4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow th e same order as the menus and sub-menus in yo ur phone. A robust index for quick reference to most features begins on page 150. Also inc luded is important safety informati on that you shou ld know before using your phone.
Getting Started 5 Batter y Indica t or The battery indicator in the upper -right corner of the display indicates battery power level. Four ba rs indicate a full charge, while an empty icon indicates an almost empty batter y .
6 2. Insert the top end of the ba tter y into the phone housing using the Directio nal arrow printed on the battery . The gold contacts at the battery end must align with co ntacts on t he phone. Push bottom end of the battery down until it snaps into place.

8 Wall Charger The wall charger is a convenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone fr om any 120/ 220 V AC outlet. 1. Pull the connector co ver out and turn to ex pose the connector . Insert the wall charger adapter end with the arrow up into the co nnector at the bottom of the phone .

V olum e Key : Allows y ou to adj ust the maste r volume or adjust the voice v olume during a call. T o mute the ringer during an incoming call, press the volume key up or down.

Directional K eys Use the Directional keys (up, down, left, right) to browse menus, sub-menus, and lists. Each key also acts as a short cut to launch applications.
16 Display icons The following li st cont ains icons that may appear in you r display . Airplane Mode : Appear s when Ai rplan e Mode is on. When on, all RF functions for your phone are disabled, and you cannot use your phone to place or receive calls.

Call Functions 19 Section 3: Call Funct ions This section describes how to make or answe r a call. It also inc ludes the features and functional it y associa ted with making or answering a c all. Making a Call 1. Slide the p hone up and enter the phone number to call using the nu meric keypad and press the Send key .
20 Note: During a call turn on Whisper Mode when speaking softly or when the caller cannot hear your voice clearly . This mode is useful in meetings or public places. 2. T ouch the Directional key to highlight a menu. T ouch to open th e highlighted menu or to act ivate the feature.

Call Functions 25 V oice Commands Voice Commands is ad vanced spee ch recognition software that can be used to activate a wide variety of f unctions on your phone. Voice Commands software automa tically voice activates all contacts f or voice dialin g and se arching, no pre-recording or training needed.
26 – Tim eout: Allows you to set the tim eout interval. If not used within 5 sec or 10 sec V oice Command will timeout and retu rn to the home sc reen. • Key Settings : Allo ws y ou to selec t the meth od the V oice Com mand menu can be accessed. If Voice C ommands is not sure of the number that you said, a list of possible matche s appears in the display . 8. Y ou’re asked to confirm th e correct number as Voice Commands displays the results.
28 Send <Msg Type> Send T ext 1. Slide the phone up and press the V oice Commands key . 2. A list of commands appears in the display and the audio prompt "Please say a co mmand" plays through the earpiece or s peakerphone. 3. Say “Send T ext” at a distan ce of 3-12 inches from the microphone.

40 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. Th is section al so describes how to use T9 Wo rd te xt entr y system t o reduce the amount of key stro kes associat ed with entering text.
Entering T ext 41 Now , for practice, enter th e word “Hello” into your message by pressing each of the foll owing keys on ly once: T9 Word recognizes th at the most frequently used word for the sequence of numbers entered. The word you just entered is “ HELLO .

66 4. Highlight the unopened message, then touch OPEN . The INBOX screen appears first with informa tion about the message. T ouch DOWNLOAD to view Multimedia messag e. Note: If Auto Receive is set to On the message will automatically display . Message Folders Y our phone provides default messa ge folders for your T ext and Multimedia messages.
Messaging 67 – For P icture Messages the following options may appear in the display: •P l a y A g a i n : Replays the sound byte attache d to a Picture Message. •F o r w a r d : Forwards th e message to another recipien t. •E r a s e : Deletes the message.
68 5. For T ext and Multimedia messages, touch REPL Y to reply to the message. Note: When the Inbox exceeds 150 text messages, the first message in the list is replaced with the next incoming message. Multimedia messa ges are replaced when the phone’ s maximum memor y is reached.

72 V oicemail New voicema il alerts are sent vi a a free T ext message. These messages indicate how man y new and urgent voicemails are in your voice mail box. Open the free text message to view the number of new and urgent vo ice messages in your voice mailbox .

Note: All instructions on accessing or changing the features will begin from the SETTINGS AND TOOLS menu.

Choose menu settings for each of the shortcut opti ons under Set My Shortcuts . In addition, you can personal ize 3 Directio na l keys (up, down and left) with Set Directional Keys .

90 Security The Security menu allows you to lock your phone, set restrictions, and othe r security options. 1. Slide the phone up and touch MENU . T o uch t he Directional k ey to highlight the Settings & T ools menu and touch . Press Phone Settings .

At the “ RE-ENTER N EW CODE ” prompt, re-enter lock code and touch . “ PHONE ONL Y CODE SET ” or “ CALLS & S ERVICES CODE SET ” message appears in di splay confirming your lock code changed . Note: Y our phone does not allo w you to view the lock code for obvious security reasons.
92 4. Press Phone Lock Setting . The following options display: • Unlocked : If locked, unlo cks the device or pho ne, depend ing on your sele ction. •O n P o w e r U p : The Lock Code is r equir ed whenever y ou power up the phone. 5. Select an option and touch .
Changing Y our Settings 93 Call Emer gency Numbers in Lock Mode In Lock Mode, you can dial 911 to place an emergenc y call. Note: If you dial 911, your phone dials the emergency number immediately (no prompt). System Select The System Select menu allows you to set your roaming options.

Answer Opt ions The Answer Op tions menu allows you to select the method for answering in coming ca lls.
96 TTY Y our phone is fully TTY compat ible. Connect th e TTY equipment to the headset jack. Before you can use yo ur phone with a TTY device, you’l l need to enable TTY functions in the p hone. 1.
