10 Notes on us ing yo ur c amer a Shooting proc edure • This camera has 2 modes for monitoring subjects: the LCD screen mode using the LCD screen, and the viewfinder mode using the viewfinder. • The recorded image may be different from the image you monitored before recording.
11 Notes on using your camera If the temperature reaches above a certain level, the mark is indicated on the screen and the camera is turned off automatically. If the power is turned off, leave the camera for 10 minutes o r longer to allow the temperature inside the camera to decrease to a safe level.

19 Preparing the camera Charg ing the ba tter y pack When us ing the camera for th e firs t tim e, be s ure to charge the NP- FM500H “InfoL ITHIUM ” batte ry pac k (supp lied). The “In foLITHIU M” batt ery pack ca n be charged e ven when it has not been f ull y dep leted .
20 Charging the battery pack Note s • The charging time d iffers depending on the remaini ng capacity of the battery pa ck or charging conditions. • We recommend charging the battery pack in an ambient temperature of between 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F) .

43 Using the flash Using the shooting functions (Flash O ff) Does not fire even the built-in flash pops up. • You cannot se lect this item when the mode dial is set to P, A, S, or M. However, the flash will no t be fired i f it is not pulled up. (Autoflash) Fires if it is dark or against l ight.

Based on the exposur e acquire d by the aut omatic ex posure, you can perform exposure compensa tion. Y ou can make t he entire image brighter by shifting to the + side.

99 Selecting the shooting mode Shooting (Advanced operations) • Press the button when you shoot with the flash. However, when using the flash, if you close the aperture (a larger F-number ) by making the shutter speed slower, the light of the flash will not reach distant subjects.
100 Selecting the shooting mode Note s • Th e (Camera s hake warning) indicator i s not indicated in manual e xposure mode. • When the mode dial is set to M, the ISO setting [ AUTO] is set to [100]. In M mode, the ISO sett ing [AUTO] is not available.
