de sired func tion. *Y ou can select various setting using the menu. 34 Shootin g in the da rk (Night Shot) (DSC- H9 only) The Night Shot function lets you shoo t subjects in the dark pla ces without usi ng the flash suc h as cam p scene s at n ight or noct urnal p lants a nd anima ls. Note th at imag es reco rded u sing th e Night Shot function will become greenish.
35 Bas ic Oper ati ons Using the whee l di al The whee l dial is used to change the set ting v alues when sh ooting with the ma nual ad justmen t modes (shutte r speed priorit y mode, apertu re priorit y mode, manua l exposure mod e), ISO sen sitivity adju stm ent, the f ocus met hod adju stme nt o r the EV adj ustm ent .
36 Shootin g with manu al adj ustmen t The came ra au tomatic ally ad justs t h e fo cus and the e xposure, h owe ver , you ca n manu ally adjust th ese sett ings. 37 Bas ic Oper ati ons Shoo ting w ith manua l ad justme nt 3 Sh oot the imag e. T o can cel Pr ogram Sh ift, t urn the wheel dial t o retu rn the indica tion from P * to P . • Y ou cannot shift the aperture value and shutter speed combination when the shutter button is pressed halfway down.
38 Shooti ng wi th manu al adjus tment • If the shutter speed is set at 1/3 second or slower , the NR slow shutter function acti vates automatically to reduce the picture noise and appears.

42 Shooti ng wi th manu al adjus tment T o set the Flexible S pot AF 1 Select the AF range finder frame indicator, then select (Flexible Spot AF). The co lor of t he AF rang e fi nder frame changes from white to yell ow . 2 Move the AF range f inder frame to the point you want to focus on with v / V / b / B on the cont rol bu tton, then press z .
