4 Net w ork + System Requi rement s T o begin usin g th e WL - 357, make sure you mee t the fo llowing a s minimum requirements: • PC/Notebook. • Operating System – Microsoft Windows XP/ 2000/VIST A • Wi-Fi card/USB client (8 02.11 b/g/n). • External xDS L (ADSL) or Cable mo dem with an Et hernet port ( RJ-45), or a 3G USB modem.
6 Setup LAN, W AN The WL -357 has one Ether net port that d oubles as a W A N (Inter net) por t and a LAN port. When no 3G USB client is in serted in th e USB port, the port functio ns as W AN. When a 3G USB client is inserted in t he USB port, t he port functions a s LAN.

8 Bringing up t he WL-357 Connect the sup plied power-adapter to the po wer inlet port and connect it to a wal l outl et. The WL -357 a utomatica lly ente rs t he self-test p hase. During self -test pha se, the Power L ED will be lit con tinuously to indicate th at this product is in normal ope ration.

The System st atus section all ows you to mon itor t he current status of your router: the UP time, hardware informat ion, serial n umber as well as firmware version informat ion is d isplayed here.
L A N settin gs The LAN tab gives you the opp ortunity to chang e the IP s ettings of th e WL -357. Click <App ly> at the b ottom of this scr een to save any change s. IP add ress 192. 168.0.1. It is the router ’ s L AN IP address (Y our LAN cli ents default gateway IP address).
Lease Time For ever . I n the L ease Time setting y ou ca n specify the t ime per iod that the DHC P lends an IP address to your LA N clients. The DH CP will change your LAN client’s IP addr ess when this t ime thr eshold period is reached.
Device S t atus View the B roadban d router’s current config uration settings. Devi ce Status displays t he configuration sett ings you’ve co nfigured in th e Wizar d / Ba sic Settings / W ireless Sett ings section.
Internet St atus This pag e disp lays whether th e WAN port is connected t o a Cable/DSL or 3G connection. It also displays the r outer’s WAN IP address, S ubnet Mask , and ISP Gateway a s w ell as M AC address, the Pr imary DN S. Press Rene w button to renew your WAN IP address.
DHCP Client S t atus DHCP This page shows a ll DHCP c lients ( LAN P Cs) cu rrently connected t o your network. The table show s t he assi gned IP address, MAC addre ss an d expiration time for ea ch DHCP leased c lient. Use the R efresh button t o update th e av ailable information.
WL-357 Log View the operation lo g of the W L-35 7 . This page shows t he current syst em log of th e Broadband router . It displays a ny even t occurr ed aft er system s tart up.

10 Configuration W izard Click Wiz ard to c onfig ure the ro uter . The S etup w izard wi ll now be displayed; check that t he modem is connected a nd click N ext. Select your cou ntry from the Cou ntry list. Se lect your internet provider . Alternatively you ca n select “Mob ile 3G” to set t he WL -357 up for a 3G/ UMTS connection.
Click APPLY to compl ete the confi guration..
11 Wireless Set tings Y ou ca n s et parameters that a re used for the wireless stat ions to connect to t his router . Th e parameters include Mo de, ESSID, C hannel Number and Assoc iated Client. Wireless Fun ction Enable or D isable Wirele ss function h ere.
Basic Settings Mode Allows you to set t he AP to AP , Station, Br idge or WDS mode. Band Allows you to set the AP fixed at 802.1 1b or 802.11g mode. Y ou can also select B +G m ode t o allo w 80211b and 802.11g c lients at t he sam e time. SSID This is th e na me of the wireless signal which is broadcasted .
A dvanced Settings This tab allows you to set the adv anced wir eless options. The option s included are Authe ntication T ype, Fragment Thr eshold, R TS Threshold, B eacon Inter val, and Preamble T ype. Y ou should not cha nge these parameters unless you know what effect the chang es will have on the rout er .
N Data R ate The “Data Rate” is the rate that t his access poi nt uses to transmit data packets for N compliant wirel ess n odes. H ighest to lowest data rate can be fixed.
Security This Acc ess Point provides com plete w ireless LAN sec urity funct ions, included are WEP , IEEE 802. 11x, I EEE 802.11x w ith W EP , WPA w ith pre-shared key and WPA with RADIUS. With th ese s ecurity funct ions, you ca n prevent y our w ireless LAN from illegal a ccess.
WEP When you sel ect 64-b it or 12 8-bit WEP key , you have to e nter W EP keys to encrypt data . Y ou ca n generate th e key by yourself an d e nter it. Y ou can e nter four WEP keys and se lect one of them as a defa ult key . Then the router can receive any packets encr ypted by one of the four keys.
WP A Pre-shared Key Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) i s an advanced security sta ndard. Y o u can us e a pre-shared key to authenticate wirel ess stations and encrypt data during communicat ion. It uses TKIP or CCMP (AES) to chan ge t he encrypt ion key frequently .
A CL This wireles s router supports MAC A ddress Contr ol, which pr events unauthor ized clients from ac cessing your wireless n etwork. Enabl e wireless acces s cont rol Enables the w ireless access .
WPS Wi-Fi Prot ected Setup (WPS) is the s imples t way to establ ish a connecti on between the w ireless c lients and t he w ireless router . Y ou d on’ t have to select the encryptio n mode a nd f ill in a long encryption passp hr ase every time when you try to setup a w ireless connect ion.
WPS Curren t Status If the wirel ess secur ity (encry ption) function of this wireless router is properly set, you’ll se e a ‘Con figured’ mes sage her e. O therwise, you’ll see ‘UnConf igured’ . Self P in Cod e This is the WPS PIN code of the wireless r outer .
12 Firewall Settings The Broadba nd router pr ovides extensive firewall pr otection by restr icting connection parameters, thus lim iting t he r isk of hacker attac ks, a nd defending against a w ide array of common I nternet attacks.
DMZ If you have a c lient PC that cannot r un an Internet application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the N A T fire wall, t hen y ou can open up the fir ewall restrictions to unrestri cted two-way I nternet access by defining a DMZ Host.
Denial of Service (DoS) The Broadband router's firewall can b lock common hacker attacks, including Denial of S ervice, Ping of D eath, P ort S can and S ync Flood.
A ccess Y ou can restr ict users f rom access ing certain I nternet applicatio ns/services ( e.g. Internet webs ites, email, FTP et c.). Acces s C ontrol allows users to define the traffic ty pe perm itted in your LAN . Y ou can contr ol which PC c lient can have access to th ese services.
Filter client PC by M AC Check “Enab le MAC Filter ing” to enabl e MAC Filtering. Add PC F ill in “Client PC MAC Address ” an d “C omment ” o f the PC that is a llowed to acces s the Internet, and the n click “ Ad d” .
URL block Y ou can block acce ss to some W eb sit es from particular PCs by enterin g a full URL address or j ust keywords of the W eb site. Enabl e URL Blocking E nable/disab le URL Block ing. Add U RL Keyword Fill in “UR L/K eyword” a nd then clic k “ Add” .
13 Advanced Sett ings Network A ddress T ranslation ( NA T) allows m ultiple users a t your local sit e to access the Inter net throu gh a s ingle Public IP Address or mult iple Public IP Addresses.
Port Ran ge The range of ports to be forward to th e private IP . Co mment descriptio n of this setting. Add Port Forwarding Fill in th e "Private IP", “T ype” , “Port Range” a nd "Comment" o f the settin g to b e added and then click "Add".
Virtual Server Use the V irtual Server function when you w ant different servers/clie nts in your LAN t o han dle dif ferent service/Internet applica tion type ( e.g. Email, FTP , Web server etc.) fr om th e In ter net. C omputers use numbers ca lled port numbers t o recognize a par ticular service/Int ernet application t ype.

14 T OOLBOX Setti ngs Password change opt ions Y ou can c hange t he password required to l og in to th e broadband r outer's system web-based manageme nt. B y default, the password is: a dmin. Passwor ds can contain 0 to 12 alphanum eric characters, a nd are case sensit ive.
T ime Zone The Time Zone allows your r outer to base its time on the settings configured here, which w ill affect f unctions s uch as Log e ntries and Fir ewall settings. Set Ti me Zone S elec t the time zone of t he country you are current ly in. The router will set its time based on your selection.
Remote Managem ent The remote managem ent funct ion allows you to des ignate a host in the I nternet the ability to conf igure the Br oadband router from a r emote sit e.
Firmware Upgrade This page al lows you to u pgrade the router ’ s firmware. Firmware Upgrad e T his to ol a llows you t o upgrade t he B roadband router’s system firmware.
Backup Settings The Backup scr een allows you to save (B ackup) the r outer’s curre nt configuration settings. W hen you save th e co nfiguration setti ng (Ba ckup) you can r e-load the saved conf iguration i nto the router throug h the Restore se lection.
Reset Y ou can reset th e router ’s syst em s hould any problem exist. The reset function essentia lly re-boots your router’s system. Click < App ly > at the b ottom of the scr een to s ave the above configurations.
DDNS DDNS allows you t o m ap the s tatic domai n n ame to a dy namic IP ad dress. Y ou must get an ac count, p assw ord and your sta tic domain nam e from the DDN S service providers. This router s upports DynDNS, TZO and ot her c ommon DDNS service pr oviders.
