8 Understanding this User Manual The chapters of th is guide generally follow the same order as the menus and sub-m enus in your device. A robust index for quick reference to most fea tures begins on page 172. Also inc luded is important safety informa tion that you should know before using your device.
Section 1: Getting Started 9 Activating Y our Device 2. Replace the batter y cover (1) and slide it toward the bottom o f the phone (2) until the cover clicks into place. 3. Make sure that the batter y is properly installed before switch ing on th e phone.

Using the Ignored calls log you can: • Review ignore d calls fo r the times and dates of the calls, as well as othe r information.

Each method of character entr y (symbol , nu mber , and so on) is called a text entry mode. There are five te xt entry modes, as i ndicated: • Alpha — Alphabetical text entr y mode.
50 Entering T ext in T9 W ord Mode T9 Word recognizes commonly used words for a sequence of keypresse s and inserts the word into your messa ge. Using T9 mode is much faster than the more traditional metho d Alpha m ode, since T9 requires onl y one key press per letter o f the word that yo u are spelling.

54 Y our Contacts List Y our Contacts list can store up to 1000 entrie s , with each contact having up to fiv e associated phone num bers, an em ail address, and a picture ID. Each phone number can be up t o 32 digits in length, in c l uding hard p auses.

60 Tip: Y ou can enter multip le two-second pa uses to extend the l ength of a p ause. For example, two cons ecutive two - second pause s cause a total pause time of four seconds. Note: Keep in min d that pauses count as digits to wards the 32-digit maximum.
