18 LAN settings The LAN tab gives you the opportun ity to chan ge t he IP settin gs of the WLR- 4003 . Click <Apply> at the bottom of thi s screen to save any changes. IP address 19 2.168.0 .1. It i s the rout e r‟s LAN IP add ress (Y our LAN clients default gateway IP address).
19 Lease Time Forever . In the L ease Time setting you can specify th e time peri od that the D HCP lends an IP address t o your LA N cl ients. The DHCP will change your LA N client ‟ s IP add ress when thi s time threshol d period is reached.
20 Device Status View the Broadband r outer ‟ s current configu ration settings. Device St atus displays the configu ration settings y ou‟ve configured in the Wi zard / Basic Settings / Wi reless Settings secti on.
21 Internet Status This page displays whether the W AN port is connected to a Cable/DSL connection. It also di splays the route r‟s WAN IP address, Subnet M ask, and ISP Gateway a s well as MAC address, th e Pri mary DNS. Press th e Renew button t o renew your WAN IP address.
22 DHCP Client St atus This pag e shows al l DHCP cli ents (LAN PCs) cu rrentl y connected t o your network. The tabl e shows the a ssig ned IP address, MAC add ress and e xpiration time for each DHCP l eased client. Use t he Refresh button to update the a vail able informati on.
23 WL R- 4003 Log View the oper ation l og. This page shows t he cu rrent sy stem l og o f th e Broadband router . It di splays any event occurred a fter sy stem start up.
24 Statistics Shows the counters of packets sent and recei ved on W AN, LAN & WLAN..
25 11 Configurati on Wizard Click Wizard to configure the router . Th e Set up wizard will now be di splayed; check that the modem is connect ed and click Next.
26 Depending on the chosen p rovider , you may n eed to enter yo ur user name and password, MAC ad dress or hostname i n the followin g window . After you have entered the correct i nformation, cli ck Nex t . Click APPLY to complete the con figuration.
27 12 Wireles s Settings Y ou can set parameters t hat are used for th e wire less stat ions to conne ct to thi s router . Th e parameters i nclude Mode, ESSID, Ch annel Numb er an d Associ ated Client. Wireless Funct ion Enable or Disabl e Wireless functi on here.
28 Basic Settings Mode All ows yo u to set AP o r WDS mode. Band Allows you to se t the AP fixed at 802.1 1b or 80 2.11g m ode. Y ou c an also sel ect B+G mod e to al low 8021 1b and 80 2.11g cl ients at the same time. Enable SSID # Allows you to enab le up to four SSIDs for thi s router .
29 Advanced Setti ngs This t ab all ows you to s et the advanced wi reless options. The opti ons i nclud ed are Authent ication T ype, Fragment Thresh old, RTS Threshold , Beacon Interval, an d Preamble T ype. Y ou sh ould not chang e th ese p arameters unless you know what effect th e changes wi ll have on the router .
30 Beacon Interv al is th e in terv al of time t hat this wi reless router broad casts a beacon. A Beacon i s used to synchr onize the wirel ess network. Data Rat e The “Data Rate” is th e rate th at thi s access p oint use s to transmi t data packets.
31 Security This Access Point provides compl ete wireles s LAN securi ty functi ons, incl uded are WEP , IEEE 802.11x, IEEE 802.11x with WEP , WPA w i th pre-shared key and WPA wit h RADIUS. Wi th these securi ty fun ctions, you can prevent your wireless LAN f rom ill egal access.
32 Disable When you choose to d isa ble encrypti on, i t is very insecure to operate the router . Enable 802.1x A uth IEEE 802.1 x i s an auth entication protocol. Every user must use a valid account to logi n to this Access Point before accessi ng t he wirel ess LAN.
33 WEP When you sel ect 64-bi t or 12 8-bi t WEP key , you have to enter WEP keys to encrypt data. Y ou can generate the key b y yours el f and enter it . Y ou can enter four W EP keys an d sel ect one of them as a d efault key . Then t he router can receive any packets encrypted by one of the four keys.
34 Click <Ap ply> at the bottom of the sc reen to save the above confi gurations. Y ou can n ow config ure oth er s ections by choos ing Conti nue, o r choose Appl y to apply th e settings and reboot the d evice. WPA Pre-shared Key Wi -Fi Protected Access ( WPA) is an advanced security stan dard.

39 13 Fire w all Settings The Broadband rout er provides extensive firewall protection by restri cti ng connection parameters, thus limiting the risk of hacker attac ks, and defending against a wide array of common Internet attacks.
40 DMZ If you have a client PC th at cannot run an Internet app licati on (e.g. Game s) properly from behind the NA T fi rewall, then you can open up the fi rewall restricti ons to unrestricted two-way Internet access by definin g a DMZ Host.
41 Denial of Servi ce (DoS) The Broadband route r's fi rewall can block com mon hacker attack s, in cluding Denial of Servi ce, Ping of Death, Port Scan and Sync Flood.
42 Access Y ou can restrict users from accessing certai n Internet appli cations/services (e.g. Internet w ebsites, email, F TP etc.), Acc ess Control allows u sers to de fine the t raffic type p ermitted in your LA N. Y ou can control whi ch PC client can have access to these servi ces.

48 Virtual Server Use the Virtual Server function when you want different servers/clients i n your LAN to handl e different servi ce/Internet appli cation type (e.g. Email, FTP , W eb server etc.) from th e Internet. 51 Popular applications Thi s section lists the more popul ar appli cations that require mul tiple conn ections. Sel ect an ap plication from the Po pular Applicati ons se lection. Once you have se l ected an applicati on, select a location (1-10) in the Copy to sel ection box and then cli ck the Copy to button.

64 Backup Setting s The Backup screen all ows you to save ( Backup) the r outer‟s current configuration setti ngs. When you save the confi guration setting (Back up) you can re-l oad the saved configuration i nto the r outer th rough th e Restore selection.
