Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by first configuring yo ur hardware, activati ng your ser vice, and then setting up your voic e mail.

15 Icons This list identifies the sy mbols you’ll see on your phone’ s display screen: Shows the received signal streng th. The greater the number of bars, the stronger the signal. Shows the level of your batter y . The more bars you see, the more power you have remaining.
Understanding Y our Phone 16 Backligh t A backlight illumina tes the internal display an d the keyp ad. When yo u press any key , th e backlight comes on. It goes off when no keys are pressed within a gi ven pe riod of time, depending on the setting within the Backlight menu.
17 Section 3: Call Functions This section de scribes how to make o r answer a call. It also explains the f eatures and functio nality associated wit h making or answe ring a call. 19 Note: Y ou can answer a call while using the Phonebook or menu features. After ending the call, the phone returns to the function scre en you were previously using. Call Records All incoming, outgoing and missed calls are li sted in th e Call Records.

21 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customize it. These functions are arranged in menus and sub- menus, accessed using th e two soft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular functi on.
Call Functions 22 7. In some functions, you may be as ked for a pass word or PIN. Enter the correct code and press the OK soft key or . When you access a list of options, your phone highlights the current ly active option.

Call Functions 24 With the Phonebook entries di splayed: 3. Enter the name that you wish to find in the textbox located above the en trie s. If you enter the first few letters of the name, the Phonebook entries are listed st arting with the first entry matching your input.

Menu Navigation 26 Section 4: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu navigation fo r your phone. Menu Naviga tion Y ou can tailor the phone’ s range of functions to your needs using menu s and sub-menus. Menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scrolling using the Navigation keys or by using shortcuts.
27 Using Shortcuts The menu items, such as menus, sub-me nus, and options , are numbered and can be accessed qui ckly by using their shortcut numbers. For th e main me nus, you can access any one of them by pressing the number keys (1 to 0) corresponding to their lo cation on the screen.
Entering T ext 28 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to se lect the desired text input mode when en teri ng characters int o yo ur phone. This section also describes how to use the T9 predicti ve text system to reduce the number of key st rokes a ssociated with entering text.

Entering T ext 32 Using Number Mode The Number mode enables you to en ter numbers into a text message. 䊳 Press the 1-0 keys until the corresponding d igit displays. Using Symbol Mode Symbol m ode enables you to i nsert symbols and punctuation marks into text.
33 Section 6: Understanding Y our Phonebook This section expl ains how to use and manage your Phonebook. Y o u can save pho ne numbers to your phone’ s memory or to your SIM card. Storing a Number in the Phone’ s Memor y The default st orage location fo r saving phone numbers to your phonebook is y our phone’ s built-in memory.

35 1. From Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Phonebook ➔ Add new contact . 2. Enter a name for your contact into the Name field. A SIM card ent ry has only one available name field. 39 4. Press to return to the Idle screen. Note: Memory location 1 is reser ved for your Voice mail server number and this speed dial location can not be changed. Dialing a Number from the SIM Card 1. From Idle mode, press the keypad corresponding to the speed dial location number for the desired phone number you want to dial.

FDN List FDN (Fixed Dial Number) mode, if supported by y our SIM card , allows you to re strict your outgoing ca lls to a limited set of phone numbers.
43 Section 7: Messages This section describes how to send or receive different types of messages . It also explains th e features and functional ity associat ed with messa ging.

The f ollowing options are available: • Insert from : allows you to insert from the T ext templates, P honeboo k, or Bookmarks. The T ext messages template allows you to apply one of t he preset messa ge templat es to the text .
45 Picture Messages This menu allows you to use the Mu ltime dia Message Service (MMS). Picture Messaging is a messaging service that provides delivery of personal picture messages from phone to phone or from phone to e mail.

47 Inbo x The Inbox stores messages that you have received. Y ou can tell what kind of message it is by t he icon displayed. If the open envelope i con displays then the message was read, otherwise the closed envelope i con displays.

Messages 50 Viewing a Picture Messag e When You R eceiv e It When a new picture message comes in, the displ ay shows the Picture Messaging Message icon. 1. Press the Vie w so ft key to view the messa ge. – or – Press the Exit soft key if you want to view the message later in the Inbox.
51 Instant Messaging (IM) Instant Messaging is a way of sending short, simple messages that are de livered imme diately to users online at th at moment . Before using this feature, you need to subscribe to a me ssenger service. For further details, contact T -Mobile customer service.
Messages 52 Sentbo x This message box stores messages that you atte mpted to send but have not actually sent. When you en ter this menu, the l ist of messages in t he box displays with t he recipients’ phon e numbers or names, i f availa ble in your P honebook.
53 Te m p l a t e s Besides entering message text using the keypad keys, you can sp eed mess age composition by in cluding copi es of stored text and/or image templates in your message. 1. From Idle mode, press the Men u ➔ Messages ➔ T emplates . 2.
Messages 54 Messages settings In this menu, you can set up a defaul t text message or a picture message . The last setti ng you accessed is automatically activated fo r sending subsequent messages. 1. From Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Me ssages ➔ Settings ➔ Messages settings .
55 Delete all This menu allow s you to delete all of the messages in each messa ge box. Or , you can delete all of th e messages in all message boxe s at one time. 57 Vo l u m e This men u allow s you to adj ust the ri ng volume to one of 7 le vels plus Silent mode and Vi br a t i on mode. 䊳 Use the Right or Left key to increase or d ecrease the volume. Alert type This menu allows you to specify how to inform you of incoming calls.
Changing Y our Settings 58 Extra tones Y ou can customize addition al tones for the phone. 1. T o turn a tone on, press . A check mark displays in front of the o ption. Press the Save soft key to save the setting. 2. T o turn a tone off, press . The check mark no longe r displays in front of the opti on.
59 Info display This menu allows you to set text style (Outline, Shadow, or Normal) and te xt color (White, Y ell ow , Blue, Green, Red, or Black). 1. Press the Left or Right Navigation keys to chang e the settings. 2. Press the Save soft key to apply your changes, or the Cancel soft key to cancel.
Changing Y our Settings 60 Backligh t In this menu, you can select t he length of time tha t the keypad backlight is on and how much longer the display illuminates before going off. Duration The On setting is how long t he keypad backli ght is on. Y ou c an select 10 secs , 15 secs , 30 secs , 1 min , 3 mins , or 10 mins .
61 – Manual only : you need to man ually set the time and date according to the current time zone. • Tim e zo n e : allows you to select a time z one. • Daylight saving time : allows you to activate or deactivate daylight saving time. • Tim e : allows you to change the hour , minute, and am/pm.
Changing Y our Settings 62 HA C mode Enabling HAC (Hearing Ai d Compatib ility) Mode adjusts the volume for HAC comp liant devic es used with this handset. Important!: Enabling the HAC mode can affect the quality of the phone (voice) conversation. 1. T o turn a feature on, highlight HAC mode a nd press the Select soft key or the key .
