9 CONNECTING THE VSSI-PRO VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE INTRODUCTION The VSSI-Pro is designed for controlling loss and fraud at the A TM terminal.
10 VSSI-PRO VIDEO CONNECTION The video input to the VSSI-Pro is a standard BNC connector terminated at 75 ohm. After completing the interface inst allation, connect the video input source to the video input BNC on the rear of the VSSI-Pro. The BNC video output connect s to the video system (DVR, VCR, Quad, switcher , Multiplexer , or monitor).

12 CONNECTING THE VSSI-PRO VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE EXTERNAL ALARM OUTPUT Y ou will be able to tie your exceptions to one open collector hard alarm output. Y ou have to physically add wires to the DB-9 connector which plugs into the rear of the VSSI-Pro.
13 PROGRAMMING THE VSSI-PRO A FEW WORDS ABOUT PROGRAMMING The VSSI-Pro is programmed by pressing and releasing specific combinations of the four front panel push-buttons. V i a these four simple buttons, all of the powerful programming features of the VSSI-Pro are available to you.

15 PROGRAMMING THE VSSI-PRO PROGRAMMING MENUS T o access the main-menu of the VSSI-Pro, simultaneously hold down the “Down” and “Up” buttons, press and release the “Reset” button, and then release the “Down” and “Up” buttons. This will take you to the main programming menu.

21 MORE ON TIME/DA TE LOCKING If the time/date locking is turned on, the VSSI-Pro will monitor the incoming data string. If it finds a valid time and date in one or two consecutive lines, it will set the clock to whatever time/date it finds.
22 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE NOTE " " " " " Remember , enabling the titler will limit text insertions to 10 lines maximum, and with the clock on then 9 maximum. EXIT Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “EXIT” and press “Set” to return to the previous menu.
23 PROGRAMMING THE VSSI-PRO VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE DISPLA Y LINES Choices: 1 through 1 1 Y ou have the choice of how many lines of text to display on-screen for register transactions. The choices are 1 through 1 1. Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “DISPLA Y LINES” and press “Set”.
24 DISPLA Y Choices: ON, OFF Y ou have the choice to globally turn on or off the complete VSSI-Pro text insertion function. This means no data will be visible on the monitor if you select DISPLA Y “OFF”.
25 RX BAUDRA TE Choices: AUTO, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 14.4K, 19.2K, 28.8K, 38.4K. The default is 2400. Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “RX BAUDRA TE” and press “Set”. The cursor will start flashing.
26 PORT A : B Again, there is probably no need for you to access this menu as it should be used for testing purposes only . Y ou should rely on the setting chosen in A TM SELECT , but we will provide a brief overview of this menu. Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “PORT A : B” and press “Set”.

28 EXIT Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “EXIT” and press “Set” to return to the previous menu. EXCEPTION REPORT The Exception Report gives you the option to assig.
29 PRINTER or DVR OUTPUT There may be situations where you do not want tellers or other employees to know what triggers an exception. In this case, the VSSI-Pro provides a seperate output that will send data to a remotely located serial printer .

33 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE PROGRAMMING THE VSSI-PRO OUTPUT EXCEPTIONS This selection allows you to have the buffered exceptions sent out for printing. This is a global setting for all exceptions, but you also need to turn on the output for each independent exception.
34 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE PROGRAMMING THE VSSI-PRO EXCEPTION STRING The VSSI-Pro compares the data that is printed to video to the dat a entered in the Exception S tring. The Exception S tring can also be used without a defined range. An example of this would be to assign the word “DEPOSIT” as an exception.
35 NEGA TIVE EXCEPTIONS Y ou can remove unwanted text from the screen using your VSSI-Pro. The VSSI-Pro displays data in a text block 9 lines by 20 characters wide for a total of 180 characters.

40 PORT 1 TEST Port 1 is the serial data from pins 2 & 3 of the DB-9 which send dat a from the VSSI-Pro to a printer . Sending and receiving data performance can be analyzed under the PORT 1 TEST sub-menu. Press the “Up” or “Down” button to move the cursor to “PORT 1 TEST” and press “Set”.

42 Both Ports A & B examine data from the A TM Interface. For troubleshooting purposes you may at some point need to do a data dump. Use this sub-menu to instigate the procedure, but first you have to make the proper connections and run preliminary tests before the data dump can occur .

LOGO This demo displays the A VE logo cycling through several sizes.T o access this demonstration, place the arrow in front of LOGO and press and release “Set”.
46 DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD SETUP USING VSSI-PRO TO VSSI-PRO T o insure that the DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD process is accomplished, you need to access the programming menus for both VSSI-Pros, so each VSSI-Pro needs a video input and a monitor .
47 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE T o proceed with the DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD SETUP , we will configure the UNPROGRAMMED VSSI-Pro first. From the main-menu, pres s “Up” or “Down” to move the cursor to “DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD SETUP” on the menu on the right side of the screen.

49 PERFORMING A DA T A DUMP 1. Make the proper connections as shown. 2. Make sure the PORT 1 communication settings are the same as the computer ’s settings. 3. Run a PORT A receiving test (access POR T A submenu in TEST/DEMO of the main programming menu) to make sure data is being received.
50 PROBLEM SOL VING GUIDE This section contains a Problem Solving Guide and additional information regarding A VE's interfaces, cables, tips, and special applications. No data on screen: 1. Press the reset button on the front panel. 2. Incorrect protocol selected in the A TM SELECT Menu.
51 MASTER RESET THE VSSI-PRO Simultaneously press and hold down the “Down”, “Up” and “Set” buttons. While holding these three buttons down, press and release the “Reset” button and then release the other three. Our copyright notice will appear and then disappear and the message “SET UP” will appear .
52 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE FREQUENTL Y ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING A TM INTERF ACING My customer is changing A TMs; will the VSSI-Pro they have work on the new A TM? This is a tricky one. There may be other versions of sof tware needed to work with different A TM formats.
53 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE RS-485 NETWORKER The RS-485 Networker is designed to convert the RS-232 serial port output of the VSSI-Pro to be a poll/select network. This allows all the transaction data to be collected by one computer for up to 64 VSSI-Pros.
54 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE WINDOWS TILE HORIZONT AL Figure 1F: Window Tile Horizontal The simple to install and use PC Software allows up to 64 VSSI-Pro A TM Interfaces to be configured on an RS-485 network and report all the transaction data back to a single monitoring computer .
55 HARD ALARM OUTPUT The Alarm Output provides one open collector transistor alarm output to trigger alarming devices. Upon an Exception, a VSSI-Pro can be programmed to trigger a VCR to go to its fastest record time, have a Quad go full screen, home a switcher , trigger a preprogrammed PTZ, or provide visual or audible alarms.
56 VSSI-Pro VIDEO SERIAL A TM INTERF ACE T riport and Adapter Cable T riports are typically used to passively t ap data from a serial device. A T riport has three connectors, either 2DB-25's back to back or 2DB-9's and an additional DB-9 male which connects to the VSSI-Pro.
