3 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start using your phone by activati ng your servi ce and setting up your voice mail. Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, a plug-in SIM card is provided loaded with your subscrip tion details, such as your PIN and other option al se rvices.
Getting Started 4 Make sure the go ld contacts of th e card face into the phone, then slide the SIM card i nto the socket. R emo ving the SIM Card T o remove the SIM ca rd, sl ide it away fro m socket. See the following illustration. Ins tall ing t he Bat ter y 1.
5 Note: Y ou must full y charge the battery before using your phone for the first time. A fully discharged batter y requires up to 4 hours of charge time. Note: For connection to an electrical supply not loca ted in the U.S., you must use an adaptor of the proper configura tion for the power outlet.
Getting Started 6 Po wering On or Off the Phone 1. Open the phon e. Press and hold the key until the phone power -on screen displays. 2. If the phone asks you to enter a password, e nter a password and press the OK soft key or the key . (For more information, refer to “Change Phon e Password” on page 54.
7 Chang ing th e V oi ce Mail Number Y our SIM card gives yo u default ser vic e number o f the vo ice mail center . Ho wever , you may need to change the number . Use the following proce dures to cha nge your voic e mail number . 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

It also displays the screen and the icon s that are displ ayed when the phone is in use. F eatures of Y our Phone Y our phone is lightweight, ea sy-to-use and offers many significant features.

11 Inter nal Display Layout The display has 3 areas: 1. The top line of your phone’ s main display contains icons that indicate network status, battery po wer , signal strength, connection type, and more. 2. The center portion of the ma in display shows information such as call progress infor m ation, messages, and photos.
Understanding Y our Phone 12 Appears when Silent Mo de, Mute is active. Shows the leve l of your battery . The more bars you see, the more power you have remaining. Sele cting Option s T o view the various functions and option s available an d to select the one y ou want: • Press the Right Soft Key .
13 Each key also acts as a short cut to launch applications. Send K ey The Send key is used to answer calls, dial calls, and to recall the last number(s) dialed, received, or missed. • Press once to answer calls. • Enter a number and briefly press to make a call.
Call Functions 14 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answe r a call. It a lso inc ludes the features and functional it y associated wi th making or answering a c all. Making a Call When the Idle scre en displays, enter the area code and phone number , and press the key .
15 Fr om the Id le Screen, press the key t o display a l ist of the most recent numbers used in the order you dialed or received t hem. 3. Use the Up and Down navigation keys to scroll through the numbers until the numbe r you want highlig hts. 4. T o dial the highl ighted nu mber , press th e key .
Call Functions 16 Rec ent Calls The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’ve dial ed, received, or missed in the Recent Calls menu. If the number or caller is l isted in yo ur Contacts List , the na me associated displays. Viewing Mis sed Calls The number of calls you have miss ed displ ays on the I dle screen when a call is missed.
17 4. Press the Reset soft key . 5. At the “ Are Y ou Su re ?” prompt, press the Ye s soft key to confirm the rese t or No to cancel. 6. Enter your password. Press the OK soft key . At the “ Confirm New P assword ”, re-enter the same password and press the OK soft key .
Call Functions 18 In Silent Mode, your phone will vibrate and light up the external LCD display or just light the ex ternal LCD display depending on the setti ng in the Sile nt Mode feature. T o exit and reactiva te the prev ious sound settings, press and hold the key a gain unt il “Silent Mode Deactiva ted” displays .
19 • Send DTMF : sends DTM F (Dual T one Multi-F requency) tones to the contacts you have selected. If you are in a multi-part y call, the fol lowing option s also displa y: • Swap: allows you to switch between the two active calls. • Join : joins the calls you have established with your pho ne.
Call Functions 20 Call W aiting The Call Waiting feature al lows you to a nswer an incomi ng call while you have a call in progress , if this service is supported by the network, a nd you ha ve set the Call Waiting - V oice Calls Menu to Activ ate . Y ou are notified of an in coming cal l by a call waiting tone .
21 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion Menu Naviga tion Menus and sub-menus can be ac cessed by scrolling using the Naviga tion keys or by using the shortcut keys. Accessing a Men u Function by Scrolling 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.
Entering T ext 22 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired te xt input mode when entering characters into your phone. This section also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text en try system to reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
23 1. T o change the text inpu t mode, press the Options (left) soft key ( ). 2. Scroll to the Input Method options and press the Select (left) soft ke y ( ) or the key . 3. 29 • Memory Status : sh ows th e numbe r ass igned to t he SI M memor y card. 6. Press the Save soft key or the key to save each entr y . 7. Press the Options soft key to display the following options: • Edit : all ows you to e dit the name and numbe r assigned to this contact.

31 Finding My Own Phone Number This function is a memory aid, which you can use to check your own phone number if you need to do so. Y ou can assign a name to each of your own phone numbers registered on your SIM card. Y ou can also edit the names and numbers.
Understanding Y our Addres s Book 32 FDN List FDN (Fix ed Dial Number) mod e, if supported by your SIM card, allows you to restrict y our outgo i ng calls to a limited set of phone numbers. 1. When the Idle screen displays, pres s the Menu soft key . 2.

35 Memor y St atus Y ou can check ho w many names an d numbers are stored in the Contacts List, in both SIM ca rd, the p hone memo ry , and SIM (FDN). Y ou can also see t he ca pacity of both memories. 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key .
Messaging 36 Section 7: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive diff erent types of messages. It also inc ludes the features an d function ality associated with messaging.
37 • Insert : allows you to add text from any of 10 pre set T emplates, Contact s List entr y i nformatio n, or Fa vorite we b sites you h ave stored on your phon e to your me ssage text . • Add Media : allows you to attach pictures, animati on, or melody to your me ssage.
Messaging 38 – Add : allows you to add a subject to the message. – Preview : allows you to prev iew your messages b efore sending. – Save to : allows you to save the message to Drafts or My Folder . – Add P age : allows you to add p ages to your me ssage.

Messaging 40 Multimed ia Messages Multimedia messages will be stored in the Inbox of the message serv er and the ser ver will alert you to new messages.

45 K eypad T one This menu allows you to select the tone and v olume when you press the keypad. 1. Use the Navigation keys to select from On/Off and Key To n e ( Beep , Xylophone ). 2. Use the Navigation keys to incre ase or decrease the Vo lu m e. 3.

47 Set Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and date displayed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in another part of the world. Note: Before setting the time, you must specify your time zone in the World time menu. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

Highlight Settings and press the Select soft key or the key . 3. Using the Up or Down Navigation key highlight Set Phone and press the Select soft key or the key .
49 Backlight Time In this menu, you can sele ct the le ngth of time for the Mai n LCD backlight On and the Main LCD Dim. • Main Disp lay On : Settings available are: 15 seconds , 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 10 minutes. Press the Save soft key or the key to save selec tion.
Changing Y our Settings 50 3. Press the Up or Down key until the network yo u want highlights and then p ress the Sele ct soft key or the key . The phone wi ll scan for t hat network and you will be connected. Air plane Mode The Airplane Mode turns your handset off for incoming and outgoing cal ls.
51 Connection T one (an alert sounds at the call connection). Use the key to enable or disabl e these functions. Press the Save soft key to save the selection. Aler t s on Call Use this option to turn On or Off the Al erts on Ca ll optio n. This will enable or disable the alert sound.

Applications 60 Applications Rec o r d A u di o Record Audio allows yo u to record voic e memos. It al so allows you to send your audio c lip to other people as an attachment of an MMS message. Recording time is limited to free memory space avail able.
61 1. Highlight Alarms and press the Select soft key or the key . The following opti ons displa y: • Wake-up Alarm : the alarm rings to w ake you u p at the specif ied time. Thi s option a llows you to set the Snooze opti on and th e days of the week to be enabl ed.

When you have finished, press the Save soft key . Annivers ar y T o schedule an anniversary use the following options: • Occasion : enter the Annivers ary Occasion.

71 Entering T e xt in the WA P Browser When you are prompted to enter text, the current ly active text input mode is indicated on the sc reen. T o change the text input mode, press the key one or more times. The following modes ar e available: • Upper -Case Alphabet Mod e (A) : allows you to enter upper -case char acte rs.
WAP 7 2 Using F av orites While navigating the WA P browser , you can bookmark the site to quickly and easily access it at a future time. The URL addresses of the book marked si tes are sto red in the F avorites folder , wherein you can use the 4-preset URL addresses and store your favorite URL addresses.
