Getting Started 5 4. Lift the battery up (1) and away from the phone (2). T o re place the bat tery: 5. Slide the battery into t he phone with the gold contacts on the battery matching those in the phone (1). 6. Press the ba ttery do wn until it clicks into place (2).
6 7. Reinstall the battery cover by sliding it back onto th e phone (1) unt il you hear it securely c lick (2). Note: Make sure the battery is properly installed before switchi ng on the phone. Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion battery .
Getting Started 7 Important!: Verify the handset battery is properly installed before connecting the travel adapter . If the battery is not properly installed and the tra vel adapter is connected, the handset continuously power cycles and prevents proper operation.
8 Low Batter y I ndicator When the batter y is weak with only a few minutes of talk time remaining, a warning tone sounds and the “Battery low” messag e repeats at regular inte rvals on the display . In this condition, your phone con s erves its remaining ba tter y power , not by turning off the backlight, but by entering the dimming mode.

Understanding Y our Phone 11 3. Navigation key: Allows you to scroll through menus and a djust the volume during a call. In Idle mode your Navigation key provides a shortcut to your Contact Li st, Camera, your Sound Profile settings and your SMS me ssage window.
12 Main Display Layout The display has 3 areas: Icons Shows the received signal st rength. The greater nu mber of bars indicates a stronger signal. Appears when you rece iv e a new text message. Appears when you receive a new picture message. Appears when yo u receive a new voice mail message.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 Note: The default Sound Profile is Normal. The profile is editable, and the displayed icons may vary according to the settings. T o edit Sound Profile settings, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Sound Profile . Appears when a call is i n progress.
14 Back light A backlight illuminat es the display and the keypad when you press any key . The backlight dims or turns off when no key is pressed within a gi ven period of time. Go to the Backlight Time menu to modify these sett ings. 䊳 Press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Display ➔ Light Settings ➔ Backlight Time .
Understanding Y our Phone 15 Selecti ng Option s T o vi ew the various functio ns and options availa ble and to select the one you want: • Press the appropriate soft key . • T o select the function displayed or the option highlighted, press the Select soft key or the key.
16 End Key The En d key is used to turn on/off your pho ne, disconnect call s, and return to the standby mode. • Press and hold the End key to turn on/off yo ur phone. • Briefly press once to disc onnect a call. • Press to return to standby mode from any menu.
Call Functions 17 Section 3: Call Functions This section descri bes how to make or answe r a call. It also i ncludes the features and functionali ty associated with m aking or answerin g a call. Making a Call In Idle mode, enter t he area code and phone number , and press the key .
18 Redialing th e Last Nu mber All incomin g, outgoing an d missed calls a re listed in the Recent Calls Menu. If the number or caller is listed in your Contac ts, the associated name displays. F or more information about Re cent Calls, see “Recent Calls” on page 19.
Call Functions 19 Recent Calls The phone stores the numbers of the calls you ha ve Missed, Received or Di aled in the Recent Calls menu. Y ou can quickly access this menu from the Idle screen by pressing the key . If the number or caller i s listed in your Cont act List, the associated name displays.
20 Viewing Missed C alls The number of calls you have missed is displayed on the Idle screen. T o view the number details: 1. Press the Vie w soft key. The most recent ly missed call is displayed. Note: If there is a voicemail sent by the same number, associated icons are displayed and can then be selected.
Call Functions 21 Saving a Missed Call to y our Address Book T o sa ve the missed call entry to your address book, use the following steps: 1. Press the Vie w soft key . A list o f the most recen tly missed call s is displayed. 2. Select the des ired missed call.
22 Deleting a Misse d Call T o delete a missed call entry: 1. Immediately after missi ng a call, press the Vie w soft k ey . 2. Press the Options so ft k ey, t he n s e le c t Delete . Select th e option to delete the Selected missed call or All missed calls.
Call Functions 23 Making a new cal l wh ile you have a call i n pr ogr ess 1. While on a call, press Options ➔ Hold . 2. Enter the new phone number y ou wish to dial. 3. Press to dial th e second number . - or - Press the Options soft key , then select New Call .
24 In-Call Opti ons During a call, press the SpkOn/SpkOff key to turn the Sp eaker On or Off . Press the Options soft key to a ccess the following: • Hold : Places the active call on hold. • New Call : Places the current call on hold a nd then allows you to enter and dial another number or access your Contact List.
Call Functions 25 Switchi ng of f the Microp hone ( Mute) During a call, you can tempora rily switch your phone microphone off so that the other person cannot he ar you. Press the Mute/Unmute soft key . Searching fo r a Number in Address Book Y ou can search for a number from the Address Book during a call.
26 T o end a call on hold: 1. Press the Options soft key , then select End Held Call. Y ou can continue with the remaining call. 2. Press to end the current active call. 3-W ay Calling (Multi-P ar ty Calling) The 3-Way or Multi-Party feature allows you to ans wer a series of incoming calls and place them on hold.
Call Functions 27 Silent Mode Silent mode is convenie nt when you wish to stop the pho ne from making a sound , in a theater , for example. In Idle mode, press and hold until th e phone vibrates, the “Silent prof ile on” message appears on screen.
28 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the menu navigation for your phone. Y our menu options are controlled by the SIM provided by your ser vice provider . Use the Navigation keys to scroll through menus and sub-menus or use the shortcut keys.
Messages 29 Section 5: Messages This section desc ribes how to send or re ceive text messages. Creating a New T ext Message 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Messages ➔ Create New Message ➔ T ext Message to access th e SMS message window. Tip: In Idle mode, to create an SMS message, press the Up Navigation key.
30 Creating a New Picture Message 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Messages ➔ Create New Message ➔ Multimedia Message . The New multimedia message screen displays with the Subject fiel d highlighted. 2. T o crea te a subject for your message, press Options ➔ Add .
Messages 31 12. When you are finished with your message, you can press the Options soft key to make changes, additi ons, edits such as backgr ound color , add a business card or other attachments, modify send settings and preview your message. – or – Press the Send T o soft key .
32 • Vi ew : Allows you to view your messag e. • Call Back : Returns the call. • Delete : Deletes a single selected message or you can select mu ltiple messages for deletion. • Move t o My Fo lder : Allows you to move the selecte d message to My F older .
Messages 33 Sent The Sentbox message box stores copies of messages you sent. Drafts The Drafts message box stores unsent message s that you want to edit or send at a later time. V oicemail Choosing this option dial s your voicemail. My F older Y ou can elect to store mes sages in My Fo lder .
34 Delete All The Delete All functi on allows you to cl ear messages you no lo nger wish to store. Y ou can de lete the messages i n the selected messag e folder(s) or you can choose to delete all messages at one time.
Messages 35 • Block Number : allows you to create a block number list. • Message Class : allows you to choose a s etting: T ext, Image Basic or Image Rich.
36 Section 6: Browser This sectio n outlines how to laun ch your Browser , how to naviga te to other pages on the Web, and how the keys on the ke ypad are used with the Web application. Y ou can surf the Web and download ringt ones and wall papers using your phone.

40 Viewing Photos 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Camera ➔ Go to My Photos . Y our photos display in Line View or Thumbnail Vi ew . – or – In Camera mode, press the right soft key ( Gallery ) to access My Photos.

42 Alar ms Y ou can set an alarm to ale rt you once, or dai ly at a specified time . Once set, the alarms are easy to change or turn off completely . 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ T ools ➔ Alarms . 44 View an Event 1. T o access your Calendar in Idle mode, press Menu ➔ T ools ➔ Calendar . 2. Use the Navigatio n keys to move th ro ugh the calendar and highlight a desired date. 3. Open the highlighted date by pressing . A list of scheduled events appears in the displa y .

46 Cur rency — Re viewing/Editing Exchange Rates The Currenc y Converter includes long-term aver age exchange rates as def ault values. T o review and/or change a defaul t exchange rate to the current exchange rate, do the fol lowing: 1.

Cur rency — Deleting Exchange Rates Y ou cannot erase the prel oaded currencies from the Exchang e Rate list.
48 Stopw atch Y ou can use this menu to set a stopwatch. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ T ools ➔ Stopwatch . 2. Press to start the stopwatch count 3. Press at the start of each succ eeding event/lap to record the com pletion time for the prev ious event/lap.
Applications 49 My F older The My Folder menu allows you to mana ge downloaded and preloaded tones and graphics. Y o u can store your files in th e Audio and Picture folders and v iew the availabl e memory i n the Used Space display. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ My Folder .
50 Section 9: Understanding Y our Contacts This section allows you to manage your Contacts by storing contacts’ names and numbers in your Contact List.
Understanding Y our Contacts 51 • Copy to Phon e/SIM Card : allows you to copy all or a selection to your Phone/ SIM Card. • Send Business Card : allows you to create a business card for your contact. • Assign Speed Dial : allows you to assign a speed dia l number to the selected contact.
52 Reject Lis t Y ou can store and add numbers to your Reject List to i mmediately direct calls from those numbers to your voice mail. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Contacts ➔ Reject List to view your list. Press the Options soft key to Edit, Add New or Re move numbers from your list.
Understanding Y our Contacts 53 • Own Number : Displays you number assigned to y our phone. • Copy All to : Allows you to choose to copy all contacts to y our phone or to yo ur SIM Card. • Delete All : Allows you to delet e all contacts, to delete al l contacts from your phone or to delete all f rom your SIM Card.

Changing Y our Settings 55 Displ ay The Display menu allows you to change settings for th e Main Display , the Front Display and the Light settings. In Idle mode, press the Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Displa y .
56 • Shortcuts : Allows you to change the menus that display w hen you press the Navigation keys in Idle mode. • Own Number : Displays the number assigne d to your phone. • Security : For information on phone se curity , see page 56. • Reset Phone : Displays: All settings reset to factory defaults.
