Key Features 1. Earpiece lets y ou hear the caller and automated prompts. 2. Signal Strength Indicator repr esents the signal strength by displaying bars.
15. Keypad lets you enter numbers, letter s, and characters, and navigate within menus. Press and hold ke ys 2-9 f or speed dialing. 16. END/POWER Key lets you turn the phone on/of f, end a call, or return to standby mode. While in the main menu, it returns the phone to standby mode and cancels your input.
V iewing the Display Screen This list identifies the symbols y ou’ ll see on your displa y screen. shows y our cur rent signal strength. The more lines you hav e, the stronger y our signal. means your phone cannot f ind a signal. indicates the call is on hold.
indicates your access to a secur e site. shows the level of y our batter y c har g e. The more b lack you see, the more pow er you hav e left. (The icon is animated while the batter y is charging.) indicates your batter y is charging in “P ower Off ” state.
T urning Y our Phone ON and OFF T urning Y our Phone ON Press . Once your phone is ON , it displa ys “Looking for service... ” which indicates that y our phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone f inds a signal, it automatically enter s standby mode.
Using the Battery Installing the Battery 1. Insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone at a 45-degr ee angle, making sure to line up the gold contacts.
Charging the Battery Y our phone comes with a rec hargeable batter y . Y ou should charg e the batter y as soon as possible so y ou can begin using your phone.
Displaying Y our Phone Number 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Contacts . 3. Select My Phone# . T ip: From the My Phone# screen, you can send a business card (owner information) using Bluetooth. Press (right softkey) and follow the instructions.
Making Calls T o place a call using your k e ypad: 1. Make sure y our phone is on. 2. Enter a phone number from standby mode. (If you make a mistake while dialing, press to er ase one dig it at a time. Press and hold to er ase the entire number .) 3. Press or .
Dialing Options Dialing options are displa yed when y ou press (right softkey) after enter ing number s in standb y mode. Abbrev . Dial to dial the phone number in your Contacts list that ends with the digits you enter ed. (See “ Using Ab breviated Dialing ” on page 23.
T o answer an incoming call with the flip closed: 1. Make sure y our phone is on. (If y our phone is of f, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. When your phone rings or vibrates, pr ess and hold the Side V olume key ( ) up or down on the left side of the phone.
Setting Answer on Hold This f eature allows you to hold an incoming call when y ou cannot ans wer immediately . T o set Answer on Hold: 1. When you r eceive an incoming call, press (right softkey). 2. Select Answer on Hold . (The caller hears a messa ge while waiting f or you to ans wer .
Using the Speakerphone The speakerphone f eature lets you hear audio through the speaker and talk without holding the phone. When the speakerphone is activated, use the Side V olume ke y or press the navigation key up or down to adjust the volume. T o tur n the speak er phone on dur ing a call: Press .
Adjusting V olume During a Conversation Whether you need to hear mor e or less of a conversation, adjust the Side V olume key or press the navigation key up or down during a call. Muting a Call T o mute a call: Press (right softkey), select Mute .
Calling Emergency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 911 (dial and press ), even if y our phone is locked or your account is r estr icted. Once the dial is made, you will enter Emerg ency mode. Press (r ight softkey), select an option. Speaker On to activate speakerphone mode.
In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays men u options b y pressing (right softke y). Flash to ans wer an incoming call while putting the current call in Call W aiting or connect a third party f or a Three-W ay Call. Mute to mute y our phone ’ s microphone.
T ransfer Audio The transf er audio function lets you s witch the call from y our phone to a hands-free device without disconnecting the call. T o transf er audio dur ing a call: Press repeatedl y to switc h between differ ent audio modes. – or – 1.
Saving a Phone Number Y our phone can store up to sev en phone number s in each of 500 Contact entries with up to 700 total number s. Each entry ’ s name can contain 32 char acter s. Y our phone automaticall y sor ts the Contacts alphabetically . 1.
Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With Pauses Y ou can dial or sav e phone number s with pauses for use with automated systems, such as v oicemail or credit card billing numbers. There ar e two types of pauses availab le on your phone: Hard Pause sends the ne xt set of number s when you press .
Dialing From the Contacts Directory 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Contacts . 3. Select Find/Add Entry . Shortcut: Press the navigation key right to list entries. 4. Use your na vigation ke y to scroll through the Contacts list, select one of the appropriate entr ies and press .
Using Abbreviated Dialing Ab breviated Dialing is similar to speed dialing. Y ou can use either of the f ollowing abbreviated dialing f eatures. Ph. Book Match allows you to r etr ieve an y desired number sav ed in your Contacts by enter ing only the last three to six digits of the number , and dials the r etr ie ved n umber .
T o place a call using Prepend Abbr eviated Dialing: 1. Enter the last f our or five digits of your desir ed number . 2. Press or . Note: When Prepend is set to Enable and Ph. Book Match is set to Disable , you can display the 10-digit number (including the predefined prepend number) by entering the last four or five digits of the number .
Selecting a Character Input Mode Y our phone provides conv enient ways to enter w ords, letters, punctuation, and numbers whene ver y ou are prompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding a Contacts entr y or when sending te xt, picture messages).
Entering Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T e xt Input lets you enter te xt in y our phone b y pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 Word mode when entering te xt, see “ Selecting a Character Input Mode ” on pag e 25.
Customizing the T9 Settings 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Others . 4. Select T ext Entry . 5. Select T9 Settings . 6. Select your desir ed option. Predict.T ext Mode to allow T9 te xt input to recognize w ords you ha ve added to the T9 database.
Entering Characters Using the Keypad T o enter c haracter s using the ke ypad, select the Alphabet mode (see “ Selecting a Character Input Mode ” on page 25). Press the corresponding ke y until the desired c haracter appear s. By default, the f ir st letter of a word is capitalized and f ollowing letter s are low ercase.

Display Settings Changing the Greeting T o display or c hange y our custom gr eeting: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Display . 4. Select Greeting . 5. Changing the Display Screen Y our new phone offers animation for what y ou see on the display scr een when in Standb y mode, Outgoing Calls or Service Searc h. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Display . 4. Select Animation .
Changing the Clock/Calendar Display for Standby Mode Select from among a variety of items to be display ed in standby mode. T o set the clock/calendar displa y for standb y mode: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Display .
Changing the Font Size 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Display . 4. Select Others . 5. Select Font Size . View to select Messaging or Browser . Input to select Phone#s , Messaging or Others . 6. Select your desir ed font size.
Sleep Mode This f eature helps conser ve your battery power by restricting the display . 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Display . 4. Select Others . 5. Select Sleep Mode . 6. Select Main LCD or Sub LCD . 7. Select your desir ed option.
Location Settings Location Services This cell phone is Assisted GPS Ready f or ser vices such as: Finder Services Seek & Find TM Business T racking Services e9-1-1 This cell phone is not intended to operate as a GPS satellite receiv er .
Settings The settings allow y ou to tur n the Assisted GPS chipset in the cell phone to “ Allow ” or “ Deny . ” Setting location to On lets the networ k detect the cell phone ’ s g eographic location using Assisted GPS, making some f eatures easier to use.
Messaging Settings Setting Message Notification Y ou can set your phone to displa y an icon and message notification or just displa y an icon notification when you receiv e a te xt message, picture messag e, voicemail, or W eb Aler t. 1. Press to access the main menu.

Setting Y our Signature This f eature allows you to send a te xt messag e with your signature. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Messaging . 4. Select Signature . 5. Press , and then select On . 6. Select T ext and enter your signatur e and press (left softkey).
TTY Use A TTY (also known as a TDD or T e xt T elephone) is a telecommunications device that allows people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who have speec h or language disabilities, to communicate via a telephone. Y our phone is compatible with select TTY devices.
Airplane Mode When your phone is in Airplane mode, it cannot send or r eceive any calls (e xcept f or 911 dialing) or access online information. Y ou may still use the phone ’ s other featur es, such as V oice Memo, Calculator , Calendar , etc., while you are in Airplane mode.
Phone Setup Options My Favourites Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut ke y to a fa vourite or often-used function. Pressing the navigation key left in standby mode will launch y our user-defined shor tcut. T o assign your shor tcut k ey: 1.
Auto Answer Mode This f eature sets the phone to automatically pic k up incoming calls in speakerphone mode or hands-free mode (when connected). 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Others . 4. Select Auto Answer . 5. Select Hands-free or Speakerphone .
Setting Any Key Answer This f eature allows you to ans wer incoming calls by pressing an y key (except , , softkeys, and sideke ys). 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Others . 4. Select Any Key Answer . 5. Select On or Off .
T o activ ate the Close Flip f eat ure: 1. From step 5 abov e, select Close . (Y ou will see a messa ge on the display .) 2. Press (left softkey) to continue. 3. Select an option from the f ollowing. End to end the call. Continue (Mute) to continue the call.
Setting the T ext Entry 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Others . 4. Select T ext Entry . 5. Select your desir ed option. Auto-Capital to set the auto-capital on or off. My W ords to add a word to or edit a w ord in the T9 database (see page 26).

Headset Mode This f eature allows you hands-fr ee phone use. Press the T urbo Button (the operation button) on the headset to activ ate useful functions. T o connect the headset: Simply plug the headset into y our phone ’ s headset jack. T o set headset mode: 1.
3. Security Accessing the Security Menu Y ou must enter y our lock code to view the Security menu. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Security . 4. Enter your loc k code. T ip: If you can’ t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of your phone number or 0000.
Locking the Pictures Menu W ith this featur e, you must enter y our lock code when you access the Pictures menu. 1. From the Security Menu, select Pic Messaging . 2. Select Lock Pictures . 3. Select Lock Now . T o deactiv ate this feature, select Unlocked during step 3 above.
Restricting Calls Y ou can restrict phone number s your phone dials or r eceives. 1. From the Security Menu displa y (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu ” on page 54), select Others . 2. Select Limit Use . 3. Select Outgoing Calls or Incoming Calls .
Erasing Phone Content 1. From the Security Menu displa y (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu ” on page 54), select Erase/Reset , and then select the item from the f ollowing and press . Erase Ph. Book to erase all of y our Contacts entr ies. Erase My Content to erase all items y ou have downloaded to your phone.
Resetting Y our Phone Resetting the phone restor es all the factor y defaults, including the ringer types and displa y settings. The Contacts, Call Histor y , Calendar , and Messaging are not affected. 1. From the Security Menu displa y (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu ” on page 54), select Erase/Reset .
4. Roaming Understanding Roaming Recognizing Icons on the Display Screen Y our phone ’ s displa y screen alwa ys lets you know when y ou ’ re off the home network and whether y our phone is operating in analog or digital mode. The following c har t indicates what you ’ ll see depending on where y ou ’ re using your phone.
Note: If you’re on a call when you leave the home network and enter an area where roaming is available (whether digital or analog), your call is dropped. If your call is dropped in an area where you think service is available, turn your phone off and on again to reconnect to the home network.

6. Managing Call History V iewing History Yo u ’ ll find the Call Histor y feature v er y helpful. It is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entr ies) for calls y ou placed, accepted, or missed. Call Histor y makes redialing a number f ast and easy .
Making a Call From Call History 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Call History . 3. Select Outgoing , Incoming , Missed , or Recent Calls . 4. Select the entr y you want to call. 5. Press or . – or – Press (right softkey), select Call or Call:Speaker On .
Prepending a Phone Number From Call History If you need to make a call fr om Call Histor y and you happen to be outside your local ar ea code, you can add the appropriate prepending by f ollowing these steps: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Call History .
7. Contacts Directory Displaying the Contacts List Press the navigation key right. – or – 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Contacts . 3. Select Find/Add Entry . Adding a New Contacts Entry Y our phone can store up to 500 Contacts entries.
Assigning a Group Entry T o add a group name: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Contacts . 3. Select Group . 4. Select an unassigned number and press (right softke y). 5. Enter the group name and pr ess . 6. Scroll down to the Ringer or Picture ID to assign a r inger type or image.
Finding Contacts List Entries There ar e se ver al ways to displa y your Contacts entries: by name, b y speed dial number , and b y V oice tags. F ollow the steps outlined in the sections below to displa y entr ies from the Contacts list menu. Finding Names T o find Contacts list entr ies by name: 1.
Contacts List Options T o access Contacts list options, displa y the Contacts List, highlight an entr y , and press (right softke y). Options availab le may include: Select Group to choose a g roup entr y . Set Secret to make an entr y secret.
Editing a Contacts Entry 1. Press the navigation key right. 2. Select the entr y you wish to edit. 3. Highlight a phone number , press (r ight softke y), select Edit . – or – Highlight an email address or W eb address and pr ess (right softke y). 4.
Assigning Speed Dial Numbers W ith this featur e you can dial Contacts Director y entr ies with one key press for locations 2-9. Save y our memor y locations 2-9 f or speed dialing your most commonl y used phone number s. Speed Dial numbers must be stored in your Contacts to use this f eature.
Selecting a Ringer/Image T ype for an Entry Y ou can assign a ringer/image type to a Contacts entr y so you can identify the caller by the r inger or imag e type. T o select a r inger type f or an entry: 1. Press the navigation key right. 2. Select the entr y you want to set.
Secret Contacts Entries Y ou can hide an entr y ’ s phone number(s) by making them secret, whic h requires y our lock code to edit the entr y . The entr y name is still displayed, but the entr y ’ s phone numbers are replaced by “ <Secret> ” .
8. Personal Organizer Managing Schedules Calendar Use the Calendar to remind y ou of events or important calls you need to make. Y ou can schedule up to 100 events, 15 Call Alarms and 20 T o Do Items. Displaying Y our Calendar 1. Press to access the main menu.
Alarm T ime Editing the alarm time (number of hour s or minutes bef ore the event starts). Default alarm time is 10 minutes. Repeat Setting the event ’ s repeating status.
V iewing Events 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select Calendar . 4. Select the date f or which you set ev ents. (The selected da y ’ s events list will displa y .) Adding a Call Alarm to the Scheduler 1. From the Calendar displa y , select the day y ou want to add an event by using the navigation key .
Call Alarm Menu When you ha ve scheduled a call alarm, your phone alerts you and displays the name or phone n umber . T o respond t o a call alar m: Press or to dial the phone number (if applicable). Other options av ailable include: Press an y ke y to silence the alar m.
Adding T o Do Items Y our phone can store and manag e 20 T o Do items. 1. From the Calendar displa y , press (r ight softkey). 2. Select T o Do List . 3. Press (right softkey). 4. Select Add Item . 5. Enter the description and press . 6. Select Priority to edit the T o Do ’ s prior ity .
Purging All Events, Call Alarms or T o Do List Items 1. From the Ev ent list display , press (r ight softke y). 2. Select Erase Memory . 3. Select one of the f ollowing Option items. Options: Erase Old deletes the old events, call alarms, and completed T o Do items.
Finding Icon Definition 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings . 3. Select Phone Info . 4. Select Icon Glossary . 5. Select the item f or which you w ant to see the explanation. Displaying the V ersion Information 1. Press to access the main menu.
Using Y our Phone ’ s T ools Setting the Alarm Clock T o set the alar m clock: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select Alarm Clock . 4. Press (left softkey) to continue. 5. Select an Alarm Clock entr y y ou want to use and press .
Using the Countdown T imer This f eature allows you to use the countdo wn timer with alar m capabilities. Y ou can set up to 5 timer s. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select Countdown . 4. Select a number and the f ollowing items.
Using the Calculator 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select Calculator . 4. Enter numbers using your keypad. Press the left softkey to insert a decimal point. 5. Press the appropriate navigation key for an arithmetic option. (Up f or addition, Down for subtr action, Left for multiplication, Right f or division) 6.
Using the Stop W atch T o start the st op watc h: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select Stop Watch . Press (left softke y) to star t the stop watch. Press (left softkey) to stop the stop watch. Press (left softkey) to start the stop watch again.
9. V oice Services Using V oice-Activated Dialing Y ou can use a V oice ta g to automatically dial a phone number in your Contacts list. Y our phone can store up to 30 V oice ta gs. Note: Please set the V oice Prompt feature (see page 31) to on before using the V oice-Activated Dialing so that you can hear the voice instruction from the phone.
Programming V oice T ag to Y our Phone 1. Press the navigation key right. 2. Select a contact and press . 3. Press (right softkey). 4. Select Set V oiceT ag . 5. Select Add . 6. The phone will prompt y ou to say the name you w ant to progr am. W ait f or the beep and then say the name.
Managing V oice Memos Y ou can use your phone ’ s V oice Ser vices to record brief memos during a call. Recording V oice Memos T o recor d a voice memo: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select V oice Services . 4. Select V oice Memo .
When the recor ding capacity is full, highlight an old memo, press (left softkey), select Ye s to make room f or additional memos. Note: Y our phone can store up to 12 memos and the total available recording time is 72 seconds (maximum of 18 seconds per memo).
Erasing V oice Memos T o erase all v oice memos: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select V oice Services . 4. Select V oice Memo . 5. Select Erase All . 6. Select Ye s . T o erase an individual memo: 1. Follo w steps 1-4 a bove.
Setting Up Screen Call This f eature enables you to scr een incoming calls b y using a recor ded announcement, either one that is pre-recorded or one that you r ecord. Activating Screen Call T o start Scr een Call when you ha ve incoming calls: 1. When the phone rings or vibrates, press (r ight softkey) to display the options.
Selecting an Announcement for Screen Call 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools . 3. Select V oice Services . 4. Select Screen Call . 5. Select Announcement . 6. Depending on your pr efer ence, select Pre-Recorded or Custom . Recording Name for a Pre-Recorded Announcement 1.
